If there was a house plot where the castle sits and it had locked down items in the zone corresponding to the courtyard.
You just drop the house, then place your castle on it and all the items will remain.
This works with gozas/house addons too.
You could make goza stairs, bridges between the towers and the central block.
I would play around with my castle to do it though ;-p

They won't remain locked down though. They release when the house is dropped.

Well, it happens they don't unlock.
You can come and see my castle
While for gozas/addons, they simply remain where they are. But I believe anyone can chop them.

Hi folks. I decided to update this thread in hopes of having someone reveal this secret. the previous replies are great info. ok, there is this castle which seems to be adding deco to there castles courtyard. :> there is no way they demolished the place. I hope to learn this secret and I am still investigating in game and when I find out I will inform you all,

Has to be some bug when houses drop. My house has a painting stuck right next to the house sign and it cannot be axed, released, or picked up, My wife's house has a stretched hide next to hers and there is a floating painting behind it that looks like it was on a 2nd story at one time. I have also found floating banners and flaming heads where houses once stood. I don't know how they stay but they cannot be removed either except maybe by gm's who don't respond.
Its far more likely that the deco your seeing is being floated on the floors above and just looks like its in the courtyard... there have been several threads discussing techniques for doing this lately and I would guess that that is what your seeing.
