Can someone explain this please?

I was re-doing my lot today....trying to move the rooms in two squares. Anyway, I left the windows in the original walls until I was done so I didn't lose them. At one point, I was in my bar/lounge. I have a light in it and 4 windows, but it's still dark. However, at one point, the original lounge was the size of a hallway since I moved everything over 2 squares. Well, I noticed that the room/hallway was completely lit up. I could see the rug better than ever. But in the actual bar/lounge where everything was (even the light) it was still dark. What's up with that?

Ahhh one of my favorite things, if there are no lamps in a room a sim goes in at sim night the whole room will light up! This save alot of objects when your close to limit.

Windows do a fine job of keeping it lit in the day too!

If you have a very tiny room, one window / light is enough to light it up.

If you have a huge room, it will require a lot of windows / lights to light it up.

I find that fireplaces do a good job in lighting up rooms.

Yes, like Niki said, it's the anti-light phenomenon. It's part of the original Sims, too. If there's no light source in a room, it'll be fully bright.

But put any sort of light in, and it starts playing with lit & shadowed areas.

Solution...light sources are a complete waste of space & object. They can serve to help a room score, but they can also hurt room score. So I find other ways to boost room score and almost never use lamps. Your rooms are brighter without them. Bring even one in, and you need a bunch of them. Not worth the bother, and I hate the slanty light shading effects.

Shoot! I forgot about that little detail. Thanks Niki. Anyone want a chandelier? It was too expensive to just delete. Too bad, too..it went great with the decor.
