Change to Disciple Quest for Spellweaving?

I'm following UO Stratics and UOGuide for the Discipline quest. I went to Sanctuary. I made it through alive. I talked to Koole the Arcanist and he wanted me to kill 10 Ogres. So, battling Titans, Dopplegangers, Changelings, and Ogres, I finally killed 10. But, when I go back, he just wants me to kill Ogre Lords. No offer for spellweaving. All the guides say he'll want me to kill rats. Did the quest change?

Also, the traps in the Sanctuary caves are gone and replaced by a lot of ratmen, ratmen archers and ratmen mages. I ran through there and didn't hit any traps.

strange, I just stealthed through Sanctuary, Koole on Europa asks for 50 rats, as normal
Are you sure it was Koole you spoke to? Elder Onallan gives this quest:

I did an All Names to find him. I spoke to Koole and it shows up in my quest chain as Koole. Hrm...

I'm not sure what's going on, but you're certainly on the wrong quest - check the quest title against the chain in the link I gave you.

Thanks. I did look it up when I saw your reply with that information so I'm going to quit my current chain quest and try again. I must have hit a glitch somehow.

Found what I think might be the issue. I had accepted the Patience quest for Spellweaving in the past. For some reason, I had quit the quest, but failed to quit the quest chain. I found this out on TC1 when I went to test the Patience quest to see if I got that one. The character was a copy of the original. So, I went back to Atlantic and talked to the elves in Heartwood and I'm on the Patience quest again.

Can you get to the Exodus Dung to finish the patience quest?

The Exodus dungeon is accessible. However, I ran into a few paragons there so I headed to the Gargoyle camp that you pass on the way to Exodus and fulfilled the quest there.
