Codex of Virtue

This is the option I got when I clicked my anniversary tickets. Not, as it says on the website, virtue floor deed. No, I don't know what it looks like yet, I've not managed to place it anywhere.

Any ideas why I have codex of virtue instead of virtue floor deed?

I received one also. When double clicked I get a cursor but it cannot be placed anywhere. Hopefully we will get an official answer.

I think that the codex of virtue is big ... which means that you have to have a certain tile space available to place it. I had the same problem myself.

Supposedly it won't fit in a house smaller than 8x8, so although it is itself 6x6 it seems to need space around it as well. Given reports of problems re-deeding it, I'll not be placing one just yet though...

I lifted the soulforge in the guildhouse to give it a whirl and it still wouldn't work. There's at least two tiles either side of it, as well as the space for the soulforge itself.

Also, because you're not able to place deeded items on top of each other currently, you have to make sure the area is empty and free of other deeded items.

And just so you understand, you will not be able to replace other deeded items back on top of it once it's placed.

I had to go on top the center roof of my keep to find a place to see what it looks like. It is a 6x6 and you need to target the center of the area you wish it. I had no issues redeeding it.

then you never can place it. the re-deeding problems will not be fixed i think.
you remember the famous 'mousehole' that went poof sometimes after trying to re-deed it? yesterday i had to redesign my house. i had to redeed the mousehole and thought ah ok 2 yeras later now. that problem is surely fixed since long time. i tryed to reedeed and POOF its gone.
after calling GM i got a caned message that basicaly said:
s**t happens - your problem. (and we have not enough staff or arent inteligent enough to make a simple SQL-Query to the database to check if you really had the item)
the mousehole is worth around 8mio on my shard a normal 1-year old player has to work several weeks to earn 8mio. but s**t happens.... its nothing ea/mythic is interested about.

LIke everyone else in this thread, I also had difficulty placing this tile, because it turns out it was HUGE and needed a lot of space. When it finally placed, it was in a stupid location, crooked, so once I saw what it really is, and how big, etc, I figured I could make room to place it correctly, more centered, to look nice. I used the axe and poof, I lost it. No deed in my backpack at all. Is this supposed to be the way it works? If so, how come there was no warning that I would destroy the item forever?
Someone in this thread said they had no issues redeeding it. So it makes me think that what happened to me is a bug and only happens to some players, sometimes.
I would like more details, if anyone knows more. What can I do, or should have done, to have it redeeded? Is there a chance I can have it back?

must be an item or something common between you all around the area you guys are placing them to have them destroy after axing them....i have placed and axed 2 different codex's at least 10 times in the past day trying to get them both in a position in like on my roof!, also a guildy has been doing the same with 2 of em side by side...no problems at all!, must be some item you all have in common near the area your placing them?

Rest assured, the codex of virtue is not bugged, it works perfectly well. It is just HUGE and thus a bit difficult to place if there are walls or other add-ons in the way

It may be working for some people, but I lost mine tonight when trying to re-deed. Not sure what causes it to work for some and not for others, but be careful when using it.

Yes, to the extent of placing it on the ground. Maybe not for re-deeding so much.

I chopped mine up many times without problem (but ironically lost a bear rug I was trying out). I wonder if it has to do with exactly which tile you are chopping and whether or not you are "in range" of the one you are attempting.

(sort of like how you can be close enough to open a corpse without being close enough to loot it, perhaps it's possible to be close enough to a tile to chop it, but not close enough to receive the deed? just wild speculation - I'm tempted to experiment with mine until I manage to destroy it, but I'm not sure I'm up to making that sacrifice)

We need to find a way to reproduce this ... I spent have an hour placing a codex, chopping it, replacing it, locking things on it, etc and couldn't destroy it (that is to say, it always re-deeded properly).

I did find I could cover a teleporter and cause it to stop functioning from the codex-covered side (making the teleporter one-way only).

Looks nice when it can be placed though

At least it did in my house, but that's because the color of my tiles and house clash well with the Codex.

This earlier Thread about new Vet Rewards and 12th Anniversary gifts will give you a good picture of that carpet or tile and the size of it. Codex of Virtue was a strange name for it ... I hear it's a carpet. A great picture and the huge size is reported in this posting:

Hmm.. That's weird I'm not sure what I did that it didn't work properly, and while I didn't really care about losing the one, I don't want to lose another one testing it out.

Codex of Virtue was a strange name for it ...

As you'd expect, originally the Codex meant a book, and was the term used for the Gargoyle book on their view of the Virtues - but at some point the term 'Codex' started getting used as a name for their diagram of how the Virtues interact, and it's that 'diagram' that is the pattern on the deco Codex.

Well, I wish I had read this first. I placed mine with no problem but when I went to re-deed it to center it, I chopped a big cornor off it. It looks rediculious now. I paged a GM and they left a message saying they couldn't help with stolen or missing items. Its not stolen or missing! Its sitting there with a chunk out of it. What the heck. You finially get gifts, they are bugged, and you can't get in in game visit from the GM to actually take a look at it. Sad...

As like others, I wanted to re-deed my codex and ended up just destroying tiles of it, just like in the picture Tek posted.

When I first placed it, then redeeded to move to different locations to suit the room layout, no problem. Today... ugh!

Doesn't seem like the GM's on Great Lakes are interested either. Paged twice... got to about 6th in the queue, then after an hour each time, not even a queue message...

I wouldn't mind so much if I got a standard "issue" message or something. These things happen I suppose, with such a large game and so much content, but to be blatently ignored by those who's wages I pay... that really gets my goat! Over 4 hours waiting for a response and they don't even have the courtesy...

Well, on Legends I paged a GM and he sent a canned message saying there were problems with this and to report it to an email for bugged items. If they know they are bugged, they should at least delete all of them and give us unbugged items.

Just a note for people still having trouble placing it: the tile you target is the one that will contain the NW "circle" of the central three circles. (the missing tile where the wrist of the pointer is in Tek's picture above)

You still there? I'll try to roust my poor and sleepy Siege characters out of their deep slumber and get them there.

And for anyone else that lost their Codex deed and don't have any way to replace it (short of buying from someone's vendor), send me a PM and I'll try to help. I have a few characters on every shard and don't mind giving up the tickets for a problem like this. Ye just can't have the fancy bags!

Thanks for the offer but in the end I did use one of mine (I had claimed more than one) and tried to destroy it, but through a long series of experiments placing/poking/chopping, it always redeeded properly for me.

(I'm not an expert in mutilating housing decorations, maybe I'll research home and garden section for a bit to see what the common tricks are that someone might have accidentally used)

Target center of where you want it placed. Ax in center too after you see what you got.
