CU Training

So, I've been going thru the 1st stage of training....meaning he's fighting everything.....well, he's fighting a CRAZED MAGE. So I got to the CRAZED MAGE, and had the CU kill all. Was not a big deal to watch them duke it out while I used vet on the CU. He got to about 52.49 and quit gaining, started to get the message that he "doesn't train from that." In the next 1/2 hour, he got nothing. He was wonderfully happy, everything was working as I thought it should be. Why wasn't he gaining? What is it I'm missing? I'm a returning player and this is the first pet I'm training. Looked around and not finding any clues.

On another note, I got the message that said my pet was no longer in the pet power hour? I'd only been on for about 15-20 minutes tops. What's up with that?

Thanks for the assist folks.

Fresh return myself, I’ve been reading up on pet gains, I did read the cap for (1) crazed mage is 50 points gained. You need a fresh mage to continue gains.
I have been taking my 2 slot nightmare there but he hits hard every few hits causing death.
I am using bake kitsunes near the Oni’s, teleport across the small divide at the southern part of the mountain where Oni’s are and get Hassle free resist gains, I can take up to 4 maybe 5 before worrying to keep up heals. Lurg in the painted caves gives nice controllable gains as well. Not as much as the crazed mage of course, but respectable for the level of effort. Get some more local mobs in there working parry tactics etc.
I’m not claiming this is the best method but for a lower slot pet, it beats reviving them when the crazed mage hits with triple explosions etc.

The % that a pet can gain is determined by the pets slot.

1 and 2 slot pets gain 100% per mob
3 gain 50%
4 gain 25%

A Cu takes 6 Mages.

A few of the commonly used Mobs to get Greatly gains from:

Crazed Mage
Blazing Mage
Unbound Vortexes
Night Terror
Dread Pirate
Allosaurus

LOL, geeeez, ya'll gotta make me feel my age. Forgot all about the 50% and change targets and yes, the CU is a 3/5.

Thx guys, let ya know tomorrow that you guys were right, ugh.

Posting this as a disclaimer … I am an idiot, I was training on the burning mage, he was crushing my 2 slot nightmare. The crazed mage was all too easy. That’s what I get for riding in an not paying attention.

Ya burning mage is not as pleasant. When it's busy there, someone has to reorganize the Mobs.

Sorry for the delay, crazed mage and I met up again today, it was quick, easy and productive. Now to figure out what to do for here forward.

Thanks folks.

If you are 100% then:

If not. Kill that mage with archers or warriors with the pet tanking it.

ive leveled up a LOT of Cu's over the years.
my go to is the following.
Allosaurus x2 for the first level, i gain 50 off each.
then Unbound Vortexes x 3 and Crazed Mage x`1 for the last level, gaining 25 points each.
that will get me a 5 slot Cu in under a hour.

only thing about doing that is you have to be really good with your healing on the Allosaurus level as they can hit hard and poison.
only pet so far ive seen that is 'easy' to do that with is that new bear.

also, if your starting at a 2 slot pet, ill do Air Elementals for my first level and then continue with the above.
even if the pet is a 1 slot going to 5 ill just do Air Elementals for level 1 and 2 then continue with what i have above.

gotta love shame level 5!!!
