It does matter. A huge part of UO is the economic game play. This affects white seeds and legitimate white cloth. It takes something away from the game play. Just ask that one dipskit that plans on making a killing over time from this.So rather than make something useful out of a mess (which arose largely because of the zero testing done on the 13th anni items, but hey, it's cheaper not to bother...) they have yet again gone for the worst possible quick 'fix' that leaves people who made the thing and used it better off than those who did not, and stops a nice way for people who wanted having any of the cloth item drops dyed white as well.
Certainly reacted fast to it though - was that what's been making the servers crash, or causing the shedload of bugs in HS, or maybe making the gamecodes site mess up for people? I suspect the answer to all those is no, but it's much easier to 'fix' something that really does not matter.
They could have come out of this looking quite good - instead, I swear, EA must have competitions to think up the most asinine ways to address everything.......
I'll rephrase that then, since that's a fair point (I'm assuming by 'white seeds' you're meaning plant stains from white plant cuttings? I'd not heard it was possible to dye the actual seeds, and doubt that was possible, but I can't be sure). It does matter. A huge part of UO is the economic game play. This affects white seeds and legitimate white cloth. It takes something away from the game play. Just ask that one dipskit that plans on making a killing over time from this.
I really don't know, hehe. I also don't know for sure if the tubs were reverted, I don't have any. I'll have to ask a friend. If they ever said that, then they are lying or just don't know how.
Then again, they could have done this type of thing before with all the other exploits and haven't.
That's impossible Korik. No one wins the game, not even the rich and famous. They won... THE GAME!!!!
Public ones certainly seem to have been.I really don't know, hehe. I also don't know for sure if the tubs were reverted, I don't have any. I'll have to ask a friend.
Then I suspect you're not paying enough attention ... something walked through 'bug testing', was 'modified' and used by some, and the 'fix' by EA is to leave all the illegally created items out there but take away the method of creating them (until the next bug anyway).Yeah yeah, the price of white dye will fluctuate 2% or something based on this. Boo hoo. All I hear are people looking for something to be butthurt about.
So, you weren't playing 3 years ago when all the duped vine cords got turned into normal sandals???I really don't know, hehe. I also don't know for sure if the tubs were reverted, I don't have any. I'll have to ask a friend.
But I do know that I can't remember an item revert in the past. As I recall, it was harder for a dev to fix items in a house versus items in a bank box or player backpack, and that some items in game would be fixed if left in a bank or player's pack versus house storage.
for real not sure how long you have been playing but have they ever fixed one of their mistakes the right way just look at fel it answers all your question and doubts. they still try to force us into fel by putting ps scrolls and the new items for deco in the abyss knowing its completely screwed up I wont even get into the scripts and hacksThen I suspect you're not paying enough attention ... something walked through 'bug testing', was 'modified' and used by some, and the 'fix' by EA is to leave all the illegally created items out there but take away the method of creating them (until the next bug anyway).
There could have been ways to adapt what happened into a more positive solution, but those would need a little work - which isn't an option, apparently. Whereas a 'quick fix' that looks OK if you ignore the fact that the material EA seem not to want in the game was already there - stable door shut after the horse is gone, again....
White cloth might or might not be a huge issue for the game economics, but the underlying problem this highlights is a very real one - stuff is not tested, not thought through, chucked out and then 'reverted' because that's a quick and nasty 'fix' that fails to do anything genuinely effective.
It's the same old sloppy process that led to 'illegal' items in the past, and so many other problems it would be almost laughable, except that it keeps on illustrating that quality control and understanding of impact of stuff like this on the game is pretty much nonexistant.
The hundreds of bolts I had a friend dye for me will make me a fortune even at that price.Everyone relax.
Im sure players made bizzillions of bolts.
In a month youll find it for 25k or 50k a bolt.
Anyway, everyone should have known right away that they weren't going to ban for this. About 75% of Atlantic was wearing white cloth the first night the bug really went public. What were they going to do, ban the entire game?
It was a harmless bug that didn't really hurt anything. You guys shouldn't cry just because you were too scared to cash in like the rest of us.
I'm perfectly willing to sell in small lots over the course of years. It's free money.
Good answer from someone who is going to make money from an exploit.Yeah yeah, the price of white dye will fluctuate 2% or something based on this. Boo hoo. All I hear are people looking for something to be butthurt about.
EA has cut them to the bone without cutting their workload. Stuff is going to slip through the cracks. As things go, this was pretty harmless. They're certainly not going to spend ages thinking of a way to turn all tub-dyed white cloth in the game into something else without touching legit white cloth or tub-dyed white leather. Nor are they going to sit around making up and testing a quest for a white cloth tub just to pacify a few nubs on Stratics. It's the same old sloppy process that led to 'illegal' items in the past, and so many other problems it would be almost laughable, except that it keeps on illustrating that quality control and understanding of impact of stuff like this on the game is pretty much nonexistant.
Ah good point. Yeah I remember that. So, you weren't playing 3 years ago when all the duped vine cords got turned into normal sandals???
I made a post about a week before that saying that there was no reason for them to even be in the game. The original pair were lost, therefore all the ones in the game were dups, knowing that, they should all be deleted/removed.So, you weren't playing 3 years ago when all the duped vine cords got turned into normal sandals???
Playing long enough to have seen all these 'bugs' repeated, new ones brought in, customer service slide into oblivion and any attention to detail by EA be lost since it's cheaper not to bother... and I'm fed up with the crap they feed people when they have one of the best games ever on their hands and repeatedly fail to handle it sensibly.for real not sure how long you have been playing but have they ever fixed one of their mistakes the right way just look at fel it answers all your question and doubts.
Stuff like this was getting through long before the last round of 'cutting to the bone', that's a convenient smokescreen for some lousy underlying QA failures. EA always quote the need for 'efficiency' as if it's an excuse for poor work, and it isn't.EA has cut them to the bone without cutting their workload. Stuff is going to slip through the cracks.
