Even your polls don't make any sense.At the end of the year ...
I don't understand.
1. Stratics is not a democracy, the results of this poll will have no bearing whatsoever on what happens on this board.
2. Posters have a right to post their opinion on any topic related to the game, provided they do so within the rules they agreed to when creating their Stratics account.
3. If too many threads on one topic attempt to take over the board they are liable to be merged, but not removed. Unless the rules are being blatantly ignored.
4. If the thread is deemed to be more appropriate to a different forum, for example 'Spiels and Rants', it might, possibly, be moved.
5. No topic relating to the game is taboo, though some have been done to death and are less welcome by the posters.

Personally I think they should go...
I'm so sick of hearing how wonderful the "old" days were and how awesome a classic shard would be.... I could puke.
Regardless of "classic" all shards would be a heck of a lot more fun and awesome if they really did have a detector for 3rd party programs and really did ban all the cheating scum. But I don't see that happening anytime in the near future.
If you could get rid of the trash and keep the decent folk, send the kiddies back to school and get them out of the game... things might be more fun.
If they spent more time working on community and less time adding things that are clearly designed to make folk work against community and be selfish pigs ..... perhaps things would be different. But the game becomes more and more of a gimmie, gimmie, gimmie what's in it for me, me, me game than a game designed to be a community... and something about good and virtue... it has become corrupt.

Fahyled is talking about removing all the threads about classic shards. I agree, enough is enough. It's like a little kid nagging to get something, even though it may never happen.
I know a certain program that is not even allowed to be named on these boards. It is impossible to say that it does not relate to the game. I think it's time to rewrite your rules.
Awesome example of the hypocrisy found on these boards.

"Removing the existing threads" would only invite an endless series of answering " why not discuss Classic/retro/PrePub# ? " threads.
Which has already been done .... when Classic/retro/PrePub# threads >were on< the deadhorse bannzored list in the FAQ.
ie. they still "came up" ... they just didn't provide a long lived means for trolling/"debating" "the other side".

64=65 is a "good" analogy for the discussion.
"classics" will interminably persist in saying that a "classic" >must be< the correct solution (classic being a 65).
And regardless of how many times and how many ways that the 64's demonstrate and show that >only 64=64 only< ...
there will always be the odd 63 genius "pop up" (64=63=65)

There is no hypocrisy there, only a simple rule. You may not promote or advertise activities which are against the games' Terms of Service.
I - personally, do not, and have never, break the games Terms of Service. I acknowledge my limitations and play within them. I don't use cheat programs in order to appear to be a better player than I really am.

Why should they be locked or deleted? Cal has been dangling this carrot for awhile. Only after there is a yes or no from him should something like this be done.

I didn't vote. good or bad, everyone has an opinion and thoughts. Just because it's not popular, doesn't mean they can't post it. Simply responding back(even if negatively) keeps those thoughts alive. Neither should they be 'labeled' such as silly, stupid, etc - I think that just shows a certain level of immaturity, such as what happens in Other forums. There's a lot of pro-active staff here at stratics. I like coming here about the same as playing UO, and besides, stratics is F2P (Free to Post).

Personally, I'd love to hear what EA is hoping to accomplish with a classic shard.
If they are trying to attract old former players, asking questions on Stratics is not getting to their target audience. To me, it is like going to a mosque and asking whether they like thick cut bacon

I believe a moratorium should be put in place on classic shard threads until cal gives his little speech. Mainly because the very vocal 1-3 people supporting it make the absolute worst arguments in its favor and it actually, imo, does more harm for their cause than good for those who AREN'T being as vocal but still want a classic shard. Kinda like having your four year old child step up to discuss medicaid and issues surrounding illegal immigration when you know that others are WAY more suited to talk about it.

Stratics is owned by TGN, not another company. The Puppets are doing far more damage than good. I second a moratorium until the next expansion is announced.

There are certain users here on UO.stratics.com who support the idea and have logical and provoking thoughts and important input on the idea.
WITH THIS BEING SAID
There are users here who DO not support the idea, and would love more than anything to keep posting these baseless threads (such as this) to annoy the community.
Please Close these pointless endless rant threads (Such as this one) and keep open threads that have some backing to them. I mean if you ban Draconi (Threads) it would be a major step-back for Stratics as a whole.

Whos dreaming now? I mean, you criticize the issue of the classic shard about "How we live in the past" but yet you...... Um well again go back to dream world. Im lost.
Petra basically closed the book on the aim of this thread when she posted in it. But little Fayled continues to bump it long after it's off the front page and dead in hopes it will accomplish something (which Petra already said it will not). The mods will listen to Petra, not some childish poster.

Stratics is owned by TGN, not owned by another company. This vaporware BS is damaging UO, Stratics and TGN.
Sometime since March a Yes/No decision was made. After all the trainwrecks in the last month, have a moratorium until the press release for the next booster.
