I'm building some casting suites for me and some friends. I'm just getting back into the game so I'm still learning. Ok, so heres the questions:

1. What should I use? Barbed Leather?

2. Aside from a tailoring talisman and a barbed runic kit, are there any other tools I should use when attempting to build my suit?

3. What armor types are the best for casters?

4. What skills should I have on my crafter for optimal results? My crafter is all maxed out on skills and I have soul stones so I can move things around. 120 blacksmithing/tailoring and the other stuff.

5. What should I be aiming for in terms of enhancements and how do I aim for them? Like 100% LRC, LMC, etc etc

6. How does enhancing work and is it somthing I will need to do? What parts of the suit will have to come from that and Imbueing?

7. Anything I should know that I haven't asked? Still relearning the game and this will be my first attempt at crafting.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you have the Stygian Abyss expansion, it has really changed how suits are put together, as pieces can be custom built to an extent with Imbuing. Note, however, that runics can still theoretically create better items than imbuing (but you're at the mercy of the random number generator).

Without it, Tailor, or crafting Samurai Empire platemail exeptionally with a high-end runic hammer, are the ways to go.

All enhancing with materials adds is more resists, and maybe some luck, durability or lower requirements. The luck and lower requirements count against imbuing properties, and material bonuses are replaced by imbued ones if you craft with the material, or enhance, before the imbuing. Enhancing can be done after imbuing, to add on top of the imbued properties, but with a high chance of breaking the item. Note that items that are Imbued can't have Powder of Fortification (what used to be called Powder of Temperment, but now works on all items with durability, not just smith ones) used on them.

I'd probably make a few runic items, then try to imbue around them to finish the suit (cheaper that way).

So ideally you would use the PoF before you imbue?

Does samurai plate automatically have mage armor on it? Would I want to use valorite ingots? I have a +30 blacksmithing talisman and a +60 ancient hammer and a valorite hammer I can use if I were to go this route.

As for tailoring, what steps would I want to take exactly to maximize my efforts?

Samurai is meddable if exceptionally made; however, consume one of the five property slots. Use leather unless you are going for the metal look, because there is no reason to waste a property slot.

A luck suit or high phys use spined, for high fire use horned, but for the most effective material bonus use barbed.

You will enhance when you use more arties in your suit. Using arties in general lowers your overall starting resists so you need to boost the resists beyond what an item normally has. Let's say you want mana, LMC, MR, and LRC on one piece well that only gets you like a weight of 50% on the resist. Imbuing the resist first and then enhance you can get closer to 100% weight on the resist. This was just an arbitrary example.

In the casters forum you can get suit ideas. You would need to figure out what your suit needs and then you make the choice between how many arties. I would make a choice how much MR and SDI you want and then decide how many imbues that would take compared with using arties. Make your choice for FC and FCR to determine how many properties are left to see if you need LMC on the jewelry or on the armor. I would do LRC adjustments last between all the pieces because depending on the resists and LMC and MR you may need to put like 12 LRC on one piece and 18 on another etc.

Remember there are some nice talismans, cloaks, sashes as well as capes that provide some additional properties to help your suit. Making a caster suit is easier than many other suits unless you get into a luck suit which becomes quite a headache.
