Customization Foundation Query?

It has been a while since i really messed around with a custom house ...

well .. caught the bug and have built two new houses, and slowly working out designs with them.

here is my issue ... and i know this was probably a change that happened months ago but worth venting about anyway ...

I had a house built as a grass lawn, with dark wooden foundation, to blend with land until i was able to build.

while toying around with a design, i decided to make the foundation white stone, to match the house i was building ... after tinkering around, no decision made and saved the house as a back up, close out and change the foundation back to dark wood ...

fast forward two days, working on designs again, and noticed as i loaded my backup version, well low and behold my foundations are white stone when i restore the back up! perfect, i don't have to change them again, but change all walls to sandstone ... ok, now i want to change the foundation to light wooden, to match my sandstone design, instead of the white stone. Back up, hop out of custom mode, change foundation, jump back into custom mode, restore design ... and the white stone foundation is back ...

phew

So ... is it not possible anymore to change foundation types in mid design ... or is it only if i back up a design with one foundation type, that back up will always have that foundation type?

I finally just wiped the whole design, changed foundations and rebuilt from scratch ... just to see what another foundation looked like with my design ..

seems like it used to be easier to switch than it is now ...

anyone else have this issue ... or am I the only one that can't stand to be building a house with an incorrect foundation.

don't really want to commit the house, change foundation, just to see what it looks like ....

Are you on the classic client or the enhanced?

I've never had that happen to me before, but I know there seems to be a lot of bugs with house building in the enhanced client.

Although I do tend to change my foundation either before or after I start to build something since most of my buildings are sandstone or one of the walls that match sandstone.

i play the classic client ...

i too start with the foundation i want usually .. but this time, after building the whole house .. i changed to a different type of wall, and am stuck with the wrong foundation until i commit, and change after building i suppose ...

whats wrong with committing? do you have intimacy issues :p

i don't know about foundations but i know that as you are modding a house it recalculates what you've spent on walls, doors, floors, etc and sometimes you get money back while changing the design around.

Heh ....

well i suppose i could just do that ... but i go through designs at least a dozen times before i stumble upon the correct design for that house/plot heh

I'm a bit odd ... i'd rather have a clear plot of grass marring the landscape until i have a finished design .... i suppose it would be easy enough to just commit ... or get over my hangups and continue customizing with a mismatching foundation and not let it bother me heh

oh i lead a complicated life ... lol

Thanks for the insight all, i will have to break down and do one or the other it seems ... just a matter of which option i can live with heh
