Well you may as well have just posted a news article or transcript for each shard. I don't see the point in making people watch an automated character (well, it was somebody just pushing pre-recorded macros).
Anyway, the people who got the event in fel are lucky. At least they would have gotten some excitement.
Initially, I thought it was a pre-recorded event, much like the Ricardo trial, so I just observed but tomorrow I plan to have much more to say to Casca. As for the event itself, there are many reasons to have it. First, many players such as myself enjoy them. If you don't, don't go. Simple. Don't ruin it for the rest of us though. Second, this is a good event for the EMs to get their feet wet. Third, it's a reminder to the playerbase that the team has the story moving forward. I could go on and on here.
4th. It was a complete waste of players time. It would have been more beneficial to have just left an NPC scripting that speech over and over or simply put a news article on uo.com. Nobody, deep down, wants to sit there and read what some NPC (it was an NPC) is spouting. They want to go out into a duengon and find a statue which they then have to use keywords to unlock Casca's stance on issues.
See in the space of 10 seconds I just came up with a better idea than that hunk of crap that was put forward before my eyes. It's an MMO devs, your meant to INVOLVE the players in it.
Bollocks. I literally asked a question (just one!) several times without spamming. Did I get a response? Nope. And I'm sure the questions which Casca answered on shards would have just been simpleton rubbish such as "whoa man can i hav ur sash bro?" or "how r u standing on dat thing? how i get up?!!". Even if Casca managed to respond to a proper question it was probably an answer like "Soon" or "We'll see", as the EM's are probably bound to not saying anything other than the script as per the order of LORD GLAMDRING, OVERLORD OF EM'S.
Now I wait for the resounding whines from trammies about my posts in regarding to this issue and I'll expect to get butchered for being one of the few people who see through the charade that is the current dev team.

I have requested a meeting with Casca, but he does not acknowledge me.

Never mind that I said I enjoyed myself, so that whole nobody wants to sit there and watch this thing is utterly false. Sort of ruins all your credibility from that point on. As for interaction, we got it in Pacific when Sherry got mad at players for calling her a rat. Now if Casca is the king of Britannia, why would we go to a dungeon to hear what his stance is. Sorry, but your idea doesn't sound all that good to me.
Because when there's like 12 people at the event on Oceania, he's going to answer the only question being directed towards him, rite? Wrong.

I did not attend the event.
I sent my request through the proper diplomatic channels.
Rumors have spread that some Casca supporters would like to see my sister and I arrested.
While she is indeed advocating violence, I am not. I merely want to speak with this man.
Morgana wants to start another faction, but she does not understand that this further divides our people...when what they truly need is unity.

i agree Casca must be stopped, he will lead our land's to ruin's.

At the very least, this introduction to events has moved some of the conversations we'd typically have around here in-game so that players will actually be chatting with players.
(I stalked one overly enthusiastic blacksmith around Britain to watch who his contacts ... unfortunately mid-conversation I accidentally hit the secret key-combination to make my UI disappear and, after failing to reproduce the accident to reverse it, had to go off googling how to get it back which unfortunately spoiled the idea)

Well, did Sherry actually rescue Avery and Ricardo? They were hinting at an execution. Casca is obviously the bad guy there.
Casca said (on Baja) that his priority was to "end the invasions" not "defeat the Shadowlords".
Sherry basically said "go along with him", so they want to give him the rope to hang himself.
So, the dramatic execution of Avery and Ricardo, where we all pull out the glass daggers?

I am sorry if that is how it seems to you. I certainly do not consider myself above any of the citizens of Sosaria.
I have fought beside them, been killed by them, resurrected them, healed them, laughed with them, cried with them, died with them, shared stories with them, listened to their stories, helped their guilds and families, and have been helped by them for as long as I have been alive.
I am one of them.
I am not sure the same can be said of Casca. My instinct tells me otherwise.
I make no claim to be the best choice of ruler for our lands. I only relate the tale of Lord British's wishes as they applied to me.
Lord British was a citizen of Sosaria as well...and one of the kindest, most caring, and dedicated of them that I have ever encountered. He was a man of virtue and honor, and I personally respect his memory.
I would not expect anyone in this land to follow me based solely on my own merit. I am not a noble. I am not even what I would call a hero. But I am one of you, the citizens of Sosaria, and it just happened to be that Lord British wanted me to succeed him.
I think this claim to the throne is more valid than this deceit that Casca is weaving.

hmm dont know if u gotta be specialy invited to be a part of this event.. but on europa all that seem to happen was a few words , lets for no apparent reason kill some spawning baalrons outside Brit , and then the so called King goes puff and peopel look at each other asking themself's if that was that ....

So we have The Pretender claiming the throne in Blackthorn's castle while the Shadowlords are loose while other pretenders stake a claim of their own (in their own minds).
We have a "Royal Council" that was oddly eliminated before this supposed edict vaulting The Pretender to the throne.
But by the samer token, I cannot support Ricardo the thief since he was responsible for the Ophidian Invasion some time back.
And noone's seen anything of The Doctor since he attempted to make contact some time back. (someone will get the reference)
There's a third way... but it is not yet revealed I think.

I think you are right there will be more options in the future all the shards seem to have similar speeches I think what is going on is the EM's are in charge and they are being given the reigns so to speak I am sure they all have the same desired end effect its just the path to get there may be different on each shard depending on there EM's just my thoughts

It has just occurred to me that Avery and Ricardo are playing the roles of Order and Chaos. Their joining forces represents the alliance of O/C against the Shadowlords, who are Evil.
Casca may have been taken over by the SLs the way Melissa was, not sure.
We still need to find the apprentice's notes, Sutek and the Vortex Cube in order to mount an expedition against the SL base, don't we?

The EM on GL played Casca very well...the speech was not over the top like some shards. Was quite neat.

Japanese players are also enjoying things in UO in these days, I think.
What about Casca events on Japanese shards? Are they run also by individual Seers on each shard?
I went to Britain and asked a Town Crier about Casca as FoF suggests, but there happend nothing yet on Japanese shards.
Are they preparing our own events now? Or will something else be going to happen?
Since EA Japan doesn't communicate directly with players, we don't know much about how the Casca Events will be run on our shards.
Are they also going to be run by individual Seers?
