The next thing in the contest is to ask:

Are all your chars 6X legendary and 7X gms
Neither, if you know the skill levels needed for most things you don't need 120 or 100 in every skill.

I was there with you when you did it, so yeah, you have done it. :coco:
I played the Tamer. I healed a Pet. YOU played a Gimped Sampire (So you say)...or Someone Did...

YOU or THEY exploited...I didn't like it...any more than I liked YOU exploiting the Nix deal.

I DIDN'T exploit...my Tamer had the skill for the pet, and didn't control the Pet without that skill, on the Tamer.

You or whomever played the Gimped Out Sampire did just that.

I didn't say anything...but I guess it's time:

You Played Gimp Exploitative Tactics In UO...I Didn't Like Them...Not One Bit.

You equate that with my disliking the fact that you could Gimp out and Solo, with no Jewels or Items On, with someone playing in the same instance as my accepting Exploiting, as with Nix, NPC Vendors, or your, or anyone Else's Sampire.

Wrong answer. YOU gimped. YOU exploited. Not me.

I am not hurt one bit by what I

And I stand by it.

I am pleased with what they did. I don't like exploiters.

You don't have a Vendor at my house because of how you exploited the game in whatever way you could, and gloated about it. About how much you could make...It isn't cool, or admirable to do that. It is Lame.

I'm not bitter at all. I'm a bit miffed they did exactly what they said they weren't going to do, right on the heels of them saying they weren't going to do it, without any warning at all. Other than that, I've already taken steps to reworking things so I'll be right back to doing what I was before.
And as long as you do it legitimately, as I said, then Good for You.

As I said, I wonder what everyone's excuse is going to be next. This one is no longer valid.
I guess we will all have to wait and see what "Everyone Else's Excuse Will Be"...whatever that may mean.

I doubt anyone who has played this game for more than 15 minutes will fault a person who uses non-exploitative and sound game mechanics (like Skill, Quick Reflexes, Etc) to their advantage, to solo anyhting, including Peerless, DFs, or the like. Using Exploits to do it...is...well...let's see:

Lame.

Yeah...that's what it is. Lame.

Being happy and lording over it are 2 different things. Maybe you should go back and reread what you wrote, because on this end of it, it's a lot more than just you being happy about it.

Personally....All of you playing Sampires? I think you all will adjust, adapt, regroup, and continue to be very effective players.

I even think "Sampires" will continue to be a very good PvM template they will just be altered....It'll become a Necro-Warrior with parry and bushido.

Sorry for the silly question - but why do you need anat in that template? With no healing - what good is anat?

For the full duration of evasion, you need GM Tactics and Anatomy.
As of the PvP Fix publish.

This was a totally unnecessary remark.

It is well known that Baghdaddy was the person that brought on the age of the Sampire. You can go to the Warrior forum even now and see the sticky that has been present in that forum, and previously the Bushido forum, for several years now.
I have to disagree. Sampires were out at the beginning of SE. As with most of stratics post they are deleted after an X amount of time and I believe Ravenspire made the first post on Sampires, though back then it was a good pvp template before all the nerfs to ls, perfection, damage caps, and the most recent pvp changes such as requiring 90 tactics.

Back then I ran my main dexer
120 bush
120 swords
120 parry
120 resist
90 healing
81 anat
69 Necro

Though I will say he kept the knowledge alive and contributed to the community.

You're right Sheridan.

I should have known better than to think someone could have been objective, but instead get half truths and bits & pieces of conversations taken out of context, which then get used to try and slander me.

I should have known better, and do now.

You know, people that don't always follow the rules tend to bend things to thier own skewed point of view, not that I'm saying anything specific about anyone. Not anyone at all. Just making a point. I can honestly say that I've never broken any rules in UO. I just wish everyone could say the same.

Ah well. I'm out.....

Except for one more reply....

Sure thing.

I don't want to bicker...and I sure wasn't the one that brought up any personal things initially...and for the record...I don't slander or use half truths, when describing these past events or actions. I speak the Gospel Truth, in such matters And if a person calls it Slander, then it would have to make one wonder, IMO, as well. :eek:snap: But you are right...those are things best left to PMs, indeed.

I also don't play a Gimped Sampire...never have...not that that's breaking the rules or anything....it just bends them way past the point of objectivity, IMO.

But there you go...I guess that is the difference...being able to be Objective about a good fix for the game. And I certainly feel it is a Good Fix, indeed.

They do need to fix Disco now, and any other exploitative "Bending" of game mechanics that just doesn't make sense, getting back on topic...a person that has discoed a creature, that then takes off their jewelery or items, and drops below the level need to disco the creature, should lose Disco, then, IMO.

Re: Bye bye Sampires!!!
Bye bye indeed!

I have hardly logged in since that wonderful event last August that I suspect I'm not even allowed to mention in these forums. Despite having never owned a significant runic hammer in my life and never sold any gold or collected any "rares", it felt awful to see how little each of us was worth as individuals. Observing how I myself might be treated in the event of some mistake on their part was disturbing, and it made me disengage from UO. It wasn't a decision on my part to disengage, it just happened.

I would log in, look around, and feel like I didn't want to be there. Then, understandably, I'd log out.

But, I had not closed my account because I was thinking that I would like to help my guild out now and then, and I'd like to do some things with my SAMMY DEXER as well.

With this sick and stupid change going in, I'll be closing my account and moving on 100% now.

I'm headed for better-managed lands where things are not snatched away from people with nothing left to replace them. Lands where templates are thought all the way out before they are implemented, and because of the extreme care in the design of such things, anything that might be snatched away from you in the future will be small (as opposed with entire template builds being flushed down the toilet, over, and over again, while other equally-powerful template builds are allowed to persist).

One day last week, my guild's supplies in another land were robbed blind by someone using a hacked account. By the next morning, the GMs had retrieved all of the stolen items and stashed them in the guildmaster's bank. The guildmaster logged in and was wondering why the guild supplies were in his personal bank, and had to be told what had happened. Picture that.

One of my former guildmasters in UO had an entire keep stolen from him this way, and he got no help at all. Nothing....

When you put your pet on a target there, the pet goes on target. No line of sight issues and absolutely no getting stuck on house signs or the corners of buildings. That little bugger can zip its way down spiral staircases, and it can find its way through buildings faster than I can.

After this dumb change, I won't have any chars left in Ultima Online worth keeping around.

Bye bye, all! You said it!

It's not even a decision, it's just that there's nothing there, now.

And no you can't have my **** and no i'm not leaving an idoc for those weird hoarders who already have houses and houses full of ****. I've never understood what makes people hoard virtual items like that. I just hope they do not also have RL pets in those quantities.

In the future, I don't think there's any way in this world I'll go near anything that's got Ultima Online/Mythic/EA associated with it. Additionally, I've checked the 'net for the names of the top people who are involved with this thing so I can stay away from them as well.

Maybe it's best to just stay away from any MMORPG that doesn't demonstrate a huge and skyrocketing playerbase, maybe that's the strongest indication that the people running it have a good handle on things. Let the game's numbers do the talking.

There is an alternate Sampire template, as well as a viable Wammy template. If you're interested send me a PM and I'll give ya the details.

Its not bye bye.

Its just weaker and harder to play.... that's all.

But again, learn to adapt maybe?

There are many situations where they nerfed my templates, I am very sad at the beginning, but after adjusting my items, skills for awhile, I feel it is okay again.

So its just time matter.

I think it is a fair change.

If you ask me, do I want this change? I would say no. Because it really ruined many of my pvp and pvm characters. But its life, I will learn to adapt it in next patch. I have already changed 2 of my characters to 0 necromancy from original 35 necromancy (pvp)

I will raise my pvm chars to 100 necromancy and deduct other skills such as bushido, anatomy and some resisting.

I also will make my spawn sampire to 100 necromancy, but 3 x 100 necromancy will take me probably 1 month to finish training @@ *headache*

This change is just to make sampire harder to play and skills harder to adjust but nothing more.

So I will adapt instead of whine.

The bonus is retained in whatever they've crafted.
Did you ever actually use a crafting talisman?

One major difference (besides those already pointed out to you)...

Crafting talismans don't allow you to Do anything you couldn't do without them.
If you are 0.1 skill below what it takes to make a plate gorget, you STILL can't make a plate gorget if you put on a +30 blacksmithing talisman.

For your arguments to apply, all necro gear would have to be changed from +skill to +%. So you would have to have 99 REAL necromancy to be able to cast Vamp form, and the gear would just mean you didn't fizzle so many times to get it to happen.

Which is the way all +skill items Should be IMO.

Some people can be ignorant. If they want to make +skill items to work the same way as skill talismans the minimum requirement is to have the real skill met. So for the crying sampires they would still need 99 real necro skill to use a +necro skill talisman. Which will only increase the successful chance of casting the spell. So go ahead and make +skill same as +% and you would need the minimum to use it which for vamp form is... unfortunately 99 necromancy.

I still want to see tamer pets exploding out of the stable when they take their jewels off and their stable slots decrease.
This would be the fair way to go. Reason they are changing it is because people were complaining about it. Cant compare both 100%, but its still in same ballpark.

Sampire: was able to remain in form by puttin on jewelry and taking it off
==> using techniques while there template normally shouldnt allow it
Tamer: uses skill jewelry to have more stable slots, while there template normally shouldnt allow it.

So basically, tamers should no longer be allowed to have there extra pet slots by adding on skill jewelry. Now dont get me wrong, i'd like to keep my extra pet slots as much as u do :D But then again, i didnt want me sampire having to rebuild his template neither (only took me 1 day thou :p). Would be fair way to go ;)

All this really means is that to play a Sampire you will need to have a significant amount of "real" Necromancy on your template. You can no longer have the advantages of Necromancy without the disadvantages of having it.

I will just concur by saying:

A. Fewer people will play the template

B. The template wont be extinct due to people who know how to adapt and not get into a "set" "must have" mentality of certain armor pieces. Easily gotten around with jewelry and other alternative items.

C. Additionally, as someone pointed out...there are other good samurai templates.

I am not sure, but it seems to my understanding that only people have played the vamp sam template. It's not any other secret the other templates that you can use but...apparently it must be. So, I'll help the process:

from letter C. example template:

And...I didn't make this up either:

Samurai Max Dmg Template

120 Swords
120 Anatomy
120 Tactics
90 Healing
100 Parry
100 Bushido
70 Chivalry

My template isn't the exact same but...is similar. Use +items and take away/add to other of the skills as needed.

For people dead set on the necro template...I would get over the "set item" idea. In my playing with the template last night...didn't make a difference to have FC or FCR on anything.

Just get good stuff with DCI/HI on it and a LITTLE +necro and +chivalry. Done deal.

Thanks to Connor for his suggestions for adjustments to my template. I now have 100 Necro (again), and kept my suit, swapped jewelry and weapon. Now I am doing MORE damage and healing MORE from VE than I was before. My only loss is about 5 HCI/5DCI, +10 in stats down to about 310 total. My mana leech more than doubled.

So... I say thank you EA for the change and prodding me to improve my template.

Great news. They didnt kill sampires all they did was giving it to players who truly deserve it. Like spending skill points in necromancy to use necromancy spell... duh.
