Checks for more than a million

I seem to remember that one time I dismissed a vendor I got a check for more than a million. Does this still work?

If not, we really need to be able to create them, with the current level of inflation and high value items.

I think all checks for 1m+ were converted to 1m checks.. could be wrong.

But when they made the game... It was probably never designed for this much gold.

Anyways.. even adding small digits like that probably adds to lot of memory considering all the checks out there.

How about we go back to the old days where you had to buy castle deeds in order to make room for more gold.

At the maryland town hall the question came up.

Their answer was a strong "no, never will happen".

Which makes no sense if they are not going to try and remove some of the gold from the economy. Bank checks were introduced because item prices were going up. Now this development team doesn't see either the need to remove mass amounts of gold or raise check values?

Imagine if in the real world the government just decide that you couldn't pay for anything with bills larger than $10. How annoying would that get?

 Be pretty easy ... to "take gold" out of the game ... AND leave it to Player choice ... just how much to "have on hand"

ie. no "taxes", no "wipe", no sliding scale conversion or "new" currency ...

Enforce the built in standards of 1 million = 1 item(check) for bags, banks, lockdowns/secures ...

no more "1 tile" atm's of billions of gp ... for 60gp a day

Vendors are not intended to be used as banks.

Vendors only take payment from the gold in their account, which you give them directly, OR from the "Gold held for you" if their account drops to 0.

Ever wonder why there are ANY "empty vendors" ? See plenty of them about ... no biggy ... only costs 60gp aday to stand there ...
and if they ONLY have 1,000,000 "Gold held for OWNER" they'll last ... mmmm 1mil / 60day ...16666 days .... 45.6 years ...
ooooooo handy place to store millio's and millio's more ! huh? I mean ... 45 years ought to be safe .... probably longer than the game will last ... huh?

But but but .. I'm used to using them that way ... yeah? so? you can KEEP your gold ... just gonna cost you one item count per millio ...
a Billion is only 1,000 irems ... time to make some choices ...couldn't hold that many raw checks on this account .. open another, or throw them away ...

playa choice

But but but .. I'm used to using them that way ... yeah? so? Peeps being used to stuff ... like the hyperaccelerated spawn in fel ... can be "fixed" and the playa can adapt ... tis so! I've seen it!

simple fix ... limit the "hang time" for "held for owner" vendor gold ... added bene : EA gets payment for added accounts that just absolutley have to have ... piles and piles and piles of gold ...

LESS gold being "stored for free" ... cause ... lets face it, the math shows it, after the first millio ... the rest IS being stored "free"

Funny, I don't remember that. Did Draconi say it?

A castle deed cost about a million, if I remember right, so they wouldn't save any space now!

Yes, I remember buying things with house deeds in the old days - you could get burned when you turned them in and you got less than par. Kind of like today's property market in fact!

Castles actually cost less than 1 million. Housing prices haven't been properly adjusted for inflation in years. A Castle should probably cost 50 million or more to place now.

Castles used to cost around 3 mill or so. Keeps were hrm 1.5 I think, large marbles 500k etc. Really those suckers should cost a lot more nowadays to place, instead of less.

I was ''more than happy'' to pay less than 1 million (850k odd) to place a decayed castle last week, but yah i think u are right...they should cost a damn sight more....

If I remember correctly from listening to the recording by Whispering Rose Radio of the Q&A segment, it was Draconi that read the question and replied, and then one or two of the other folks from EA that were there also joined in with responding it won't happen. I seem to recall them saying something like, "You would understand why if you've ever seen a house filled with checks."

UO would be so much better off if physical gold coins were removed and as you killed monsters, the gold was automatically loaded to your inventory. So many games do this I can even count 'em all; WoW, EVE, Anarchy Online, AoC etc etc. And how many gold duping problems do they have? Do they have any?
