Thinking of making the switch to Siege and was wondering what type toon would be best all round for being able to support himself aa and thrive.
Thanks in Advance
What is your playstyle, PvM, PvE, PvP, Pk? What do you consider supporting yourself and thriving?

I came to Siege around four years back to use the last of my game time on my way out the door not intending to let it hit me on the rump as I left. Fell in love with this Shard and, being seriously into crafting at the time, set up two characters, a crafter and a gatherer. I've got something like twelve million gold and am a happy camper with that, some though consider that to be mere stray change under the couch cushions. :)

My two characters here are Landreu [LBSS], all crafting skills other than Magery and GM Spellweaving to do Arcane Focus's, and Tanivar [LBSS] who typically runs around as a Legendary Mage/Spellweaver doing gathering to keep Landreu's supplies stocked up. Tanivar does the magic crafting like scrolls and such, and has a variety of skills on a dozen and a half soulstones. The play I do is laid back and relaxed, rarely running with the Big Dogs who go after the mega-hp monsters. What works for me.

Thanks for your reply. My style would be a lot like yours .I would like to get be able to make enough gold to get my resources for training and eventually have enough to get a house .I thought you can only have 1 toon and didn't know if I needed to do crafting or a hunting type. I play PvM
Thanks again

As chargar said the easiest way it's a mystic for PvM.. But if you want you can try also this kind a template with Tailor,Armslore,Imbuing (to make your suit) and Magery, Mystic,Focus. For last skill you can take meditation or resisting or hiding. It's just a suggestion and i'm sure you'll get more advice from all other players :).

It is one toon per account on Siege, I kept two accounts active.

Siege has the RoT (Rate of Training?) system that has of 70 skill you gain a training point every so many minutes, 5 minutes at 70-80 skill. This really decreases the resources you need for training skills that use them. You run a timer, then train the skill once or twice and get a skill gain, no dozens and dozens of training attempts required with RoT that eat up resources.

If we connect in game I'll friend you to my house and you can use Landreu's shop to train your crafting skills. The location is below my sig.

Off to indulge in breakfast then back to setting up my new macro set. :)

Yes you can only have one char on each account. Some of us do have more than one account and some do have lots of soulstones.
Training do not cost as much in resources on Siege as our skill system, Rate over Time, RoT is a great help here.

I agree with Chargar, Mystice could be the way to go and imbuing to unraw all the magic loot. Maybe get tailoring, armslore, mining and smithing and some magery for gating too.

It all depend what you like to do. And start collection soulstones, you will need them :)

To get your first house, look at New Magincia Stall vendors and see what they buy, there will be some you can collect to make soe gold.

Or you buy sovereign on Origin store and then you use them to buy Soulstone with the ingame store or you have to buy them from other players :D

Tectop,

The very best advice I can give you is to join [NOOB]. This is a guild specifically setup for new Siege players. With the [NOOB] tag, you will be protected to some extent, and you will find people very willing to get you started. After the month of experience you get there, you'll have a better idea of the shard and can then join a guild suited to your taste. Plus, that intro guild will get you bonuses and discounts. Our [SPHS] fishing tourney starts today and there are special prizes for folks in that guild. Seek Tanager, she runs it out of a house in Zento.

I like 120 Necro, 100 SS, 120 mystic, 120 imbue, 50 mage, 100 hide and 90 stealth and jewel mage to 80 Always made a decent PvM gold and resource farming template for me. 125 str 125 int and 10 dex with a generic max MR MI LRC imbued suit that won't break the bank if you lose it. Enough mage to gate around. Enough mojo with the mystic and necro to solo a whole lot of stuff, enough healing power with SS, healing stone and greater heals to survive most PvM stuff. And as a bonus you can imbue your own suits. For imbue gains collect a couple of crates of greater and major junk and unravel a piece or two on the ROT timer for the gains.

lots of posts already but I'll tell about my own experience :D

I never tried to make money crafting because it's not my thing. EVERYTIME I tried to serious play on any shard on all my UO life I created a tamer first, I feel like taming is a very good skill to have to defeat lots of different monsters, so, for me, it's the easy way to start and earn lots of gold by farming everything. IMO it will take a while to raise(until u get in RoT) but it's worthy in the end

by the way, lots of ppl say about Myst being an awsome pvm, can someone explain to me please? it's just because of the rising colossus or there are some other things?

It's awesome because the game still allows the cast, invis, watch, loot mechanics. For the record I have 120 myst but I don't abuse it, and imo its an abuse and always has been. If you have a summons, the second you cast invis on yourself that summons should vanish. I don't like that, I don't like free gating to a ship with 0 magery, there's a lot I don't like :p :pirate:

Good to see the list of things you DO like is still much shorter than the things you DON'T like :) Gotta be consistent if nothing else!

Another quick tip, when you get taming and lore into rot you can use any level of taming mastery to gain your .1 all the way to 120. It is quicker than actually taming things, especially if you can get your hands on an alacrity.

A discord mystic is really powerfull in pvm, but there are some situations where a discord tamer would be better. Depends on what your farming. I will say though at some point you will have to pick up imbuing.
