I realize that the hamster is very old by now probable bald and over weight, I guess he lost his hearing can someone get him a hearing aid ? we are all aware he went blind years ago just look at the graphics

The stuff that looks old, are updates and minor edits to existing strings. Such as the one's for the Pies. They took "Cream Pie" in the strings and changed it simply to Pie since it looks like we'll be getting Shepard's Pies to throw, makes the string multifunctional.Some of that is, I think, old.

It could, but with Mesanna mentioning a new "Mini-Booster" at the HoC I'm not counting on it.

Some of that materia used the term "booster" specifically. They said at the HoC that the next booster, you would be able to guess when you saw the new items, but that it wouldn't be a full-fledged booster. This implied, at least to me, that it was a major update, something we wouldn't have to pay for, which is fine.
But from how the term is used in the notes we'll need an entitlement to access some of it. This would appear to suggest we will be paying for it, which is also fine assuming it means more lifetime for the game.

These are positive developments. The content of the scenario means that they planted the seed for it months ago (the hitherto-unexplained Gargoyle separatists in the Abyss), which is neat. Also neat is the mere fact that they are planning the next cycle as they prepare for the end of this one.
Save for that one thing I'm reasonably impressed thus far.

They must think a lot of us have forgotten what they dumped on us with High Seas for $15 a copy. I'm still waiting for what I purchased back in October to start working and be as advertised.
I'm hardly going to give them money for a second Booster when they still haven't provided a working first Booster.

Looks like an update to the trading system that allows users to withdraw money directly from the bank. Also looks like a system for selling pets via vendors. These will be very nice additions, if they go live.

The Tents appear, from the clilocs, to be 1-week (single?) vendor spots that are limited in spots, and resold to the highest bidder each week. Now, that does sound like a gold sink.

You seem to be mixing up a gold sink (which just takes gold out of the 'economy') with balancing wealth and prices for equipment....
I wasn't the one who labled this a sink, Basara was.
If these vendor spots go to the "highest bidder" then those who already have wealth will be the most likely to obtain the spots. Excluding vendor fees, which are trivial, all this does is moves more gold into the seller's hands.

I had a securities license and was tied into the economy back in those days. And I thought that Reagan's policies were working. It's just that you need a lot more time than any 2 term President has. I think it would take about 20 years of consistency for "trickle down" to really work. But there's a lot of other things that tie into it too. For example a Global Economy that, no matter what we were to do, was going to hit us hard.
But UO's system is more like the "small business" issues. UO has none anymore. If you want UO to have a thriving economy, you need to get rid of the overly complicated grip that "items" has on control. It's just too much for small business, i.e. less than elite powergamers, to thrive and compete. Before AoS, there were player vendors and players hawking sales at banks, all over the place. Now it's all in the hands of the few at the top, who have the time to build up their gear and farm out the items, on a continual basis.
Thus was born Luna, and thus did smaller business die out. And thus is the root of the problem.
The smaller businesses didn't necessarily have to die out.
With cooperation between many smaller traders, an alternative to Luna could have been created in the forum of a player run town, or trading outpost. It has been done before, although by richer players, so there is a degree of separation that makes success not proven.
If ten people who wanted to run little shops got together and cooperated, they could have bought a group of houses in a single location, and set up a mini Luna. When word of many well stocked and not unreasonably priced vendors spread, people would start checking the vendors there regularly. This already happens with certain good shops off the beaten track, but would be more likely to happen if it were a collection.
Working together is a bit of a lost art in UO.
Everyone wants to be able to do things solo, or rely on others as little as possible.

It's called capitalism and free market, which work in their true forms. If you make money, you have money to spend. If you don't, you simply can't afford the higher end. Those that whine cause they don't have the money cry foul of elitism, 'rich getting richer' (what is wrong with that, by the way?), catering to the "haves" and shunning the "have nots". really need to pay attention as to how the "haves" put in place changes and rules that dont allow the "haves not" to become wealthy like the "haves" did so the rich will rule. capitalism has failed because of greed and cruel people that dont care about humanity only there bank balance.
most intelligent people can see why the usa has failed its people and why it is slowly becoming a socialist country like European country's to protect its people from the greedy few who rain over them. Without wading into the debate, as I come here to talk UO and have other outlets for RL politics, I feel obligated to point something out.
The phrase "pursuit of happiness" isn't from the Constitution; it's from the Declaration of Independence.
The closest the Constitution comes is the Preamble; and the context of the quote from the Declaration shouldn't be neglected.

I'm a bit lost on how these tent vendors are going to be a gold sink? I mean you have to make a profit to justify whatever you bid on them.
It seems like a step in the right direction (but as usual nowhere near enough). At least it's better than the current situation where 75% of the vendors in Luna are empty because the owners don't even want to bother anymore.
