Interesting thought, though many of the rewards it gives are no longer as valued as they were.
I wouldn't say 'no' to another opportunity to get flutes of renewal and I'm guessing Leurocian's mempo would still be popular.

As an intellectual excercise only, if you were choosing the items for a new wave of 'treasures' which of the items we've had previously would you include and which would you leave out?

I'd just include all of them. Only a couple minor artifacts are likely to be considered useful (deco, mempo of fortune, pigments, flute), but most of the majors have value. At the same time, if they wanted to add a few more I don't think many people would complain.

The Treasures of Tokuno should indeed drop again.

This would accomplish several purposes.

  • Something unique and particular to the Tokuno map.
  • Source of turn-in points.
  • Chance to get artifacts for those who missed it and who need to use rather than sell the artifacts. (Currently some of the still-useful items, both major and minor, simultaneously neither are quite worth selling nor within the reach of some of those who could benefit from them.)
  • SOME of the artifacts, even with more of them on the market, are likely to still have SOME sale value. (RBC; Daimyo's Helm.)
Tokuno could become a good place to train characters. It has a good range of monsters if you know where, and how, to look, and a new character could acquire useful items as he or she trained and advanced from, say, the orc tribes north of Zento to the Onis.

I for one am all for this, because these are honestly the only artifacts that drop off monsters that we don't already have access to. Even the new things in despise and cove drop arties that are even more useful to some extent. I just personally thought that turning them off in the first place was a marketing scheme cause at one point in time you could actually buy these pigments from the original uo store. Although this does make these items more valuable they are not considered to OP to just let us have them. I mean after all we would still have to farm for them anyway. This is definitely a good idea, and I would even vote for it to stay on cause there is honestly no reason to keep them from us.

ONLY if they make the dyes stackable this time around!

Other than that, sure, I'm all for giving people something fun and useful to do in Tokuno for a change.

Yes and bring back the original pigments. And the Leurocian mempo.

And keep it on, really. No reason not to, Tokuno is pretty dead otherwise (although I guess most places are actually)

Yes! I really really love the system where it is random, but you're still more or less guaranteed to get a drop after you spent X effort on it.

The selection of items could get an update but even without an update it would be great.

I'd really like luck gear for dexxers (Luck + Lower Mana Cost, Stam Increase, Dex Increase, HCI/DCI/DI/SSI, Strength)

The game is saturated with Tokuno items. Look at the low prices on those items. These items have been stockpiled sky high and are sitting collecting dust in many players homes.

Last time Tokuno was turned on ran for far too long. Players parked in Tokuno farming 24/7.

I'm all for players having fun and experiencing something nice. I was very excited when I came back and they turned it on again but the excitement doesn't last long. Is there an influx of new players to UO that I'm not aware of that never got to experience ToK?

If they turn it on maybe they should leave it on but the drop rate should be divided by 10 or 20.

Tokuno drops have been scripted into Oblivion, there is no shortage of Tokuno items in UO.

Maybe turn it on again in....5 more years?

The whole process of ToT was poorly designed and lead to an oversaturation of items.

By todays standards of item mods, most of the "treasures" are complete junk. If they were to bring them back i would hope they could at least do a mod overhaul to match the rest of todays mods of useable items and add them as a possible special drop to the spawn.

Right now there's only 3 items that i currently use today.
Lucky mempo
Tome of lost knowledge
Neon Dyes

Now i see the Kasa being used a lot in quick SDI mage suit building but it's just borderline outdated.

I would love to have ToT back! This has always been my favorite event in UO. That said, it is time for some minor and major artifact adjustments. At the minimum they could add some new major items you could choose.

Personally, I would like a ToT like system for Ilshenar and the Abyss with unique minor and major drops. I would use the exact same construct. I also would consider leaving the system on permanently like the cleanup system.

Tweek the items dropped from the ToT drops and the Ilsh drops. Add a few new items to the list with some more deco items to fluff the drop rate. No need to turn down the odds if they are worth turn in points. And what ever diety's belly you rub for wishes and good fortune make the Marties Imbuable. Hell make all the Doom Arty Imbuable and tweek those drops and add more. Sad thing is all those items with arty title on the top are shadowed by first level Shame spawn drops and thse don't even have arty on the bottom. Only the new spawned stuff can be imbued and maybe new titles. That way the old gear are collector thing. Don't piss on the history and just breath some life into the old. No need to pull a rabbit out your cracks every new quarter.

You know when the tokuno treasure hunt was going more players used the ame and had fun... Tokuno had people in it...
As or Petra's question...
I can see a few of the items to be kept
Flutes
mempo
Spell book +15 to magery is nothingto sneeze at for a less exp player
Gloves of Sun (great 18 lrc idk if can be imbued)
farmers kasa still has a use for beginnner tamers
I did collect the vase's and sword stands and pigments

MAjors and minors list could be shifted out on some and replaced with upgraded fits for the time we are at now... different deco etc..

as titled..
Here is the Tokuno history:
from time to time the planets alignement turn all the creatures (even the most peaceful) in bloodthirsty greedy thieves. In this period, all the creatures raid the house of the good people of Tokuno leaving them with just their clothes... in fact they like to steal especially the urns of their dead the swords of such deads just for sport.
During this hard times, all the people from every world come to tokuno to kill everything that moves and take those "treasures" and keep it to theirself, leaving the poor Tokuno citizens without nothing.

So basically asking for a new Tokuno Treasure event is asking to the people of Tokuno to lose all their belonging once more time... you clearly hate this people and you want them in rags begging you to give them back their belongings... that's pure evil.

I've been in favor of a rotating facet concept where you had the event on Tokuno for a certain period of time, then Ilshenar, then Trammel, then Malas, then Felucca, repeat or switch up. In the process, have a set of dyes that are unique to each facet (i.e. original Tokuno Dyes for Tokuno, ToT 2 dyes (aka original metal hues) for Felucca, the current metal hues (Dull Copper, Shadow, Copper, Bronze, Gold, Agapite, Verite, Valorite) for Trammel, ToT 3 dyes for Ilshenar and a new set for Malas), then tweak the other item rewards on occasion.

Again, the biggest problem to this remains the size of the dev team and ability to keep it updated.

Tok dyes doesnt need to be stackable, devs just need to use the same feature that they used on runic tools. Maybe a GM alchemist should be able to click on a dye, target a second dye of same color and just create a dye with 2 charges and a max of 50 charges will be ok.

I hope the devs doesnt waste a second of their time enabling ToT again but use their time to revamp more dungeons or maybe do a quick revamp on Doom. Just add the "new" loot on the bosses, give them a bit more HP so it takes more than a few secs to kill em and thats all.. it will be enough to people to go there again, at least for a couple weeks.

pd: ToT = lots of scripters, Doom = no scripters at all.

Permanent ToT would likely reduce the amount of scripting a lot, and really there isn't much incentive to script it even if it were temporary.

Also I don't know for sure but I'd like to say enabling ToT would require almost no effort.

They should do it but make some new artifacts. I mean who cares about collecting the same ol' near-worthless crap until it becomes TOTALLY worthless?

Would be cool for a ToT revamp..newer dyes not these two time dyes, maybe an item id change deed although not sure how that would work..would be nice however to turn my Detective boots to sandals..get some creativity back into the game

Item rename deed..
Conjurers Garb to "Insert Name"

Artifacts is an easy one nothing overpowered and make them imbuable!!!
Ex:

The Impaler: Base: Spear
45ssi
Blood Drinker
60% Damage Increase
100% "Random" Damage

Leaves 2 Mods Imbuable

Even make them player added..
Devs list what artifacts they want in game with rules 2 mods not about 120% intensity and we name them..

5 items every 6 months..not like the dyes
