At least 25 times in the last 3 days, last evening (fri) 7 times (Prob 100 times in the last month!). All's going fine then blam, you freeze up & you get the lovely "Connection lost" logo, go to reconnect & this

Close out UO & completely, restart & it's fine. Could be fine for hr's or just min's. Nothing else running in the back ground or I could have Team Speak up or ICQ, But it makes no difference. All drivers are up to date, all XP patch's current...... But it is getting pretty GD Annoying. For it seems every time it's as you are in a monster filled area & the lovely gray screen is what you see on relogging back in deep in the caverns. But can also happen just walking with nothing around... You tell me......! but I'm annoyed as hell

System:
MB: Asus
CPU: Dual core 2.8 AMD
Memory: 4 gig 800mhz (XP only sees 3gig though)
Video: Dual SLI 9800 Gforce
Monitor: 19" Wide Screen HP 1907
OS: XP Pro SP 3

I can honestly say I have never even heard of that screen in my 10 years of playing this game.
I don't know for sure but if I was forced to guess I would say it's an ISP/your connection problem.

I've had this problem before as well. It does exist. I get it when my client crashes or I loose connection, or when I'm switching in and out of characters quickly.

System:
Mac (OS X Version 10.4.11)
Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Video: Intel GMA 950 (I THINK)

I also used to get this message. However, I haven't seen it in over a year.
When I did get it, it was when I was travelling and using a wireless connection.

this is why they cant advertise and get more subscriptions..
they have turned down the servers to a very low priority.

i too have been getting this error.. ive also been getting the connection lost message right after i pick a shard.

I actually doubt this is a UO problem. I have been able to replicate the issue as well, and it has to do with proxy servers in your own network at home or where ever you are. The reason it happens is, I think, that your computer is assigned a different address between the time you start the login process and your getting to the next step, the login server.

Authentication sites cause this frequently for me. Also, a poor wireless conection where I cut in or out a couple of times. DHCP servers at coffee shops that have only a limited number of clients available have done it to me.

Did something change in the way you connect to the internet? Did you add a security layer that inserts a proxy server perhaps?

I can circumvent the problem usually by first opening a web page, followed by the game without closing the web page. Alternatively, you can start the client.exe file directly to speed up the process and prevent this proxy thing from happening in the patch window.

I am sure someone can answer you in a more technical way, but bottom line in my opinion is that you should be searching for a reason closer to home.

ISP connection is fine, ping is what it has always been 100 to 109/115. Not on a network nor on wireless, direct connection to DSL modem. No other program ever drops connection to the net when I am on one. If I have ICQ up along w/UO & UO drops ICQ works fine. Never had this issue in 10 yrs of UO more then twice til about a month ago on a patch we received, then about 2 days later the Syncro msg started to happen very frequently. And now down right annoying. (also computer was completely reformatted, reinstalled all programs clean & it still continued)

I've had this problem only a couple times and only happened during sometime in the past. If anything it would most likely be a server problem or possibly something on your end. Definitely not a problem that affects a lot of players.

While your connection may appear to be fine that does not necessarily mean that there is no problem on your end.

Re: Dev's, lets fix this annoying problem Synchronization between log in server & thi

Is this problem occurring from logging into the same location?
Is this problem occurring when logging onto a specific character.
Is this an issue with more than one server?
Is there anything else about your situation that is the same each time you log in.

Could be any number of bugged items which are not allowing you to properly log in. If it happens again and again and others are not experiencing the same problem, then something on your side (not client...but account) could be wonky. Start with the questions above...work your way out from there.

I can tell you exactly what this is.

The Synchronization Error occurs when the IP you last connected with (while your character is online) has switched. It could mean that your provider uses a Dynamic IP that switches at the most inopportune times. Or it could mean that someone is attempting to log into your account (causing you too loose connection, reconnect, and receive such a message).

The first thing I would do is make sure your computer is clean and secure; then change your passwords.

That's your problem right there, your monitor's too wide. :mf_prop:

Sorry, just think it's funny when people post system stats that have nothing to do with anything. :p

I've been having login problems too, not nearly as much as you, and mine never give that message, the just... don't connect. Or get stuck at one point or another.

Re: Dev's, lets fix this annoying problem Synchronization between log in server & thi

If you read through the thread, and the link to the other thread, you realize that everybody is saying the same thing about this error. Changes in IP address, proxy servers, DHCP stuff... it is about your computer sending mixed messages to the server. The game server is passed on your IP address from the login server (authentication) so it knows it is you playing, not someone else. If your IP address changes during this process, you can't connect.

I would say that you need to comb through your system and get to the bottom of it. Check your internet settings, and see if you are connecting through a proxy. Check your virus scanner and see if there is a setting to bypass things. Check your firewall and see how your firewall intersperses itself into the mix. It is something local, not at UO, since hardly anyone has this problem. THe fact that some others have this, may indicate a certain hardware/software combination (ISP/Modem/Firewall/Virusscanner) that may cause this. Like I said before, I can replicate the same error by logging in from a particular place. In that situation, I know it has to do with a situation where i need to log in to allow for internet access (like at some coffee stores) and then my computer is assigned a new IP address by proxy. If i log in while this process takes place, i get this error.

I am running win 7 and have no problems anywhere else.
