I'm uncertain how my comments on the state of the game's economy could be twisted so poorly into some sort of personal attack, but you managed to do it... poorly. Perhaps it was that I answered an individual, instead of posting a new thread. I don't know really.
I volunteered to help replace the lost materials. Heck, I even volunteered to give my stuff up (and i was serious too. I spend 4 hours in Haven on LS last night waiting for someone to show so I could give my things to them).
I will rephrase my response to the general populous:
I find it very hard to feel sympathy though, when a massive hoard of resources is lost. We as players should not be able to amass that huge a collection of things! The game was NEVER meant for it and instead of using the tools that the Devs had to control resources and manage the system, they went and made it easier to do! Houses and Banks have limited storage for a reason. The fact that they made the decision to create commodity deeds to condense resources and make storage virtually unlimited is unconscionable and probably one of the worst decisions in the history of this game as far as I can see.
Commodities were supposed to be finite and now they are infinite and out of control.
Once again, I know how hard it is to work for things and I am sorry that the fruits of those efforts was lost, but I think for the good of the game, this stuff needs to be removed in order to save crafting and give new players a chance to get properly integrated into the game.
I hope that clarifies what I am talking about and I'm sorry if anyone was offended. I really like this game and I want to offer my opinions on how it will succeed.
Though I see what you are trying to say, I also think you are think a bit besides the box ...
As I understand, she did as I did, work herself to gather all her items, and saved then with a purpose in mind.
They way you responded I am tempted to ask:
Who are you to judge where and when people should use thier resourses, and play thier game ?
I play UO 10+ years, when I started I trained a Blacksmith, mined my own ingots for this and skilled up as the ingots came in.
Now making a new blacksmith I would mine all ingots at once, and then go sit down and skill up with a nice cup of tea and music.
It seems like you are saying I am playing wrong by doing it this way, I should use up my resources per direct as they come in ?
I cannot have a stock of all colors wood so when a customer comes with a request I can comply ?
The comm deeds take exact the same locks as the stacks of items itself, I do not understand the imbalance here ...
You are saying the game was never meant for this and yet it IS in game.
The fact you do not care for losing anything at all, doesn't meant one other doesn't, and certainly just because you think this way doesn't make it a truth or a law.
I really do think you meant well, but the way you worded it I feel is kind of insulting to the OP, as well and putting in salt in the wound ...
Like it sounds I am happy you lost all your stuff, I don't care you worked your butt off for it for years, you should not have those rewards for your efforts and now they gone .. serves you well for saving your mats and not play the game like ME.
just my 2 cents
