Charybdis baits

We have fought Charybdis twice now and all went as expected. But at the third attempt we could not even summon Charybdis.
We found the right location (yes we are sure) and we had the right bait. However, instead of summoning the monster or the message that only bubbles are to see we caught a normal fish!
Yes, the fisher had the oracle of the sea in his backpack.
So we checked everything again but the next attempt yielded the same result. Is this a bug or what went wrong? The only explanation we could think of is that someone else had fought Charybdis and the summoning is blocked now. But surely you would get a message that the cool down time is still running and not waste a bait? Or is this what happened?
Who has similar experiences or knows what is going on?

that's why exist the fisherman suit that increase by 50% the chance to summon charybdis

I remember reading that there was a limit to how many times he could be pulled up on a shard. I believe it was like once every 7 hours or something of that nature. It is possible that someone has done him and he cannot be fished up.

Just a thought.. but might want to verify.

The limit is per spyglass, I have done him 3 times in 1 hour before. If you were not getting the bubbles message you were in the wrong spot, or He is broken.

I have not gone to do him in a couple of weeks, so i do not know if he is in fact broken or working properly.

My guild did it 3 days ago and I got some fish and it took a few more baits than before, but have not done so many I can tell if it was normal or not. Also If you have more than one Oracle you can get new coordinates when the first Charybdis is killed.. Unfortunately our ship was more than usual damaged this time so we used some white nets instead. More nets than we used to to summon one Scalis so I guess we just had a bad night

I don't even know anyone who has done Charybdis. I have no idea why the devs feel the need to put a giant grind into even just seeing a boss. It's terrible, 75% of the game doesn't even know Charybdis exists.

Unfortunately you seem to be right. When I got my first Oracle, not long ago, Everyone I told said "whats that" and what is Charybdis. I soon got another and tried to sell one. Meh..no interest really. A new boss? Oracle? what is that for? Got a third. Sold it cheap ..no way I could keep up with baits to need three oracles! I got a bait once, and I do fishing quests a l o t!

Well, I wrote the Charybdis article in the guide myself. And of course are we wearing the fisherman's suit when fishing Charybdis up. If the bait fails you get a message that there are only bubbles to see. But why sometimes the bait is lost with no reaction at all is not clear. I reckon it is either a bug or it is planned that you loose a bait if someone else has already summoned Charybdis. But shouldn't that result in a message like "Charybdis has already been summoned and therefore your bait is lost" or so? These baits sell for 3 million per use. What is wrong here? Anyone knowing please tell.

We try to help here but hard to tell with so little experience.. After the Charybdis hunt this Sunday when I clicked the Oracle I used, I got the message about the cool down time. I clicked the unused Oracle and got new coordinates. Im aso sure I got some fish instead of bubbles. But more often bubbles. Im on Europa. Wasted 5 baits before we got lucky. Not sure if this helps but its all I have to contribute with..

I had the same problem several times. Right spot (thanks Pinco !), fisherman suit and caught only stupid fish without any "bubble"-message. The least they should do is giving us the bubble-message, if you consider the effort it takes to get the baits. You feel a bit stupid if you catch a 1-3 Million gold shad.....

What I understand so far is that when you are on the right spot and you want to fish up Charybdis three things can happen:
1) The monster is summoned
2) The bait works but you are not lucky ("all you see is bubbles...")
3) The bait fails completely (you catch a normal fish).

Surely, options 1) and 2) work as intended. Option 3) is probably a bug. Next time it happens I will report it in game. *sigh*
