Ok, not signing this.

First off, /signed reminds me of WoW, I am not playing WoW anymore so not playing the forum BS of /signed.

Even WoW didn't have world chat, there was regional chat,Local Defense,Trade and LFG as default channels. If we were to have the level of inane, rude, childish yapping that WoW had I would stab my eyes out with a spork. There is chat currently, I have gone to see if anyone is out there and no on ever is, so I don't sweat it.

And mail, I don't care, if people feel the need for this in a game where you can put things on the ground and have them stay so you can pick them up with other characters, so be it. WoW had to have mail because you couldn't place anything on the ground. And later on,without purchasing a guild and guild bank, you had no way of getting stuff to your other characters. You couldn't even put them on the AH because you couldn't bid on your own items from the same account.

So, a. World Chat, exists if people used it, and b. Mail...whatever.

Yes, I am kind of in a bad mood today, but if I wanted WoW, I would go back to it. I loved my friends there, and even my toons, but I don't want anything that reminds me of the game that never does anything new and only puts new skins and glow effects on it.
Sorry friend, Stratics has had that /signed for eons. Yeah, place your ethy or something really cool on the ground at the bank or in front of me... SHINY!. Since when did UO community talk about WoW so much. We have been around far longer and have done and tried it all. These things are not new to UO, none of it. It just needs to be implemented differently now.

Basically this, on top of the people who don't want something and therefore don't want anyone else to have it either. Extra silly since WoW wasn't the first major MMO with a mail system or global channels, but why let facts stop the WoW-trashing?

Suggestions to use IRC and ICQ miss the point - those are generally used for communicating with people you already know. What is proposed is a server-wide chat for help, trade, finding groups, finding crafters - talking to people on your server you might not already know. Of course, since we already have such channels, all that is needed is to convince the isolationists and luddites in UO to actually use them to benefit themselves and their shards.

A mail system would be nice, but I'm not sure how necessary it is - it's a lot more useful (and needed) in a game that lacks things like personal and guild homes, or storage outside of a bank. UO's got that stuff covered. To be perfectly honest, I would rather see the resources that would be required to make a mail system work, devoted to more globally-useful systems, like vendor search.
Well, the cool thing is we just got the mailbox for new rewards. LOL Sooo, I guess they thought it was worthy after all. Indeed, it is a higher vet reward, but I think they will become craftable at some point.

So exactly as you said Wow didnt have a world chat so this would be nothing like Wow. Just a cool new addition to the game we all love. Making it easier to find people for events and groups. also a way to see if your friends are online since if they arent in your guild there is no current way to tell. You could even turn it on and off at will so if you wanted solitude you could have that. I don't think I have seen a world chat in the 2d client. I bet very few people know about it was I have never seen anyone use it. I didn't know about it and I played for over 5 years. Plus it never occured to me that it could be done until I started playing all these other games that did it. Also if they wanted to break it down to local they could do a chat for each of the lands. Theres plenty of them now to do that. Plus I think its hilarious that all anyone can think about is Wow. They aren't original. They copied the good things from other games that were around at the time just as all games do. So why don't people go research and find out which games these ideas actually came from instead of giving Wow all this undeserved credit. I believe all Wow did was come out with a nice graphics system that most computers of the time could play that wasn't UO style graphics. But I digress. A world or regional chat system would bring something much needed to UO. UO does need to evolve with the gaming world as much as it can. They just have to find the right balance. Now is the time for us to come up with some great ideas and help them out. We are the players and they do listen to us. Otherwise they make it up as they go and we all know how that turns out.

Cool where is that located on the 3d client? I have looked everywhere and havent found one. Thats the key though. You shouldnt have to log into it and it should be very easily available and findable. Like say on the drop down list for chat with guild, party and say. Should be a world on that list as well.

Didn't see this post :p, but again that is the key. Still kind of hoping for this. I just dunno if it is feasible. I know UO has the system chat and It would take some work, but I think it would pay off big time. Not ready for this to go down so easy, just yet!
