I was on Test Center today checking out the new insurance and I decided to head to Yew Moongate in Felucca.. What did I see? People who were able to run through trees, the moongate stones and lots of giant crystals (they aren't passable)!

Then I saw several people hopping across my screen stupidly fast. So EA if you want to ban these people you know where to go.

Sadly that is the test center and last time I heard on the test center you can do what you want because it is not a live shard, and it is not policed by the GMS.

Thats not true they have banned people before on Test centre for other things. But the real trouble is alot use those programs on real shards also.

Exactly why I posted this - I know theres no GMs on TC, Thats why I didn't call them. Hopefully the devs can check this spot out in their spare time and learn more information about how these people are doing it.

OK years ago I was told that, must of been changed thank goodness. but it is good to know it isn't true. cuz I hate cheaters even if its on the test center.

EA does not ban people for speed hacking.

Last time I checked... the only bans I knew of were for unattended macro's... and yeah... I agree.. they won't touch the test shard...

Yes I've seen people run through bagballs before. Obviously the way the client-server code works is that not being able to pass through obstacles like bagballs (or trees, or crystals, etc) is client side controlled and hence client-side hackable. EAMythic should be aware that such hacks are therefore, possible and is being used by a certain % of the playerbase, notably (of course) the pvp-ers. (that's not to say pvm-ers or pve-ers do not indulge in such hacks/exploits, but no one could care less if they do...)

EA just needs to put some more effort into making their publishes a bit more bulletproof.

Cause every time something changes ingame there seem to be new bugs..

Actually, people can't run through trees. The gravestones, etc, they can because that info on whether they are passable is stored client side, so people hack the files and change it to make them passable.

Trees, however, are server side, so no, they weren't running through trees unless they're hacking EA's servers.

I don't know the details, but there is some kind of client-side hack that turns all the trees into stumps, which apparently can be run through. Has been for a very long time. I've seen screencaps of it, some of them right here on Stratics.

It's a very long-standing issue. I've seen reds able to run through trees for as long I have played, and I used to think there was just some "trick" they knew and I didn't.

And in a sense I was right.

I don't know the details, but there is some kind of client-side hack that turns all the trees into stumps, which apparently can be run through. Has been for a very long time. I've seen screencaps of it, some of them right here on Stratics.

It's a very long-standing issue. I've seen reds able to run through trees for as long I have played, and I used to think there was just some "trick" they knew and I didn't.

And in a sense I was right.

It is not possible to run through the trees. They change the mul file to display a stump instead of a tree to remove the foliage. All it does is make the screen load faster and remove foliage that might otherwise be hiding impassible objects.

Cheaters "sued" and "won"? Sorry, if nobody else will, I call BS on this. Back this up with a news article (since it would have been precedent setting).

My friend got his account banned for speedhacking in 2004...just keep reporting on the speedhacker once enough people do hes FUBAR...

Either the story has been screwed up so horribly on purpose or this is BS.
