Buddy Program & Account Email

I'm at work and bored, so I read up on the UO Buddy program a bit:

What's required is for the buddy I'm bringing to UO to input the email address tied to my UO account. But, giving that email out is such a very bad idea.

Can't we use something else? A random 8-digit number? A 'secret word'? Anything but the account name or the email attached to it?
