Calling all Fisherman for an Ice Fishing Contest????

Ok for the Holidays I am thinking of throwing and Ice Fishing Contest.

Heres my idea

Entrance fee - 10 - 50 K per entry
Fishing Catagories - Big FIsh, Big Hearring, Big Mud Puppy
Contest will last a number of days? Monday thru friday next week. 21 Dec - 1 Jan????
Each day 10% f the daily entry fee used to pay the big fish of the day in each catagory.
On the 1st we will pay out 20% of remaining kitty to winner each catagory and the remaining 40% paid to the overall largerst fish.

Now each day at around say 6 - 7 EST i will log in to take entries and collect fees. ( If an EM would like to help out and collect and moderate I would LOVE it as it would take care of people not trusting me)
Once you bring an entry you will have to give me the entry and the entry fee. I will record the entry on a log with name weight and day turned in.

I will create a Ice Fishing channel while I am in for this event, no ICQ please as there are bad people out there who expoit it.

the winners will have their fish mounted before they are returned.

If i get 10 or more yesses to this I will beging working on the execution of this.

The hardest thing about these contests is there's nothing to prevent players from entering their biggest catches they've got saved at home - no way to prove a catch was caught within the time frame of the contest (which then might as well be a, "bring me your biggest catch ever!" contest). It's a bummer because there's definitely a different element to a contest where you have to catch within the allotted time - always a slave to the RNG

If there was a way to prevent people from entering previously caught fish, I'd be interested.

Other issue with this for the big fish is people will go buy a big fish from a vendor.

Maybe put a rule in that the big fish has to have your character name on it.

I think these contests will be ran once a month, and the fish that was turned in previsouly is turned in and then won't be used again. So if people have got it from their home they might win that contest but will have to go fish for another fish for the next contest. As for turning in a fish with your name on it I agree with that idea, but it isn't my contest. First few contests will be just what people has laying around which isn't a big deal they still caught it at some point. Things will balance out down the road though.

Yes large fish have to have a name on it I totally agree, And tru if it is a one time thing a stockpile could be used but once they are mounted they are done.

I guess Ill just try and get a monthly big fish thread locked for ATL. And perhaps I can work more with the Ms to try and get a monthly one organized.
