Building a tree

I wonder if anyone has any tips (or recommendations for existing houses) that resemble a lived in tree?

I want to make a druid abode on a small plot (10x10) for an event. It's not easy to make the canopy of a tree on the roof level look wider than the trunk using the roofing tiles.

I know the walls are always going to be blocky and square, but it's the canopy that I'd love to see some ideas for.

Come to GL's and look at my Treehouse..... If you head Exactly 6 O'Clock (Not south by the map but exactly SE)from the Yew Trammel gate you can't miss it.... There is a Large Clearing just 6 O'Clock from the Gate... You'll see a very large house with the word YEW on the roof... which is my Theatre.... Directly south of that is the Beggars Wood.... which I believe is exactly what you're looking for.... and trust me everyone has commented on it.

I'd post pics but it's better seen in person .... trust me.

That was an excellent suggestion, thank you. Some very good ideas for me to reflect on.

Never settle for too little! Test out Rubble oak bases to make the trunk look more natural.

Well I don't currently have a place to play with this idea but my suggestion would be this...

1. Gather a ton of dye-able items of varying shapes and sizes...

2. Get a bunch of ladders gozas.

3. Pick Leaf Colors, Yes Colors! don't use just one! and Pick Bark Colors, Yes Colors! don't use just one!

4. Build a goza floor above the house maybe 2 goza floors.

5. Start with the leaves on the top of the fake floors or if your making this small u could do it on the top two floors. Use things like cotton, wool, fish nets, shoes, yarn, plants, plant based rubble, any thing you can think of that might add texture. Play with height to make things overlap right.

6. Go down a level and start on the Limbs same idea use things like obis, bags, bagballs, rubble trees, rubble logs, rubble twigs, and things that are round stack and stagger them to over lap and connect. Build the branches.

7. Lower the branches into place and then the leaves.

8. Gaze in awe of your awesome!

9. Post the pictures.

Enjoy lol hope it helps it would be alot of work and it may not work at all but it might be marvelous.

Great ideas, thank you. May I ask a couple of questions rooted (pun intended :) ) in my lack of recent knowledge?

I have seen "rubble" on some vendors which usually looks like easels and household items. Does you suggestion mean there is rubble as tree parts? I guess this would be difficult to find?

Leaf colours? Where would one find leaves and bark?

A goza floor sounds complicated. Is there a guide? I've looked at the stickies but they don't seem to mention a goza floor. Is this something that gives a building another decorative floor? If so, how does one get to it?

EDITLast question I had has been answered

There's a large brown leafless rubble tree that is from the rubble quest (the easels), not the invasion rubble. So placing a bunch of trees next to each other would look possibly like a thick, curvy trunk.

For leaves, for a general spread you can do the large iron ore, or agapite for pink, verite, for green, I've done that before:

The trunk is made up of the various types of cloth bolts (they all sit differently), with vines on em.

Also would look good using natural plants, like water plants would be nice and leafy, maybe with ferns mixed in. You get a lot of "sameness" doing the same thing over a large area, so I'd probably recommend using the large spread out snowdrops or poppies, poke thru branches, birds nests, birdhouses, etc to keep it from being too uniform (what the above tree suffers from, but hey! I was rushed)

For an easier trunk idea there is a viney elven wall tile that works ok, it's not rounded, but there is a grey stone round wall (only one of two round walls, the other is the straw type found in lizardmen camps) that you can edge off the corners with:

This is what I used for my semi-recent xmas tree house, so the ground floor is hard to see what with the tree shadows and all, but you can see where the hops are on the bottom of the picture I've used one of the "round" stone walls, and the other walls are the elven-viney type.
