Lol back when I first got introduced to UO and knew nothing of the "official" game I was introduced via the free shards and its what got me hooked. Went through about 5 I think each with varying degrees of easy. Like getting full skill and spells. Having gates to just about everywhere. Dye tubs of every imaginable color (horrible shades of neon included).
I wouldn't be hooked on UO if I hadn't started life on those shards.

What is here is much more than a game... and I am also unable to "play" right now.
EA seems to give free play time to ppl with big credit cielings... but others just get told to wait patiently ?
How extreemly ironic and timely... I am relishing in extreeme bliss.
With a very objective standpoint UO :
Born an innocent baby in the arms of a member of PHI KAPPA PSI, with lore indicating strong liking for the templar knights, buddha and whatnot.
Created the first strong community online (stratics)
Created the first money for nothing system which inevitably due to strong community led to an elite club of profeteers which became the "evil" of the game in both roleplaying and powergaming circles.
Story of the game became so exacly fit with the events of the real world (which is by the way one of the major points of the ULTIMA series, that the guardian wants to control both the earth and sosaria) that violence erupted as lawsuits formed.
At that point the violence culminated in a few intimidation attempts, which apparently suceeded in baby british being fed over to the dogs at EA who had no idea what this brainchild was.
EA chops off UO into many body parts because it cannot understand what it represents and where the violence comes from. EA ponders... was this the arm, was this the leg ?
WHAT A STRANGE MUTATED CHILD !!! hmm... a compassionate woman is not what we need, we need a MECHANICIAN !
EA patches up UO to look like another EQ clone.
EA sees violence come from the UO community as a whole, thinks stratics the culprit, strike, miss, violence seems to seep through their fingers.
More gold is sold, elite profeeteers oficially make more cash than the UO franchise.
EA pulls its hairs off like a disgruntled Homer.
EA puts UO and community under a very sophisticated vice, its sole purpose and we can see plenty of proof here ; with ample reflections in the real world... sole purpose being divide and conquer.
It works, but see how powerful we are when united... 10 years later, they're still gnawing at us and have not hit one single bone yet...

If EA wanted to kill UO, they would just do it. They wouldn't spend millions on migrating UO to the new accounting system if they wanted UO to die, because that's wasted money. They would just do pull the plug, something they do to many games every single year.
What happened is, well the results are that EA has 130 million accounts through Origin.com and they are now using those accounts to try and get other developers to publish their games through Origin.com. EA wants to compete with Steam and they are even moving EA games off of Steam and in the case of Star Wars, are making Star Wars available online only through Origin.com.
A lot of these problems happened with Camelot, Warhammer, and even Star Wars. UO's problems were a little more severe because of uogamecodes.com and the housing situation, but all of them had problems, and there are still threads from people in the SWTOR forums who are having account migration and linking problems with their pre-orders which has panicked some due to the betas being tied to accounts. And it's not just MMO players or would-be MMO players in the case of SWTOR, who are having serious issues with Origin - this thread in the Origin forum will give you a good chuckle. Lot of people having billing or purchase issues, even with Battlefield 3, which is on the same level as Star Wars, as far as being a flagship title.
This again? Most of us reading this aren't Chinese, and NetDragon has yet to produce a single in-game screenshot or video of UO.
You seriously...wow. You took Richard Garriott wanting to do a new Facebook game, and by the way he owns the rights to Lord British, and wanting to use some Ultima lore in said Facebook game and you extrapolated that all the way out to him working with NetDragon on a UO game? You didn't even bother to read the interviews with him, did you? You beat certain other conspiracy theorists. Hands-down, they pale in comparison to you.
I'll give you a hint: Paul Barnett has been trying to drum up executive support for a new Ultima game, it has nothing to do with UO, it's most likely Facebook based, and he twitters about it a lot. What happened to Richard Garriott is that he picked the absolute worst time to try and ask EA to let him use the Ultima IP. Once Paul Barnett gets his hands on something, he won't let go until he finds something else that's shiny to distract him. This isn't even the case of Chris Roberts apparently getting permission to do a new Wing Commander.
It is a cluster **** by EA. Rather than sort out issues from the Star Wars migrations in July, they plunged headlong into the UO, Camelot, and Warhammer migrations, where along with the same issues that arose during the Star Wars migrations, new issues involving uogamecodes.com and some other things popped up.
And don't forget that with the new system, they have had a lot of pre-order and account problems with Star Wars and Battlefield 3. Star Wars and Battlefield 3 are the two biggest titles that EA will be releasing within the next year (BF3 is next month) and both of those games have individually sold more in pre-orders than UO, Camelot, and Warhammer combined will bring in during a typical year.
If EA can **** up the new system in regards to pre-orders for their two biggest games, then the problem is a lot bigger than UO.

Yes WAR and DoAC have had problems, but they have been very minor compared to UO. There is a major difference between cant link an account versus cant play, cant pay, cant use gametime codes, missing characters, double billed, houses dropping. Anyway 1 + 1 = 2.
To the OP, you can try uogamecodes.com to buy game time codes, otherwise this might be a blessing in disguise.

Holy **** not only is Chris Roberts working on a new Wing Commander, EA is relaunching the Syndicate series.

Same thing happened to me. I got a note about how 1 of my accounts had expired. I couldn't fix it at all through the menus. Cutomer service got it fixed though thrrough live chat.

I miss my UO and all my friends who continue the struggle to play...lol, i'm actually quite happy in lotro now, f2p and i love the water and trees effects so perhaps this was the 'push' i needed to move up.
But if you find yourself in lotro on Crickhollow shard - give me a yell and I'll set you up with some $$$ and equipment - just like I used to for folks returning to UO.
I really hope they fix this and other problems soon. I hate to see this grand 'ol game run into the ground. I would love to be able to say "Hello Sosaria" instead of "whew, glad I'm not there at the moment"...

I called after playing the phone system game got a person whew. We went through everything seems the problem is with the debit card/cc processing system. So the higher lvl people will have to look into it ugh. On a side note even the guy, i was talking to couldn't access the acnt system. From the mythic page for some odd reason eventhough i was in it.
To my freinds i'll try to get my icq running, lol I got a new system now and setup is a royal pain. But wowsers this sytem screams with speed. luvin this I7 cpu.

It's true no one should have to 'hang in there' but we are a part of an old meets new system in many ways. The transition is not easy but necessary regardless of how many hurdles seem to be set up in front of us sometimes.

Do you have another acct friended or co-owner to the house so you can relocate your items if it comes down to it? Perhaps someone you trust has a spare acct they would let you set-up or set-up for you to store your items on at the least "if you can access" your items via someone's account who has co-ownership or access to your storage? Just an idea.
The reason I mention this is I have a friend on Atl that had a CC card expire on him but I was friended on one acct and co-owner on another. I saw it decaying, tried calling him, he had changed his number, etc so I got everything from his castle held it all on mules and a spare acct I managed to get an 18X18 on. He only lost stuff like plants and other worthless objects, all he lost was the stuff I didn't have access to before the castle fell. The fun part was putting bags of junk inside the castle chests and watching the 80 or so idoc looters fussing. XD
He's very happy now and has all of his hard earned treasures and the 18x18.

Well, here's another idea. I used to IDOC quite a bit and once you get to know everyone, "most" people will work together and cooperate. I was at an IDOC with Maling and a few others on Atl and noticed a lot of people from one guild that I rarely see doing idocs so I asked them what was up and they claimed the house belonged to one of their guildies who was in the hospital and they were trying to save his/her belongings. I only saw 2 people out of possibly 45 not help them recover the items.
So, the point being, if worse comes to worst it seems that you have a lot of friends encouraging you on here. Perhaps they know idoc'rs and perhaps they can be there to gather a lot of your items for you "if" the worst case scenario happens. Sometimes people can be awesome despite our differences.

You can still buy game codes. And if you play from Europa it is even cheaper.
