I was on my property with 3 of my other sims trying to at least get onto the bottom of the 100 list. A guest came buy and I made food, and did what any ordinary host does.

My other sims were jamming away. When it got time for me to go to the robot factory I sent my other sims out. The guests told me that the other sims were bots because they didn't say anything and only jammed and greened.

I am tired of people going around the city blaming different sims, because they dont talk, of being controlled by a bot program. I usually let only one sim talk and the others make $ or skill.

If you aren't absolutely positive that a bot program is being ran, then you need to keep your thoughts to yourself. This is why so many unfounded bot reports are made. Everyone is eager to be self-righteous and catch cheaters. Just play your game and leave mine alone. I'm tired of being called a botter when I only step away from my computer for maybe a minute at a time.

{End of rant}

Edit: So how do you tell who is a bot or not?

Well, for one, if the sims stay idle or doing nothing for more than 20 mins and not timing out. Second, if they keep doing the same thing over and over game (same steps, timing...)

But that could be someone like me, has multiple sims and only one of them talks. Why so judgemental?

Well... saying that they are your sims so they wont talk would help.

Mostly my 3 sims are in the same house either skilling or jamming and I tend to talk on my main one (although I do say ty on the others) maybe some think I'm a bot too

I do have in their bio's that we are all the same person though - then again I know some people dont read bios *shrugs*

I do also have times when I may be jamming and go off to check the dinner and my son (he's 9) will sell and start jamming again for me and he's under STRICT instructions NOT TO TALK

I dunno what the answer is apart to say carry on what you are doing, there are lots of us that run multi sims and have 1 that we talk on.

yeah people get on my last nerve, i was told i was playing "bot-like" because most of my in-game goals revolved around making money. Also, i guess sitting in my own money house, pizzaing with four sims run by me is botlike behavior. I mean honestly, just because i do not want o sit in this game making all of my life long friends, then im botlike. The only other goals, aside from chitchatting with people, in this game are MONEY related! ya cant build, buy anything, purchase rares or any of the like without money.

No one likes to be told how to play their own game. However, if you display behaviors of bots then you should not be surprised when someone believes that you are one. You have two choices to make your life better. You can continue to play as you do now and not take these accusations so personally or you can change your behaviors so that no one would even think of accusing you of being a bot. Worry about the things you can change and not those you can't. You can change yourself but not others.

I have four sims too and I love to pizza with them because to me playing pizza is like playing a game inside of a game! It's something challenging to do even if the payout bites big time. I also talk only on my one sim. I now lock my doors because it seems to me like a handful of players are determined to run this game into the ground with their accusations. I challenge any one of them to IM each of my sims and they will see that I am legitimately there HAVING FUN which is what this game was meant to be for. If I was a bot I would find something with a LOT bigger payout than pizza..I mean come on, we only clear about $250 per sim per round now as it is....on a GOOD round. I guess some people just aren't happy unless they are trying to make someone else miserable. So sad...

The key word there that she used is TIMING. You controlling those sims jamming are not going to click sell and restart as SOON as the sim finishes, there will be varying degrees of how long the pause is between starts and stops. A bot is so automated that it never deviates between the number of seconds between clicks, and even greens in the same pattern if the person is using the greening part of a given bot.

I would however suggest that you have each sim do some talking so that anybody else on the lot knows a human is there behind them, even if they do not know that the same human is controlling that sim as is controlling your main sim who is the host. That would allow you to keep those sims anonymous, but free them from the appearance of impropriety.

I do get why being accused of botting in-game when you are not would be frustrating, but on the other hand I understand why players are more militant in looking for botters and reporting them now that because of cash out the botting epidemic is affecting us all in game more than it ever has before, especially in TC3 because of the cap imposed. I'd imagine there are those in EA Land that are equally militant because they know the cap is coming and they figure the more botters that can be gotten rid of, the more lax EA can be with the caps.

If the botters only influenced inflation the way they used to, and not payouts and not the maximum amount we ALL could earn in a given time like it does now, then we all know we'd see more of the 'live and let live' attitudes, though even then there was always those who were militant at trying to get rid of the botters. If there were more players who felt that way then, and EA had been more militant about suspending/banning those that the players who did care turned in, we might not have the situation we have now, but then again considering how many of those botters had 10+ accounts, we might not have a game at all today, so it is a real catch-22 for everybody, including EA. There are no easy answers on any side of the coin, all any of us can do is not exhibit 'bot-like' behavior which would be in your favor anyway since that behavior is said to influence the cap and how often you reach and how long it takes you to replenish it. So it's not just the appearance of impropriety that makes it a good idea to not have silent sims now, IMO.

Donovan was making a very good point there, in his usual colorful way.
I doubt very much that he undertakes going aroud trying to get revenge.
Take note of the "goose, gander" bit of his post and you will get what he means.

Now its being suggested that I change my behavior. I am so sick of self-righteous people who demands that the game be played their way, or I'm going to be reported.

There are many days that I don't feel like chatting. Unlike many, I don't think of this as a glorified chatroom, but it's nice to have there when I do feel like talking.

When is the bot (witch) hunting going to stop. I'm tired of having to explain the way I play my game, whether it be constant skilling, $ making, or anything else. It seems that if we are all not Chatty Kathys' then we are bots.

Tell you what. I will play my game and you play yours, and the next time you feel like seeing if I'm a bot, IM me and see what kind of answer you get. And I hope you don't have virgin ears if you do. Because I am certain that it won't be pleasant.

If you run multiple accounts then you will start to exhibit 'bot like' behaviour, especially if you are doing what you do (and thats exactly how i play too, so im not condemming you for it)

We all know what botting means, and I dare say at some time or other most of us have done it. I will hold my hand up and say that I have used bots in the past, Pizza bot, Maze bot, Eye bot and so on.

At the time, it was great making loads of money that way, but now with retrospect I can see how damaging that was, and I am now a reformed botter who is dead against botting.

But 'bot like' behaviour is something else, and this is fast becoming the great crime in the game. Even the Devs refer to 'bot like' behaviour as if it is something criminal.

You will be accused of botting if you run multiple accounts, simple as that. You just have to deal with it when the problem arises. Its a catch 22 situation, the game needs as many paying accounts as possible to survive, and if im paying for 6 accounts then I will play them as i see fit (actual 3rd party botting excluded of course) and im sure you feel the same.

All you can do is explain, and hope the other person accepts what you are saying

Ditto..I kinda feel like that is stereotyping the innocent people that just want to play and have fun. I get real crabby sometimes (
) so it's to everyone's benefit that I just shut my mouth when I just don't feel like talking,
then there are days when I'm a chatterbox but no one else is. It's hit or miss but it doesn't make it an automatic "OOOOOH their going against the TOS".

yeah i supposed the atm could be put to good use, cept i really do not feel like payin fifty rl dollars for a tiger or whatever. at current atm rates-vs-cost of items, i need a mortgage to buy a lot and build a house, let alone furnish it. Wheres the loan officers to go with the atm.

Maybe I can get my EALand property valued so i can use it as collateral and and get a RL loan on it. Or take out a second mortgage on my rl home. Bit of a quandary really.......

i mean by that that your sim would use the toilet, then shower using the same shower, then sleep in the same place, eat, play pool ........ everytime the same thing with the same timing or time intervals ... thats a lil indication that its a bot ... but it could possibly not be one.

This was your opportunity to have some fun with them. One of your other sims could have asked "what did you call me?". Another could have asked "what is a bot?". Another could have answered. Then ad lib the rest of the conversation based on the way your guest responded.
