Boat Rez Option?

Would it be possible to code up some sort of Boat rez Item?
Either sell it UOcodes or make it craftable.
Another option is to make an option on the tillerman to rez you for a large ammount of gold.

I ask as i was fishing with my crafter when i fished up a baddie and promtly died. I used the 'help im stuck option' which in itself i see as wrong but theirs no other choice.
Recalled to Minoc, comp froze, had to reboot. Turns out my wireless decided to quit on me. Had to do a hard reboot of puter.....wait a little while.....ect you get the point.
When i was able to get back to my char the corpse had gone
I rekon if i didnt have to wait 5mins for the 'im stuck option' then i prob would have got back to body before it decayed.

And soon were gonna have more chance to fish up baddies.

Another idea, Perhaps make a little quest out of it. Do errands for a Sea Witch or something and she rewards you with an instant rez item (only useable on a boat and say 1 per 24hours so its not abused)

For me, I Never see it as wrong when I'm inconvenienced because something was left out or designed wrong - say i simply get ganked by machine gun spells or mobs (say, 6 dark wisps + para), or example; say the 'shortcut secret way' in SA (it's 1 direction only) to get to the goblins, since it's one direction, I simply have a GM move me around vs go the long way around at packy speed if I'm dead. If I get stuck in a hole, I page, even if I can teleport out.

I look at it like this, There's been reports, requests, complaints, etc - They designed it, They can fix it, or they can get trouble calls, screw 'em. Calls will get results eventually. and if someone in DAOC or War is delayed because of my extra calls - boo hoo

Erm, i may sound dumb now but these options your telling me about, do they work with a craft mule template? I dont want to have to put 'fishing' on a mellee temp. This char is a crafter who normally can run away from the baddies.
Oh and no i dont have access to numerous soulstones.....and i wouldnt mess with temps anyway just so i can carry on learning fishing.

The clue is in the skill name...Fishing....not deep sea monster hunting.

I was somewhat surprised to discover that not all rez options work on boats. I think it was gem of salvation that wouldn't allow it.

However, when I die on board my usual procedure is to sail to the nearest land, go ashore and seek out a wandering healer.

Having a 'guardian' on board helps. I have a vollem, if magery is high enough a cast water elemental works well too. Carry a supply of invis pots.

I only use 'help, stuck' when I truly am stuck and can find no way to resolve the situation myself.

Personaly I lock my boat key at home and if I get in any trouble i log in a second account and pop in and kick tail or rez and help kill it... usualy its only a sea slug that has major small spells running and wont let my main get off a cor por. Now my other fisher... can kick a sea slug in 2 hits. The pots work to keep you up and if you put sprit speak on you can keep going till you kick its tail.

Now with the new stuff..... I havent run into them yet....

Idea for you.. if you have a family member who might have a comp you might ask them to allow you to install UO on their comp for such emergencys.. (might get them to join you playing too hint hint) One phone call... your safe and sound and back to fishing.

You can easily get Soulstones if your account is at least 1 year old as it is a 1 year Veteran Reward.

There is also the option to use a Vollem as a pet to guard you. A tinker can craft it or it is possible to get one (cost about 2-3 millions) "in a crystal" which bonds right away and does not break like the crafted one. Vollems require no taming to have and use.

You are assuming his character has the Spellweaving skill. Suggesting the use of the Sacrifice Virtue is a good one, but will this work on a ship?

The owner of the ship can give the tillerman 100k to also work like a wandering healer only for you and ends at server up. Hell also give it the Juka Mage AI to cast heal spells on ya once in a while.

I only bring this up with the EC crashes still running strong. Dexer, mage or archer fisher wont help you when the game crashes and your sitting there with only your pole in your hand.

The stronger fished up baddies is a choice spawn like a rare ore eli. Not to say like T hunting someone may leave a friendly baddie for others

he said he's a fisher, so he should be able to at least kill serps (only really takes 2-3 mind blasts). Sacrifice fame from those and build up to at least the first level sacrifice, shouldnt be getting killed and stuck on a boat that often.

That's true Raptor85. and for my own knowledge... If your corpse is gone (like hrs later), do you still get all your stuff using a sacrifice rez? (I ask because I use that virtue regularly and the one time my body was gone, I didn't get all my items back).
Thinks insurance, and puts non-insurables in hold.

sacrifice only returns what's on your last body.

and not all shards have insurance, but it's not a big deal, the sea isn't THAT big anyways, coudl always sail the ship to jhelom as a ghost and get ressed by the healers at the gate.

Even with the troublesome options that exists, I still think its a good idea you came up with there.

Sacrifice decays and I think its used as well when ressing. Its a horrible option for a fisherman. Especially if its one thats not used very often.

Do Gems of Salvation really not work on boats? Sounds like the best solution for a mule template.

Tillerman rez is an interesting idea. Problem is you'd usually die in a trouble spot and then a rez would just result in another death.

UOCodes, ick. They shouldn't profit off of our deaths like that ;PP. Only thing I'd pay for would be non-decay ships.

Actually Soulstones no longer have the cool-down timer. Haven't in at least a year.

I am an avid fisherman. I usually fish close to the emporium or Maginica that way I can sail to either and and get rezed if needed. also giving guild members runes to your boat so you can be rezed is a good idea.

I'm not sure now, that's why I said 'I think'. I do remember dying and expecting to rez, and couldn't. It was either the gem or sacrifice. It's a while ago now. I just kind of shrugged and sailed to land to find a healer.

I was wondering if you can lock down and use an ankh of sacrifice on the britiania ship? Only drawback is you can only use it once an hour.

Interestingly, this page on Stratics about the Sacrifice virtue also indicates (near the bottom) that you cannot rez within other multi-tiled objects such as a house (or a boat).

Perhaps another alternative would be to spend $6 at the gamecode store and buy an Undertaker's Staff. It wouldn't take care of rezzing you, but if you get back to land and time is running short to retrieve your corpse, it could speed up the retrieval process.

Same here, However to know exactly which island has the healers and where. When your dead in EC the map shows you the healers, So easier to see where to head.

Now I recall this. I was on a boat last month and could not rez via Sacrifice. I am not sure whether there is actually any rez option that you can use on a ship, which makes the original poster's request worth looking into.

Your tillerman still takes orders from you - even when you are a ghost (what a good employée!). So just sail to the nearest beach and find yourself a healer. Britannias oceans are small enough that you should never lose your corpse.

Depends if you know where you are,and which way the wind is blowing so you don't cross that line - for those times when your IP goes down, or hardware failure. Maybe get rid of server lines too?
