Current Status of Housing Rules

I realize I should read the Herald and browse ea.custhelp.com but since these rules have a tendency to change from time to time and because last year the Devs expressed their intent to change them I want to ask here.

What are the current house decay rules? Is it still 90 days to condemn for inactive accounts?

Any other new rules or changes I should know about in the housing department?

You do understand none of the current team understands the coding of the housing server?

They broke the account activity trigger with last pub (and no it wasnt a dry spell on all shards for two weeks just bye concidence) and had to fix it and cover there own butts but not saying anything and just fixing it and hoping no one would notice what a catostrpphic screw up it is.

Be lucky the changes that were implemented were but after this housing screwup they wont admit to dont expect anything else done to the housing server for fear of them breaking the coding again.:stir:

can someone better explain what this housing screw up was and how it affects the 90 day inactive account timer?

what do you not understand?

They broke it and reset every single houses inactive decay timer back to zero.

They didnt catch it and the only reason they did was because of idocers noticing and coming to the boards and it still toke them two weeks after the last pub to even say anything on the boards that there was an issue.

Then two fofs go bye and not a word was spoken about an update on them beign able to fix it and then it miracoulsy goes back to normal and the inactive houses start to decay again.

They didnt say anything because of fear of abuse and not wanting to admit they messed up and reset it.

Actually ... Plucky's wrong.
(Probably cause he's on the outside looking in, now.)

The current status of housing decay, is as you asked, 90 days of grace.
A "new thing" that has been added/changed, need to be 15days old, on account, to place.
(trial accounts basically can't)

House placement has been enhanced, at least as far as resizing (more here)
(tip: need to stand under the house sign, counts as a full demolish {everthing hits the ground}, for a "time" only that account can place to that area)
and blocking and house tool usage are in the process of being modified (more here)

The "screw up" as plucky would like to portray it ... has not been re-addressedmay 23
"Why does it seem like IDOCs aren't happening much at all anymore?"
I don't have a concrete answer for this one yet, but I wanted to acknowledge it and let you know that we do have engineers looking into it. (It's not a deliberate change.)

Though THP seems to think it HAS been corrected, and the "housing sweep" actual status is unknown.

so they messed up and refreshed every house. then they reverted it. so my house is refreshing back to what it was before or it starts back 90 days from when the devs "fixed" it?

can i get a dev answer here? i get 2 different things from people and none of it makes any sense. why is this such a problem?

i read on uo.com forum that this is the official UO forum. seems like we can't even get a simple answer here.

sorry but that means I am right....

I said it wasnt addressed and it toke them nearly a month to notice after the pub that there was an issue and they did in fact admit there was a problem and I also have discovered in the last week that in fact after a month of non inactive accounts not decaying they are in fact decaying again.

Idocs are definate back to normal= Plucky is wrong iam afriad.

Had 4-5 fall the other day with lots of nice loot in, and i only covered a small section of the UO land...i still got 4 others in different stages of decay, 2 i expect to fall today and both are full loaded houses..this is on europa!!...ALL seems fine again- was possible just a dry spot the other week.

90 day rule still applies....5 days for the decay cycle

when a house falls u cannot place in that area for a random time= which is great addition.

You only get 4-5 attempts to place a house when u are allowed!!! then the tool needs to cool off for about 15 minutes...another great addition.

okay i think i understand now.

so what is the scenario with houses falling?

i remember i had some houses one time that i placed on newbie accounts and even after the accounts went inactive the houses stayed there for over a year.

has that been fixed?

drinkbeerallday the placing of houses by any account under 15 days (IE. trial accounts) has been stopped your accounts have to be 16 days old to place a house now so basically yes the trial account housing has been fixed as for the houses that are still standing from over a year ago i do not know

some bugs are bugs and unfortunately have to be lived with till they are squished :stretcher:

i just checked. houses that i placed in November 2006 on newbie accounts that I let expire 30 days later (obviously in Dec 2006) are still standing. seems like these houses should have fallen ~60-90 days into 2007 (at the latest)

To the OP, do we have to get Crystal to come in here and point you to the other threads on this topic or what? In all seriousness though, in the other thread I pointed out how 1 of my houses went slightly, 3 months and 6 days after I cancelled that account, however the other one which expired in Feb 08, is still standing...
