Crabs, Lobsters!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE remove crabs and lobsters from the game.

There is nothing worse than teaming up with a guild mate and dropping and collection and processing 800 traps only to find 400+ are worthless crabs and lobsters that server NO purpose for the fishing quests

And no, not interested in donating them at 10 points a time, that and the fact the library system is broken and all my entitled chars can not donate, but thats another problem

my fisherman does not catch "fish" anymore, only the named fish, so how about you do the same with the crabs and lobsters

I have taken a break form fishing once since the booster came out already, and really want the chance to get to 120, which is hard enough as it is, not looking for an easy ride, but this worthless grind is REALLY becoming a chore, like being at work!

I know many others have stopped doing the quests for this reason.

So any chance, AND fishers, please feel free to AGREE!!!!!!

uo has always been kinda of a grind game but it seems more and more its leaning toward that in more ways then one and it takes the fun out of the game. as far as feeling like a job its funny Ive felt that way for years and my gf always says and describes uo as his second job that he does nothing but complain about lol...

I haven't even bothered to do those quest because of all the bad feed back and bugs. I would really like to some day and they did say they would be working on the hs booster lets hope it comes out better this go around...

Hear hear! There's nothing worse in the game then having to fill for crabs/lobs.. it's a clicking nightmare and it's not worth the effort. I hope more things don't fall into this uo blackhole.

Crab/Lobster fishing sucks in general but the fact that "Generic" worthless Crabs/Lobsters spawn adds insult to injury and twists the knife further into the UO's players heart

When I and these games were much younger, I would sometimes be willing to grind on things to get certain achievements.

But nowadays I have a rule: If the activity itself is not at least mildly entertaining, I won't grind just for some achievement like a title.

So, I have quit fishing and the fishing quests, which is something that brought me back to UO for a while. I don't play much these days. And in time we all know where that leads.

My heart is still with this game I have loved and played for 13 years, but there has to be something that keeps me with it.

Its sad really. Here is an opportunity wasted.

to avoid coming up empty and/or picking up trash

I'm with you 100%. Its bad enough losing traps with monotonous regularity but allied to getting useless crabs and lobsters it makes fishing mind blowingly boring. That part if fishing p****s me off so much that although they are really expensive if I can I now always buy crab and lobster rather than catch them myself.

If the intention is to turn people off the game I can tell you now they are succeeding beyong their wildest expectations as far as I am concerned. Fishing needs a quick and radical overhaul if they want players to retain an interest in it. Like Amber I took a renewed interest in the game with fishing but its near dead now because of the poor system. With tailoring and smithing if you got a decent bod you KNEW what reward you could get. With fishing you get a decent bod and my experience today speaks for itself.


Like Jack I have been trying to get a 120 scroll and today I really thought I had a chance with a 6 parter of 4 20s and 2 15s which included dungeon fish and crabs and lobsters. What did I get?. YET ANOTHER BLOODY STUPID 'RARE' BOOK. Which is about as much good as a chocolate fireguard and as rare as paper clips.


So not for the first time, filling in a good order I get useless crap. Well done Devs, really well thought out!.


I was stuck for weeks on 110 fishing and if Petra hadnt given me a 115 my fisherman would be in permanent retirement by now.


I do wonder if all our pleading is so much P*****g in the wind. Is there anybody there?.

For once there is something in the game that require work and we'd have to scrap it ??

How about we have free 120 fishing hand outs at the Fish Mongers ?

Things are fine as they are, or almost........

I am ALSO working hard for my 120 Fishing, crabbing, fishing week after week, month after month and it is ok.

What is NOT ok, is that I seem to understand that scripting works for fishing, and crabbing.....

So if there was something that should be removed from the game, IMHO, it should be scripting which makes the game way too easy for some and pointless for others.

Why should some players work hard for something when other players can do it, not even at their keyboards, with scribing ??

THIS is the problem that this game has, IMHO.

I am at 16,000 regular crabs/lobsters and still have not gotten my 120 Fishing Powerscroll....

It takes work and dedication to get a 120 fishing powerscroll or LOTS of luck.

It is well known that the most important quality with fishing is Patience and earning a 120 Fishing Powerscroll requires LOTS of Patience.......

I have been "stuck" on 110 Fishing for 2 months now, if not more, but I keep trying.....

Eventually, I will get my 120, it only needs being persistant...........and patient...........

and to think you did a RMT for that. While 'other' games have grinds too, big difference is that they will essentially pay You (in-game credits spendable for boosters, expansions, items, etc). That seems like a grind worth doing, imo.

I sell Crabs/Lobsters on Pacific, I only sell about 10-20 a week, not as many people buy them as you would think when they are available

Hell yesterday I was desperate to get 30 Green Catfish, i traded 20 Fred Lobster for them.

Of course I didn't do it, but I know a guy who taught his 7 year old grandson how to play a really neat game of catching crabs.

I don't mind it since you can use a day to fish and get stock and then quest next day and so on.

But I would like if you didnt have to wait 5min to pick up the traps and only get 1 crab or nothing, Need bigger traps that can hold 10-50 crabs maybe you could have it down for 1-2 hours or something like that.

I got my 120 after 3 days but I got a lot of 110s and 105s after that. But I done around 2300 quests since I got my 120.

I'm finding crab fishing a lot less onerous since I devised a plan for myself in EC, plus I donate my plains to the library - I now have 700k points towards my boat.
I deploy 12 pots around my rowboat using one EC macro. pick them up when they bob with another, empty them with a third then move the catch to my pack llama with pinco's organiser.

oh and gains from crabbing in deep water > gains from fishing

There is a macro with the Enhanced Client enhanced by Pinco's organizer that allows to move any item to an external container ?

I had no idea...............

Does the macro work for ALL types of crabs and lobsters ? That is, is it possible with the stroke of 1 key to have all crabs, whether regular or named, and all lobsters, whether regular or named, moved to an external container like a pack horse or blue beetle ?

Does it work also for all types of fish ? That is, 1 key moves all types of fish to an external container ?

It's a recent addition and works in very similar way to uoa's organiser.
I have an organiser set to move fish. I had to add the different body types and directions to it, it won't differentiate between names, only body type and orientation.

If it can be done with the Enhanced Client and Pinco's UI, I wonder why then also UOAssist Organizer cannot do it......

I mean, move all wanted items onto a container external from one's own main backpack like a ship's Hold, a secure, a pack animal..........

well,
1. uoa works with classic client, which has totally different coding to EC
2. uoa is in 'maintenance mode', tug will keep it operational by updating when there is a publish, but he's not doing any more development on it. He is no longer active in uo. We're luck it still works at all really. Very little else that I bought as long ago as I bought that still works.
