Hello,

I just got an 18 X 18 Plot and looking to build a house functionnal for all kind of Craft, Storage area. It could have stable area, outside garden etc etc but, the basic for me is Crafting and Storage. I am looking at The post here about custom design and have not yet found something that would fit my needs. I am probably the worst to design a house. All the house I have build in the past were so ugly, even a scrapyard would look better. I could take my 2 years old nephew drawings and it would look better than my constructions....

Could someone send me a nice design either one that already exist (screenshots) or one build with UO House Builder Software. Something original would be appreciated and I will give you credit on my house sign post.

Thanx for the help

Forgot to mention it but, It does not need to have deco in it, I simply need a layout. I have some ideas for the deco... Stone Kitchen is one of them :)

Hi,
I designed my place with similar intentions. I'm by no means an expert in this sort of thing, but I find my place to be quite functional. I do a fair bit of crafting. Hoping this can give you some ideas at least.
Cheers

Here is my little sweatshop in my house on Siege.

I have it set up so I can reach all the materials containers, and I have the multiple spinning wheels and 2 looms for my macros for spinning piles of wool into yarn and cloth. I had to close it in that way to protect me from Nature's Fury attacks (we have some bored PKs on Siege :p). All of my tailoring, and alchemy crafting stuff is stored in this room.

I have all of my smithing, fletching, and carpentry materials stored in containers (including related talisman sorted and stored in sub containers) in the porch/stable area on the first floor of my house by the forge and anvil. My outdoor "summer" kitchen cooking area and soul forge are on the roof, in a garden. All of the materials and talisman are stored in containers next to the required add-ons. I use pouches when I want them to be inconspicuous and not spoil the decor.

I don't have pics handy of those.

I wish there was an easier way to get designs to players out there, I like designing.

Go into design mode and design a house takeing screenshots of each floor. Post those pics, if the pics are big enough people can than copy the design and make it themselves on their own house, just dont backup or commit the design so you dont lose your stuff.

on the other hand if you have any vendors or deeded containers in your house it would be a pain it the behind to do this for others since you would have to remove them first.

Well, let's see.

What's your style? Few frills, clean workspace with organized containers (such as a wall of chests) with a few themed decor adding to the ambiance (such as a hammer & tongs in a smithing area). Or do you like a more worked in look (a little more "messy" meaning more themed items strewn about)? Do you like hidden decor'd containers*?

Do you want the house sectioned/compartmented? Do you want a floor of crafting, another floor of living, and a private floor? Or would you like different crafting sections throughout the house as one might be logical (meaning a smithing area near a barn for shoeing horses and a sewing area near a bedroom to tailor garments)? Or would you like 3-4 smaller houses on the plot with different themes (such as a smith's house, a Tailor's house, and a Carpenter's house)?

* = I like hiding/working containers into the decor of the house, personally. For example: I have a smithing area that has a Blazed colored Heirloom chest that is floated up above a couple large forges in an attempt to blend in with the embers. In the same house I use low chest containers almost as display shelves. In he past I've had a winery decor with grapes, a flower mill that I made to resemble a grape smasher/wine maker, with that I had a back section that looked like a jumble of barrels/half barrels/open barrels/kegs/half kegs to look like wine storage where quite a few of them were storage containers. I could see work benches being placed on chests which could function as cabinets beneath the bench.

I have a death/decay house with multiple red items representing pools/splatters of blood that I've hidden the red velvet V-day boxes in, which adds storage, but doesn't stand out. In the same house I have used multiple piles of bones decored to look like a bigger pit of bones, with a few bone containers thrown into the mix. In the same house I have an area that is suppossed to have had a Blackrock explosion/corruption in which I've placed some of the black boxes that the shadow furniture items came in.

These are just some ideas. I don't have time to work them out or design them. I may be able to add the pics of my current houses, if desired.

Good luck with your plot! And as always, when you're done, don't forget to show us!
