So if Mythic added the functionality of some cheat programs and scripts into the client so they were legal to use, would you be against this or ok with this?
Agreed, Alot of scripts perform a whole list of actions at once included waking, clicking in certain places etc which obviously can't be added as a function as it's far more than a 'function'. A little more detail about what you mean would be great....
Define "the functionality of some cheat programs and scripts" first.
There is an 'open door' function in the 2d options list. I use it regularly to open doors in front of me on the run.Personally, I'd like to see the following.
Auto Open Corpse.
Auto Open Doors.
Block Self Dismount.
Resize CC Game Window.

Yes pleaseAuto Open Corpse
I can't find this, only an option to create a macro for it. Am I missing something or is that what you mean? There is an 'open door' function in the 2d options list. I use it regularly to open doors in front of me on the run.
Holy shiz! This rampant cheating needs to be put to a stop!Do you mean things like
setting window size to 1024x768
Auto-unequip (defineable hand) to drink potion + Rearm
Multiple "arm weapon" sets and "Smart Arming" (push arm 2, disarms current, arms new item)
Auto Corpse opening
Suit Dressing (multiple) and "Smart Dressing" (press dress 2, removes items not on dress 2, and replaces them with the listed items)
the ability put target self, and target last on mousewheel
the ability to mute annoying in game things (animal & pack sounds, weather, bard music)
a filter for repeating messages
an option to block dismount when in war mode (for you clickers out there)
a counter/display across the top of the window allowing for definable objects and custom information
the ability to auto-screenshot your kills
and possibley even "drink specific potion/enchanted apples/grapes of wrath etc" macros?!
Naw, you couldn't mean all that stuff, there is no way anyone could get ANY of those functions to work in uo. rolleyes:
Personally, I'd like to see the following.

Auto Open Doors.
Block Self Dismount.

You seem to be playing the decade old version of UO instead of the current version. The affect of player skill drops considerably when gear is added to the mix. It used to be that way sure, not so much anymore. Hell your post is riddled with opinions you state as if they are fact. In my opinion DoTA allows vastly more room for player skill than UO does and I don't even like the game.Well, these along with speeding and automatic potion drinking and healing with bandages..? For everyone? Sure, why not?
Let's take personal skill completely out of the game!!! Hurray! rolleyes: Click 'N' Go!... NOT. Let me explain how I see this..
..... What makes UO's game-play(and that's by itself one reason keeping certain people from going over to other games, especially PVPers) far superior to any other game out there is the player's direct involvement, in short how good the player is not only with their macros but also co-ordination and reflexes. For instance if I were to compare it to WOW's(un-avoidable example I suppose) game-play; You have cool-down timers on everything, all you need to do there is find the right order and create a string to execute against a specific target that will react in a very specific and restricted way to your attacks. It's a 1-2-3 thing.
In Ultima Online you really need to think fast and be creative.
And the fact that there are no set classes means the players have to improvise on the spot.
Now, adding ALL of those functions would over-simplify it down to the levels of DOTA(a WC3 modification, look it up to see what I mean) and even lower to be honest with you- I've seen matches in DOTA that really surprised me!
EA/M could stop such programs from being effective by adding timers to everything(mind, timers on potions is something that is needed but that's not the point here) and turning this into WOW Jr but that would be a huge mistake. They could also implement those functions and pretty much end up doing the same mistake really.
The most obvious solution would be efforts to eliminate cheat programs that automate actions which define players' skills. Let's start from there..?And from removing speed-hacks of course.
As a side-note the "smart" re-arming is in. That or my game's bugged in a very nice way since I can do what you describe already. And I am 99% sure it will work the same for "smart" equipping of suits. (Running Enhanced Client here)
No offense but this makes me doubt you've ever done any serious PvP in WoW at all, because what you describe isn't even close to what takes place at the high end. What happens when they don't do what you expect them to and your 1-2-3 combo breaks down? What if ability 2 misses or is dodged or absorbed? What happens when 1-2-3 works perfectly and you kill them, and then next round they adapt because you're predictable and faceplant you? I'm not touting wow's PvP greatness here, it falls in the same gear trap that UO is in, as well as the class-based problem. Just what you said and your comparison isn't true in the least. You have cool-down timers on everything, all you need to do there is find the right order and create a string to execute against a specific target that will react in a very specific and restricted way to your attacks. It's a 1-2-3 thing.
The players that benefit are using illegal programs, as far as I know. The one thing I would like to see in the client is the script that allows "selective" looting of a corpse.
<snip>
No more need to spend time looking at items one by one, press one key and what is wanted ends in backpack leaving the unwanted stuff on corpse.
I heard some advanced scripts do selective looting like this and I do not see why only some players should benefit from such a time saver.
Agreed. The players that benefit are using illegal programs, as far as I know.
A time saver like Auto Looting...may as well be a big red Easy button sitting on a desk in my opinion.
I would not be for Auto Looting. I would be for an auto open on a corpse I have looting rights to, if within a certain tile range. It would need to be toggle-able, I think, else Champ Spawns could get ugly.
But I sure don't think Auto Loot should be an option, personally.
Well, this is still where UO falls flat on its nose. There's so much loot and so many properties with vastly different ranges, that it is near impossible for most people to not only keep up with their own character, their surroundings, mobs, etc. but also having to read through it all, evaluating every piece for value. The players that benefit are using illegal programs, as far as I know.

Sorry for not reading whole thread, but I do agree. I would be so happy if I could use a legal program to do all my illegal duping. So if Mythic added the functionality of some cheat programs and scripts into the client so they were legal to use, would you be against this or ok with this?
So admit to duping, nice, lol.Sorry for not reading whole thread, but I do agree. I would be so happy if I could use a legal program to do all my illegal duping.
