Could this be the beginning of amnesty?

I was just at my bot factory job, and was told to go ahead and create more avatars because if they were created after amnesty, they would only have 10 skill locks. I created one more....and guess how many skill locks I got? 10! Am I dreaming or do I just have incorrect information?

Well in the past the first day it would show 10 and the second day your avatar would show the full 20.
I do know they plan to change that, but I don't think it's in the code yet. Check again tomorrow and see.......then you'll know for sure.

Well I hope not because I was under the impression if I came back to the game BEFORE March 8th that I would get to keep my gifts and skill locks. This was the only reason why I came back then and didn't wait to see what EA Land was all about first. I think it's unfair to all the players that came back before March 8th for anyone that came back after March 8th to receive amnesty rights. Just my opinion.

It isn't a matter of being stingy at all. Why put a date as a condition if they weren't going to honor it. It's like if a store was selling an item ONLY for one day on Saturday for this special price and you went and bought it only to find out that for the next 6 Saturday's the item was being offered at the same price as you bought it. Yes, you still got the item at the same price but so did all the other people that didn't go in that Saturday to buy the item. So why did I rush to resubscribe if I could of just waited? The people from other countries can still play but they just don't get the gifts. Is it my fault they didn't sign up in time? Why do they get extra time. It simply the principle of what they advertised was wrong.

Well then why don't we just extend it until the end of 2008. In fact, why don't we just give everyone who comes back at anytime their anniversary gifts and skill locks? That way we can get tons more subscribers. I'm stingy because I resubscribed by a certain date because that was what was ADVERTISED. Give me a break.

At no point was it said that on "such and such" date,...you would receive the items. How about we realize that it will take a while to not only verify who gets what,...but to actually assign those items?

Did you check before or after maintenance? I have had sims/avatars that took about 24 hrs for the 20 locks to show up. As for the amnesty...I came back before they started advertising so I can't really complain. Im just like a kid in a candy shop. I am excited but I won't quit just because something doesn't happen to the exact day and time it was advertised. I understand how "sensitive" computers and programs are and at any given time something can go wrong. However, I can also understand how it would feel to pay for something because you were promised something and then after you pay you are told you have to wait but you aren't told why. It doesn't matter if it's just a video game or say a credit card that you were promised a certain rate if you opened the account, it's the moral of it. LOL so after this whole book I just wrote I guess all I'm saying is that I see it both ways.

We're all assuming that, just because amnesty hasn't been handed out yet, that the offer is still on the table.

They need to collate all the information then determine all entitlements first, this surely can not be done until after April 30th (ie. the dead line for signing up to be eligible). In light of this, I wouldn't expect to receive any gifts, locks or anything else your sim is due until at least 6 weeks after the dead line, this will be June/July time. Ofcourse, I could be totally wrong, but it makes sense to me

We will be doing various pieces of the gifting and amnesty over the next 2-3 weeks. And if all goes as planned you should receive city-from gifts this week. When we are sure an aspect is working we will let you know via the blog.

This blog entry from Greg was posted on March 25th. Just curious since it has been over 3 weeks if anyone has received any pieces or gifting, amnesty or city-from gifts. I know people will say give them a break they have so much to do but why post this at all. I haven't seen any of this during this time period. Really, if they are going to post information like this and it happens to be delayed then just tell us for god's sake. I think that is mostly what the community is upset about is the promise of things and then we don't get them anywhere near when they said they would be and then hear absolutely nothing about it.

I beg to differ - there are plenty of "facts" posted on the boards that are NOT posted by a dev.

There are also plenty of people that come to these forums looking for information, not just to post their opinion. It helps avoid confusion for those that don't check the forums regularly, when a player's opinion is stated as such, rather then factual - when its not based on anything more then speculation.

If the poster had said "I think amnesty will be a while" then that would have been alot more helpful to those posters seeking clarification, as they wouldn't be concerned that they'd missed an official communication somewhere stating it was going to be delayed.

That says to me that the algorithm is already being worked on, and after that specific date, new rules will apply. We don't know how much is automated and how much isn't so it is entirely possible that the accounts are collated as they are updated and that nothing additional is needed, so that even if an account is brought in at 11:59 pm on April 29, 2008 (though I'd be careful about doing that because they may be looking at PST and not individual time zones since there are so many) it will still count toward being eligible for amnesty automatically without the devs having to do anything towards collating it. It's possible that it won't be the April 30th update that we will receive it on, but I would not expect it to be much after the update that we get the first week of May. Those who are giving it till July are surely not to be disappointed when it does come in May, but nor do I want anybody to take it as gospel and spread it around in game that we might have to wait until July, because I really don't see that as happening. The devs know very well how short a patience level and attention span the majority of the playerbase has, so I think they will act accordingly and give it to us as soon as humanly possible.

As for your concern that some newbies are going to automatically get 4- and 5-year gifts - I have no idea where you got that from. Unless these "newbies" have been paying for their accounts for at least 4-5 years, there is no way they'll be awarded these gifts.

Am I the only who thinks there shouldn't be any new card games or stuff like that until Amnesty is done? I mean sheesh, they promised me my time so long ago. I find it hard to understand how they can calculate how many days I am "entitled" yet they cannot give me the skill locks and gifts they promised which was one of the major selling points in renewing my subscription.

Rather frustrated about the entire thing, but I am sure some smartass in here will give me plenty of reasons why I shouldn't be.

I dont think Amnesty will be cancelled, EA are likely to have law suit on their hands if they do, after all the promises of Amnesty. With all the promises for this. there be many people unhappy.

Ok supposedly the date is for April 30th, to my knowledge it's not the 30th yet so why even throw in the towel if we don't have nay of the complete facts yet. A lot people seem to think that Amnesty will be the 30th. Why not wait 'til then to start pulling your hair out!
