Can anyone (Niki? Gracie?) point me to a post that explains how to set up EAL so I can play one account in EA Land and one account in TC3?

Thanks in advance.

The way I used to do it for TSO and Betaville was to have one patched as TSO. Copy it. And then rename the TSO folder, and use the Betaville to patch that one accordingly.

I haven't tried it with TC3 and EAL. In theory, it should work.

On Simone's advice I simply made a copy of the Electronic Arts Folder in program files (the whole thing) I renamed it TC3, sent a copy of the Patch shortcut from the new copy to my desktop, patched that copy to TC3 and so far so good.

Good luck sweet Coy

Does this give you the ability to play in both cities at the same time?

No I dont think so, I believe to do that you need to have the 2nd install on a separate drive. Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong.

Not on Seperate drives just a 2nd copy on ur C Drive. The way I have t set up is my original is patched to EAL and my copy patched to TC3. and yes if you have multipul accts. you can play both cities at the same time.

The copies can be in the same folder with each other.
Right click the EA Land file, select copy, right click an empty spot in the folder, select paste, rename the copy TC3.
Open the folder, find the client.exe and copy them adding "-CSCity:EA Land" to the first one and
"-CSCity:Test Center 3" on the new one, to the target lines. You can send those shortcuts to the desktop for easy access.

If you know how to run multiple sims it is pretty much the same thing.

I am not a techie at all. All I know is to copy the folder, make a shortcut to the client and send it to where you want to go. Fix your shortcuts the way you want them. Click to open one client then the other both windows will go to dif cities. This allows you to play both cities at once, with multiple accounts.
You will only be able to run one sim on each acct at the same time.
When there is an update it is best to open each city with the patch.exe rather than the client. But with the patch you can only run one instance at a time. I run it to patch and then back to the client.

There is NO need to have 2 drives to do this. One drive with 2 separate EA-Land installations works quite well.

I have EA-Land and TC3 on one computer/laptop in one hard drive, no need for two. Simply have two separate installations is all.

On one installation the path is "C:\Program Files\<font color="blue">Electronic Arts\EA-Land</font>\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-r800x600" "-CSCity:EA Land" .

Notice the dash "<font color="blue"> - </font>" in EA-Land as some installations do not have it for whatever reasons and it is just EALand.

And on my other installation I just used the old sims online installation I already had the link is the same from the old default TSO installation path "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-r800x600" "-CSCity:Test Center 3"

To check your current path simply "Right click" on your ea-land desktop icon, go to and select "properties". When the next screen pops up look in the "Target:" box to the right (it should already be highlighted for you). Change the path to look like this "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EALand\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-r800x600" "-CSCity:EA Land" .

Also make sure your computers screen resolution is set higher then both 800x600 and 1024x768. If not then the game will run in full screen mode. Or if you prefer it in full screen then simply set your pcs screeen reolution to the same size as you run the game in.

To check the screen resolution simply "right click" any open area on your desktop. Then go to and select "properties" and go to the tab named "settings". At the lower left you'll see a little slider bar and the screen resolution size just below it. If changes are needed just click and hold the little arrow thingy then slide it to the right until it is higher then 1024x768. Then hit "OK" and another screen may appear asking if you want to keep the setting change you made, just hit "yes" or "OK" which ever it says.

To get this tpo work perfectly with patching etc. as Mike stated above use the cd or the older download of TSO for 1 installation which becomes the "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-r800x600" "-CSCity:Test Center 3" installation location.

and the newer EA-Land download link to install the new EA-Land install location - "C:\Program Files\<font color="blue">Electronic Arts\EA-Land</font>\TSOClient\TSOClient.exe" "-r800x600" "-CSCity:EA Land"

Doing it this way eliminates having to rename folders etc to do updates each week. Simply use the patch folder, specifically the tso.exe in each of the two installation locations and you'll update both TC3 and EA-Land both with no hassles.

Hey fester -

I deleted my old install. I only have the new install. Do I copy this to another folder or should I go and try to find the old install and redownload it?
