Crash Before Login Screen

Hello all -

If I am adding to the cluster and missed a previous post about it, my apologies. Basically, I would have used this client for the second time.

Last night, I patched the client, attempt to play using it today and no go. I launch the application, few moments later a "Patch Complete" with a nifty "Play" button appears. Naturally, I click it, and it loads! After this, I see another nifty screen, animated flames a pretty gargoyle, etc, and then it is back to my desktop.

Having only used the client once, I can't even make an assessment as to whether I hate it or like it yet, but I am leaning more towards hating it since I can't even use it.

I digress, any ideas/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks all!

I have the same issue, I noticed I had a patch error close to the end of the download.
I closed & restarted the patcher & it successfully completed download. The login screen briefly appears & then disappears.I have been using SA without too many issues prior to patch.

Yes, precisely what I was seeing.

It was like the Patcher was attempting to get files that didn't exist, meanwhile net connectivity was fine.

Weirdest thing ever, still ctd after splash screen, had 0 issues for the 4 hrs I ran around with SA the first time.

So lame... anyone else? solutions?

Same here. My patch closed at some point, I wasn't watching at the time. I started it again and seemed to work without problem. But the same thing then, I start the client after the patch is done and get a screen for one second that then closes out.

After searching for logs, both locally in SA directory and system side(Event Viewer) and I have found nothing outside of missing connections to files when patching. These are found in $SA_INSTALL_DIR$\logs\patcher.$date$.Log

Well, I just uninstalled the client, attempting a re-patch at the moment. If the answer is to fully re-patch the whole damn thing again, that isn't cool, but it is a close to halfway done thus far. At first glance, the new patching system is great, but if this is what is required for us users, I'd consider it very broken.

This may pertain to the issue. I am on Windows 7 64bit RTM(build 7600, yes legally). Did a web setup of directx install, so everything needed there is current and current on every driver I can get.

Similar setups?

Uninstall went ok, deleted folder it lived in prior.

Install again, patch did error right at the end. After my heart attack and replacing my screen after putting my fist through it, I reran the patcher and voila... picked up the last few files to a success login screen.

Good luck.
