I am trying a crafters template and need some advice. Right now I have:

Mining
Blacksmithing
Arms lore
Tailoring
Tinkering
Carpentry

Do I really need Arms Lore for anything?
Should I get all of these to 120?
Is there a better template I should be using?

armslore adds resists to armor pieces and a bump to damage increase mod on weapons, so if you plan to sell to other players you need it. only blacksmithing and tailoring can go to 120.

You're going to find your carpentry to be somewhat limited without a lumberjack - which will also be handy to have for a fletcher :) And now, if you plan on becoming a salesman of your own goods, imbuing will also be a must.

It was always difficult to make a single character as a main craftsman with all skills on all the time. It's now impossible.

Because there is so many skills, I made 2 crafter/gatherers:

(garg)

Imbue 120
smith 120
tinker 100
mine 100
arms lore 100
Item ID 100 (helpful 1st month, almost worthless now)
Magery 110 (with jewels and book)

I needed the magery to get Loyalty (casting EV's on sliths while guildmates guarded me). Also handy for recalling to Queens forge and home forge.

Second char has: (elf)

Tailor 120
Fletch 100
carp 100
Ljack 100
Magery 110
arms lore 100
Med 100

Unfortunately, the two on sep accounts so I could not soulstone the Arms Lore - had to gm it twice :( In your case, I would make on same account and soulstone ArmsLore back and forth, if you have the sstones available ...

Alchemy and cooking on sep char, but you could add to above template and rely on scrolled runebooks for recall.

To me, trained magery/eval/med on a crafter seems wasted points.

After I got my 10k loyalty points I stoned it off my crafter and relied on runebooks with charges to get around.

But then I thought again and most the spells I'd want to cast as a crafter are circle 4 and below. You know, heal, cure, night sight, recall, teleport, bless...

So i made myself a couple of +13 Magery/LRC rings, I'm carrying around a Conjurer's grimoire and I'm able to do what I need with 41 Magery.

If I really wanted to pimp my crafter out I could add +15 Magery imbued rings (or crystalline ring), and the treatise on alchemy for +5 Magery.

My crafter will probably end up looking something like this:

120 Imbue
120 Blacksmith
120 Tailoring
100 Arms Lore
100 Mining
100 Carpentry
40 Spare pts

I'll stone on Lumberjacking, carpentry, and fletching as needed...

If I was smart I'd put all the things which require Arms Lore on one crafter.

I think you need 75 Magery to craft a Pentagram. And 45 Music for any instrument. (could be had from items alone)
