When I run the CC on Windows 7 I notice some strange things.
First the login screen works fine. After login things go wacky. I play in windowed mode. The minimize and maximize/resize buttons are in the correct positions on the window title bar, but their functions are reversed. I hit the maximize button and it changes to the resize button, as it should, but if I hit it again it minimizes the screen to the taskbar. If I hit the minimize button it maximizes the window to full screen.

Anyone else seen this?

The mouse runs like crap. I've tried it with "run mouse in separate thread" checked and unchecked, same results. Whenever I perform an action which brings up a target cursor, I click the target then have to wait a second for the target cursor to switch back to a normal cursor. The action I was performing happens while I wait for the target to go away.

Client is generally laggy as well. Run 4 or 5 steps, lag, run again, lag, etc.

I've tried running the client in various compatiblity modes, currently using 98/ME mode. That seemed to work good one day, but not any longer.

Tips?

the minimize, restore and close icons are not in the same place as the actual click area that trigger the wanted action.

I use win7 and classic client fully patched, no problems here. (except for the icons)

You might wanna run 16 million colours instead of 32 though, it helps on lag.
otherwise try update the gfx drivers.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, and the Classic 2D Client, with no problems.

Running pretty much the latest NVidia drivers, allowing applications to determine the Graphics settings for itself (Not forcing Antialising or anything).

The only small problem I sometimes I experience, is the "Ultima Online is Loading..." message before it launches the Client window, can sometimes remain, and churn A LOT of CPU Usage, so sometimes need to end the process (Titled "UO.exe" if memory serves, and is only about 2Mb). But after that it's smooth sailing for me.

If you have a reasonably powerful PC, then maybe look at removing Process' from the Task Manager that aren't needed, maybe order my CPU Usage to see if anything else is hogging brain power. Erm, definately looks at the Graphics Card drivers as Chap suggests. Play around with the Graphics settings, and Performance settings in the client. Maybe disable any extra monitors if you use a Multi-Display setup, sometimes that stumbles some of my games.

Best of luck~

Edit: I'm obsessed with the Task Manager, but when you say it's generally laggy, keep an eye on that to see if anything spikes when you experience the jittery moments... :3

Thanks for the reply but I've already tried it and it didn't help.

Dropping the color depth to 16M helped some, but it's still not as smooth as on my older XP PC.
Try the EC if your Graphics Card is up to snuff.
