i dont' think i'd say that they did a poor job. there will always be people who will look for the loop holes no matter how small and timy, and there will always be people who will exploit it for monetary benefit. just because someone did that, i don't think it its a "poor job". no code is 100% proof solid.
Its definitely a poor job. They failed to code correctly, then failed to test correctly, then failed to communicate the cans and can'ts of what could be dyed and what couldn't. I guess in EA speak that wouldn't be considered doing a poor job. But in most of the real world of business, it surely is.
Yes, no code is 100% perfect. However, a short paragraph when the patch was released specifying what COULD be dyed would have put the burden of responsibility on the user since they would have been informed of what should be happening in advance instead of days and days after the fact.
"Only blah, blah, blah and blah can be dyed with these slimes. Any other items dyed in this manner may end up reverted. Dye outside of this list at your own risk."
Simple and to the point.
Also, I didn't see the devs mention that they were reverting all of the house add ons back to normal wood as well. Are they waiting to post that fact next week to give people a chance to waste money on these items? You would think they would have made both announcements at once. Then again, see above comments regarding the 'poor job'.
