There are three ways to get crystalline blackrock:
- fighting in the caverns of the discarded (abyss mini champ spawn)
- mining in ter-mur (and from mining ONLY there)
- killing ore elementals (shadow or higher, the higher the better your chances are)
I got 8 crystalline blackrock from mining in ter-mur with garg picks and prospectors tool. I used up 7 gargoyle picks for that. (But I killed my elementals ... I just like the extra coloured ore from them.)
I cant say anything about the drop rate int he mines, maybe I should give them a try.

The Dull Copper Ellies in Shame drop them too...
As to the original question, I haven't mined in Ter Mur yet, but between Cavern of the Discarded and Ore Elemantal hunting in Fel, Fel gets me more faster. If the drop rate at Ter Mur for crystalline blackrock is similar to mining the ML gems, I would say ore elemantal hunting would be the likely way to go.

I mined earlier today in Ter Mur, keeping to the city limits and surrounding safe areas, and found five pieces of crystalline blackrock. Didn't use any special tools... just my shovels.
I get 5 or 6 crystalline blackock per hour mining in Ter Mur. Sometimes more.

And you are using a macro with the EC client? I should have said that but I am sure you are since I get only about 1 or 2 for 1 hour not using ec client and macro unless I do elementals

I usually get 1-3 per hour killing shadow eles in tokuno

I use the classic clilent. Spent about an hour mining, but since it's the first time I mined in Ter Mur, I don't know if what I dug up represents a real average.
I have a macro set to use a shovel, i target manually. Second macro drains the ore vein and I move on. I don't use prospector's tool or garg's picks. They just slow me down and I use so many iron ingots I actually prefer to get more of it. I use packy or sometimes a fire beetle. Seem to mine more ingot with the fire beetle. EC macros beat the classic clients capabilities hands down. Even with UOA. I've been a miner for many years. My routine is down.
edit: So, since my Paladin is getting jacked in the next publish, looks like I'll be doing a whole buttload more mining.

*nods* I've always done it manually, using shovels and simple in-game macros.
Ok, I've mined for two hours today and strangely did not get a single piece of crystalline blackrock.

Hopefully, that's just a fluke. I haven't done any mining today... just lumberjacking.
Ok, 9 crystalline blackrock in the last two hours. Talk about up & down.
