I have been researching my guild that I have been a part of since I started playin in 97 /98. I found this page seriously amusing when you consider that Carpet tile placement was only put in place in the past year. It has been available in the game since 2001 just was never implemented.

Yes... we already knew that.

What you fail to take into account by your amusement is that what we got instead of carpet and marble tiles was the custom house system. They expanded the scope of the project and added in one of the most unique, cool features of UO.

Years later, they took the carpet system and decided to use it.

I don't see it as all that amusing... just a small part of it didn't make it in, and what we got in place of it was superb.

The Bard Masteries are first proposed, even with the current names of the spellsongs, around 2002. Its normal really. Since the developers focus on changes they think urgent, even the systems proposed by them in the first place might be postponed.

Necromancy was around, in idea form, from UO's beginning. Took years to implement.

To be honest, I would have liked carpets a bit earlier - like - before I chose a bunch as 9th anniversary rewards :D

Necro was even in alpha form prior to aos, during the time alchemy was being made more advanced.

Yeah, I think I know a little about the carpets and floor tiles :p

Alchemy and Necro were and attempt, I want to say a little before T2A but not entirely certain, that went HORRIBLY GAMEBREAKINGLY WRONG and was shelved for years until AOS.

Carpet and floor tiles were dropped from development due to you being able to place them outside houses and literally walk over mountains/water. They tried to restrain them to only place in houses but it failed.

Actually, there was at least one ritual live on Test Center just before Designer Dragon left the team for SWG and all work on it and Advanced Alchemy was scrapped.

That's because that early long-pre-AOS version of Necromancy and Advanced Alchemy was gamebreakingly bugged.

I remember one of the bigger bugs basically renderred a character permanently stuck if they used a Stoneskin potion. As in you are stuck on this one tile and the ONLY way you could ever move again was to DELETE THE CHARACTER.

If I remember correctly, Necro had the same problem, but was even worse in that you could cause the effect to hapopen to other players (basically an Ultimate Grief).

Needless to say, those two systems were then LONG since scrapped and Necro was back-burnered for YEARS afterward until AOS.
