If you are using jewelry to get the required taming for bonding, what happens when you take it off? Before and after they bond?

I am training my Wyrm in the mine and my jewels has all 3 skills. Figured might as well take them off so i can gain in vet. Do i have to wait the 7 days again?

nothing will happen to your bond by removing jewelry, HOWEVER

if you fall below the minimum lore and taming required to control an animal, and issue too many commands it disobeys, the animal will go wild.

Therefore, dont take off the jewelry unless you already have whats needed to keep controlling it.

Check control chance here, plug in your taming/lore without the jewels on, select to sort by Taming and by control chance:

if its lower than 95% i wouldnt risk it. you'll essentially need to hold a stash of food for the animal and then when it disobeys too many commands, feed it to make it wonderfully happy again.

The ideal thing is to be at 99% chance to control or more.

If your pet is bonded and you take skill items off, the bonding won't wear off. The only time that would happen was if you issued commands with insufficient control and the pet lost enough loyalty to go wild.

If you haven't already bonded with your wyrm, if you use items to reach the minimum taming skill, just ensure you have them equipped when you feed the pet the first time, then after the 7 day period. I always recommend stabling the pet while it bonds to be on the safe side, or at least stabling a spare in case you accidentally get it killed.

As JD points out, you want to have good pet control and if your real taming skill is below the minimum taming skill for that pet, you must be careful that you don't issue commands without your skill items.

another thing to note is that if you take your jewels off this may also lower how many pets you can have stabled! not really a big deal as you can just put the jewels back on then stable ! just dont do like i did and unravel them ! I had to stop what i was doing and make new jewels before i could stable !! lesson learned!

Hope the OP doesn't mind, but here's a related question I didn't think was worth a separate thread:

If I have fed and stabled a newly tamed pet, then take it out before the 7-day bonding wait period (for example, to check the pet's stats), does that reset the timer for another 7 days? Or can I just re-stable and not mess up the initial bonding timer?

Thanks!

You can take the pet out the stable without resetting the timer. Feeding can reset it, but claiming and loring then stabling is just fine :)

Cool! Thanks for the quick response, Wenchy! I reported a couple days ago about those cu sidhes someone released near the Britain moongate on my shard. I jeweled up my animal lore to the point where I had about a 6% chance to tame (stupid me!) and decided to practice the tame/invis strategy you suggested on an aggressive tame like the cu. I "angered the beast" many times, was brought below 1/2 health numerous times by a single chomp, but after about half an hour I got used to the invis strategy and actually managed to tame one. After the initial shock wore off (holy cow, I actually did it!!!), I ran to the stable and started the bonding process without loring, so that's the reason for my question.

Ooh well done! Pretamed animals are harder to tame than the fresh spawned ones, and I remember a black one giving me a long taming session even at 120 tame/lore :p
