Destard puts the GD in Greater Dragon

So there I was, loring Greaters in Destard late last night for the millionth time. I'm a huge pet snob, and hadn't found a decent one yet. Finally come across an ok one, phys and fire resists about 80, 930 hp, skills in 110s. I'd guess maybe a 3.9 or 4 rating, which at this point I'm willing to take just to have one in the stable.

I drag him up into the north west alcove and tame him. Then I noticed he was a she, and apparently it was Mardi Gras mating party for Destard,because when I came down towards the door about a zillion interested parties were waiting. Spamming All Follow Me had no effect as my new Greater piled into the most obscene reptile orgy you can imagine.

Fun fact for those who don't bother with taming, freshly tamed pets aren't bonded.

Non-Bonded pets die for reals, no res.

I just hung my head and went home.

I think if you run somewhere safe and log out the pet will be logged too. Then you can log back in and he/she should be with you.

That is correct, but "somewhere safe" want really available. I had maybe 30 seconds from the time the first two tagged my dragon until he died. I think 5 GDs hit him at once. Being newly tamed, he had no magic resist or skills to speak of and dropped like a rock. The pile of dragons at the door kept me from running out to gate to house.

Is ok. It happens. Just frustrated me to no end last night. I'll use Hound to take the frustration out on some innocent mongbats later....

Just lather on some dragon pheromones before you tame and lead all those to dragons to the dark, back corner of Destard then disappear into the night. The general entrance area should be clear for a short time.

The Fire Temple http://www.uoguide.com/Fire_Temple maybe be another option as you can lead them father away from the Weyr/Clan or whatever you call a group of dragons.

Just do what I do. Tame some random slob dragon and use it till it dies then throw it away like a napkin.

Rinse.

Repeat.

another easier way is to just help stuck and wait the 1 min to get out

Maybe tell your pet to stop, cast invisibility on it, run outside, log out.

I have lost several good dragons there due to greater dragon mating parties... lol!

I usually skill peacemaking now when i go taming a new pet.. but you could also use the trick of logging out and logging back in to bring your animal to you after you reach a safe location. The animal does not need to be bonded either. So when you fresh tame a animal.. tell it to stay in safe location invisible it if possible and go to safe location and log out and back in.
