Corgul - whats your secret tricks or tactics

Soo a few of my fellow adventurers decided to go after the sinking islands volcano guardian. We have tried a few times, both ended with sucess but a nice test of wills and sanity.

We have tried mages, bards, tamers, Dexer (Sampire) Archers all in different mixes.

We provoked the spawn onto him and he seems to turn the bodies inot undead which create some havoc, Of course it seems that after a bit of time the spawn eventually dies off and since no bodies are left its just poor old Corgul to beat down. Tamers handled the spawn easily but proved very minimal on damaging corgul. The Sampire didn't seem to be able to leach enough life to stand toe to toe with him and sirvive. It does apear that hiting him with dexer weapons seems to do a nice constant stream of damage.

In then end it was only a matter of time before he sucummed to our batterings. Spell Weavers with level 6 Focus were hitting for over 400 bringing his end that much qicker.

So all in all we are looking at settling on a bard to disco him, mages and dexers to deal damage to him and possibly a tamer or two in the wings to deal with the spawn until they die off?

What are your tricks and tactics that seem to work?

There’s a lot of ways to do Corgul. Sounds like you had a good time figuring it out on your own. But here’s a couple things I’ve found that make the Corgul trips seem to run quickest with the fewest deaths.

It helps quite a bit if everyone will agree to kill off the small spawn before the serious attack on Corgul begins. There are 6 groups of bound souls/brigands/spellbounds/spellslingers that will spawn shortly after the island first pops up – get there soon enough and only Corgul will be there. But within minutes, these 6 groups will spawn at their set locations. I believe that once Corgul starts getting hit, it will trigger 4 more groups, sometimes over existing spawn if you didn’t already kill them. It reduces the chances that Corgul will animate dead if you lure the spawn in the center portion so the bodies are away from Corgul’s starting location and vision. I find a lot of the early deaths at Corgul happen when people go straight for Corgul and the spawn groups get dragged into the fight at various times as they target people targeting Corgul.

Once the spawn is down and animates are taken care of, you can concentrate on Corgul. He has very high resists but doesn’t really hit that hard. Disco, rune beetles and corpse skin are ways to reduce Corgul’s resists and increase the damage you do. Warriors can use armor ignore weapons and/or lightning strike to get good damage.

I also suspect Corgul has some sort of shield protection that is active until (some of) the spawn is down or he takes some damage. I know if I armor ignore him straight away, I only hit him for 1 damage. Many other people also note that initial hits/damage seem really low. Tho eventually I do get normal AI damage on him, I tell people he is invulnerable until we take the spawn down ;).

When i went with friends there was some pets and bard or two, i tried doing this and that but i said screw it and just fireballed him standing pretty much on top of him not worrying about being teleported all over the dang place. That was with my necro spellweaving mage, pets tank stand there and fireball him dont worry about being next to him and you dont have to run back and forth.

Revamp Sampire, take healing istead of parry,anatomy,magicresist...
so,Corgul rejects all of Life-leach but We can heal others a second!!

optimal solution

A few Revamp Sampire-healing each other and sweep brigants suitably.
Disco mage -Disco and healing Sampires
Tamer -use Rune-beetle to reduce Corgul's resit by half
and healing Sampires.

Diggity hit the nail on the head.

Any combination using rune beetles, discord, armor ignore (or lightning strike) or a combination or corpse skin and fire damage takes Corgul down the quickest way possible.

And take down the side spawn first.
