I read yesterday's news post fromt he Live team for the first time just now... One of the takeaways:

The way the guy talked on there he had caught a cheater and did something to his house.... whats the story there?

Well maybe this can help save our Seige population along with RoT cahanges. We have lost so many players because of the lack of accountability for cheats and 3rd party programs. We may see some peeps appear to be running in slow motion now---lol.

well, you are more optimistic than me... I expect 'fixing' cheats or banning accounts that use them will decrease our population by quite a bit... They are by no means rare...

I think he's kinda saying, what he did to Luna on test he can do to cheaters' houses.

He's not destroyed any player property yet, as far as I know. But Haven on mainstream shards, Luna on test and Magincia are all the result of his pyromanical tendancies

Lol, I'd love to see cheater's houses burst into flame and remain burning, with one item randomly deleted every minute, until 1 hour after the speedhacking stops, or until the house is empty at which point it is destroyed, along with the contents of their bank.

I think we've all seen that EA will, on occasion, attempt to do a little something about those who exploit/cheat for profit. IE.. things that effect the economy. Sadly, I do not believe they will ever do a thing about cheating in PvP.

Actually, I like to have the sounds of digging beneath a house before it goes
poof and explodes! No more IDOC on the sign! Only items with the label
Artifact stamped on it are destroyed. Everything else, is scattered like rubble!
Bank checks , commodity deeds, special deeds, and scrolls are burned up by
the fireballs. Armor and weapons melted to scrap metal. Wooden furniture
destroyed. A debris field which lasts several weeks so that a house can not be
placed until it decays.
Yes...this is something to look forward to!

The only reason you would look forward to that is you are too much of a coward to go and grab the things dropped, so you don't want anyone else to have a chance at them...

Krystal as much as I would like to see this happen. EA/OSI will NEVER do anything about the cheaters on ANY of thier shards. Thier population is falling like the twin towers and they need all the revenue they can get. Not being negitive. Its funny on how all this talk years ago with involving punk-buster and other proggies were talked about . Where are they now. Are you telling me that speeder xp / EUO and other programs like that are not detectable ??? Come on.
Back in the day when other programs were out there that you could see invisible people and cast and do other "Fun" things.

Enough said. They never , and I repeat NEVER attempted to stop the programers , web sites or anything other that promoted cheating and hurting the game. its all about the almighty buck.

I feel that they best days were when UO extreme was running , its was a blast. You knew everyone ( IMO ) was useing it. UO has become the Diablo of cheating now. Its sad...

I really laugh at the fact that people on these fourms say - Its game mechanics.... Umm yea... if you dont like it Blah Blah Blah !!!!!!

Kelmo where is the IRON fist laying the hammer down and so called following the RoC. Must have been a bad day when you posted all that stuff about talking about cheating and so forth. Funny on how even the developers and people that are employed BY EA/OSI come on the Stratics and talk about the MAD cheating that is in the game. Are you going to attempt to ban them also , or better yet. Give them a "time Out" ???

I know people who got banned for running uoe back in the day. GMs used to actually show up when you reported an exploiter. I am not sure what game your were playing. Also, I find it wildly amusing that (iyo) everyone ran uoe. Laff.

Lol.... so called "Back in the day" I seen more people being banned for acting out a "****" in UO then any one getting banned for Jerrets programs. But then again maybe you stayed at east brit bank * Shrugs *. BTW: You do know what (IMO) meens do you not..? Thank you. Wipe the egg off your chops its dripping into the keyboard.

Cheating will never stop in this game and they have no desire to stop cheating. I left my production shard due to cheating and I know countless others left for the same reason. But until I moved on to a new game I never realized how prevalent the cheating was in UO.

In UO I always had an amazing ping. I frequently pinged in single digits to Chessy and was always around 15-20 on Siege as I recall. Of course I had a good computer as well but there were always a limited group of players (who referred to themselves as l33t pvpr's) that could outrun, outcast, outeverything me in terms of game speed. I heard all the crap about game mechanics, etc. but I always knew the truth about the cheating.

I have been playing WOW for about 9 months. Honestly the game is a shell of what UO has to offer. WOW stinks for pvp, the customization is lame, the gameplay is mediocre, the community rots...I could go on. WOW is inferior to UO in every way but one - there is no cheating in WOW pvp.

In 9 months of playing WOW I have not encountered ONE PERSON who can run faster than me. Not one. Amazingly we all run at the same speed (excluding game speed increases for enchants, race, etc). In UO with only 225,000 subscribers I encountered countless people who could skip off my screen. Yet WOW, with over a million subscribers, has no one who can outrun me. Coincidence?

As much as WOW stinks as compared to UO (and believe me it stinks) at least I know it is a fair game, and that is why I keep playing.

Sadly, I agree. A few weeks ago, I got frustrated with the same crap that Tilly mentioned. I packed up my soulstones, selected "Close account at next billing cycle", and informed my guild that I was leaving and they would need to quickly find someone to hold the guild supply house I had been caring for.

I left, and went to play the game I played before UO. I heard that they had finally cleaned up the cheating, so I went to check it out. Boy did they ever clean up the cheating, it was amazing! For about six hours. At that opint I realized how lame that game was compared to UO... even with all the stupid crap that happens here.

Nice to see you again Tilly. Hope to see you in game again someday dude.
