I too consider crafting to be a family task. The ladies of my clan gather the raw material while I get to put my name on everything. Such a wonderful life.

Hail! This is the template of my Craftsman, as it will be someday...;-)
And, as I want to stress, I don´t consider this Char being a Mule, I have much fun playing and also training him (also thanx to UOA!!)!

GM Carpentry (now at Base 58, didn´t spend much time for it yet)
GM Blacksmithy (now at Base 75)
GM Tinkering (now at Base 73)
GM Tailoring (now at Base 40)
GM Mining (now at Base 90)
80 Armslore (now at Base 53)
70 Lumberjacking (now at Base 50)
50 Magery (now at Base 49.7)

Well, still mucha Work to do I suppose :)

Well, I personally think, Musicianship is not worth it, just to make instuments...almost every Bard has a Newbie-Instument, so, who would buy them? Concerning Armslore, I´ll also go till 70-80 (should be enough), Magery I´ll stop at 50, enough to Recall, use Gate and Mark Scrolls and kill Mongbats and such with Lightning ;-)

just to let you all know i was reading this post and there seams to be a lack of alchemists which i can understand as my 7*gm tradesman hasent got it but after reading the latest news about stonemasons and glass blowers (stonemason being used on carpenter skill and glass blowing on alchemy skill) i am going to drop lumber jack for alchemy because knowing uo they might make some of the crafterbels use two skills so my new tradesman will be
carpenter gm
smith gm
tinker gm
tailor gm
musician gm (maybe a little less as only 45 minimum skill needed for instruments)
mage gm(no ei or med mainly for abatrois and pentagrams and hopeing gm mage will still be abel to blade ogre lords to death for one day a lord title dose any one know if i can do this without ei)
and alchemy gm
maybe ill take some musician skill for arms lore as i repair a lot

My "pure" mule Sigurd:

GM Tinkering (done)
GM Smithing (done)
GM Alchemy (done)
GM Carpentry (78 real)
GM tailoring (62.2 real)
GM Magery (41.0 real)
GM Mining (71.8 real)

this char is my Pure mule and can craft just about anything I truly need. My scribe already has GM mining and as soon as I GM mining on Sigurd I will drop that for wrestling. I have a lumberjack for the lumber needed, a tamer to gather leather FAST, and I'm creating a Fencer/Nox Mage which will be able to utilize the poisons to poison weaps...ultimately Self reliant...for the most part

Elizabeth is now one weekend away from completion:

GM Smithing (Achieved)
GM Carpenter (Achieved)
GM Tinkering (Achieved)
GM Tailoring (Achieved)
GM Mining (currently 90.2, with enough ore to smelt through the last 3 PHs)
75 Magery (Achieved)
75 Music (Achieved)
50 Arms Lore (Achieved)

100 Strength (Currently 97)
25 Dex (Currently 29)
100 Magery (Currently 99)

Once I've finished off mining... it's time to take her into a Town for the first time!

I'll be around the Bank/Forge in Europa, wearing everything with my own Mark (including Jewellery and a Lute). Forget about neon hair/glacial staves/blessed sandals... that's the true posing outfit. :p

I'm looking forward to completing mining- I have chests and chests filled with low-grade items I've made from the better ore types that I have't anted to smelt until I can get as many ingots as possible from them. Should free up about 1500 storage items!

Meet the Petrus': and <a target="_blank" href=http://my.uo.com/cgi-bin/my_chars.pl?52616e646f6d49565d352a6d4754c3147d6e66267c4163965e127c332676461257a3bab2c261f8b181d40bfdd2c6396b>The Europa Crap smith
Their skill template is 7x GM the following:
Blacksmithy
Carpentry
Lumberjacking
Magery
Mining
Tailor
Tinker

Basically, this char can make all the obvious GM crafted smithy/tailor stuff, as well as every form of house add-on (except musical instruments, which is no loss) and completely supports himself with supplies/tools since he has lumber/mining/tinker. He even supplies himself with leather by FSing /php-bin/shared/images/icons/angryfire.gif goats and hinds! And when I feel like earning him some fame, I go BS some Ogre Lords. Simple and very effective in my opinion.

<a target="_blank" href=http://my.uo.com/cgi-bin/my_chars.pl?52616e646f6d4956a78814e5abc94fa21229478606dcd1bf7c1533adfac291b401bb764587e71c8d6b0126847b090b1a>Silver Splinter</a>, what my "main mules" make fun of! /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smash.gif
Alchemy
Bowcraft/Fletching
Cooking /php-bin/shared/images/icons/coolio.gif
Item ID
Lumberjacking
Poisoning /php-bin/shared/images/icons/sick.gif
50 Magery
50 Taste ID /php-bin/shared/images/icons/lick3.gif

Obviously, this char isn't all that, but I had an extra slot between my accounts to waste. He is usefull as a mule in the sense of his pots (alchemy) and uses his Item ID to re-Id the bulk of the magical crap I collect on all the other chars at a central point (my house) and then stocks the items on his vendor. His cooking skill also came in handy for the first week of tribal paint, and then nobody cared again. <font color=FF8C00>Do not make this second mule unless you are as bored of life as I am!</font color=FF8C00>

I thought it might be fun to start the game as a blacksmith/miner. I was brand new to UO, but have played all the previous Ultima games, along with a whole host of other RPGs and such. I know the theory is to start all new games with a warrior, but this sounded more fun. So now I have:

GM Parry
GM Anatomy
80 Healing (enough to rez)
20 Magery (enough to recall without those damned fizzles)

Jones is my craftsman. What I'm aiming for is:

GM Smith (done)
GM Miner (done)
GM Alchemist (done)
GM Scribe (done)
GM Tinker (done)
GM Mage (currently around 89)
GM Carpenter (currently around 56)

I was originally going to start a new character with carpentry, lumber and bowcraft, until someone pointed out I couldn't make smithy add-ons, so Jones is dropping meditation in favour of carpentry.
Meanwhile, I've just created lumber/bowyer Dash Everoak - although at this stage I am not sure whether he will become a second crafter with tailoring, cooking, poisoning etc, or whether he will become a ranger-type character. At the moment he is just collecting logs for Jones.
My other characters are an archer/swordswoman/healer, a tamer/mage and a tamer/bard.

Lady DeadCal - 6xGM Warrior/Healer
Lady TerminalCal - 5xGM Tamer/Mage
Kitty DeVine - 3xGM Tamer/Bard
Jones - 5xGM Miner/Smith/Tinker/Alchemist/Scribe

I have 2 "craftsman" and 1 gather, i have 2 other gm alch's that are poisoners one mage and one dexer, but these are my craftsman and my jacker/miner

Titanium - [Gukka Pulga, BhP] great lakes (this is a "slave" of the bloodrock clan)
GM Bowyer(done)
GM Tailoring(done)
GM Carpentry(99.4 will gm soon)
GM Smith(51.0 haven't even started)
GM Tinker(96.1 will also gm soon)
GM Item ID(0 will put this in, currently have 75 music and 50 hiding that way i don't have to have a vendor to tell me the VDP of items, and who ever really wants a tamburine with tassel? I will make a couple before i drop it anyways.)
75 Magery(done)
25 Hiding - don't care to gm magery and nothing else worth 25 points

Wiccan Priest [GM Alchemist, G/H] great lakes (this is an OLD character, only his alch is gm, but this was a roleplayed chracter, i spent a lot of time roaming the lands as a wandering healer in various dungeons.)
GM Alchemy(done)
GM Magery(80 something)
GM Inscription(80 something)
GM Meditation(80 something)
GM Poisoning(60 something)
GM Healing(80 something)
GM Anatomy(80 something)

The Gathering
GM Swords
GM Tactics
GM Anatomy
GM Healing
GM Lumberjacking
GM Mining
60 Tinkering (to make shovels)
40 Magery (to recall using regs if the need be, my old mule was a craftsman that had mining and lumberjacking, but he got his ass handed to him on a regular basis in the remote mines. This guy has been know to suprise more then one person, i don't use a horse, and i only wear leather pants, shoes, leather gloves and a doublet, i look like a newbie that is lost in fell, dropped more then one person trying to kill my pack horse.)

The Gathering and Titanium are on my new account that is about 4 months old.

someday i will make this character

Villiage Idiot
GM Cooking
GM Herding
70 taste id (since you can't gm it)
GM forensics
GM Fishing
10 of everything else

Deirdre is:
GM Mining
GM Carpenter
GM Tailor
GM Tinker
GM Alchemy (working on this one)
80 Blacksmith
75 Magery
45 Musicianship

She can make all the add-ons and items.

Her sister Niamb is GM smith and GM lumberjack. You have to have a house to do this one, since the GM mining for ingots and smelting is on one character and the GM smith is the other. Ditto with the carpentry and lumberjack, though it is now easier to buy lumber off the NPC's than to go chop your own.

My son has a cook on his account I use to cook the tribal berries into paint. As soon as I GM Alchemy, I'll be able to make EVERYTHING again, well except for scrolls, but my good friend takes care of that for me /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif
