Can the "User Data" folder be moved...

I have a laptop that is provided by my work. While on trips and at home and the main PC is in use I would like to be able to fire up UO. I have my "My Documents" folder mapped over to a network drive so my work stuff is backed up. My problem is that when I try to change any settings the client tries to write the info in the User Data folder that is on the shared drive. I can fire up a VPN or move my My Documents back to the local machine, but before I do all that is there a way to move the directory that UO uses? Can I point it to the local drive or am I SOL.

AFAIK, there are no config options in the UO client to redirect where the client files are stored. They changed it to store settings to "My Documents" as per Windows' standard.

Now because your company has configured your laptop to redirect "My Documents" to a server, I take it they have also set it as an offline folder (or have it redirected to another local folder plus some other way to keep the files sync'd) so that you can access you files even while not connected to the network.

If it's properly configured, it should allow you to write to the local replica of "My Documents" without problems when you are not connected to the company network. Is it not doing this but instead trying to always connect to the server?

Or is what you want, to sync the UO "User Data" files in "My Documents" between your laptop and a 3rd machine (your home PC), so that you don't have to manually copy them?

In this case, you will need to install a configurable 3rd party synchronizing program to sync the "User Data" folder between your laptop and PC. Goggle for "folder sync utility".
