They let everything else stick around for months so they might as well let these too, I know it makes the items next to worthless but it gives everyone a chance to collect them.

With them spawning in Ilsh they need to add the T Map to their loot. Of course wouldn't have to tell them to put at least a level one on them if they even played the game.

Just checked ... the southern part of Magincia on Trammel is now filled with blackrock golems - on Europa that is. The bane chosen and the 'normal' demons seems to be gone.

Felucca's Magincia is empty - nothing there.

if you attack them ranged they "bombard" you and stun very often

the only way is party up with some people and have a spellweaver with a lev 5-6 circle :D

Kinda right. They can be dual-cliented in about 15 minutes. But a well organized group (with a couple spellweavers) can do it in half the time.

Archers are real good against them especially if you cross heal,
also mages using EV's and fireball.
We had a few spawn in Mag on Napa the other night. And it seems the
armor spawned on each one, so do not pay high bucks for it.

They should be solo-able, but it would be rough.

Someone on GL claims to have soloed one and given who it was I'm prepared to believe him. (Most things will fold over and die immediately upon seeing his Ornate Axe.)

I'm going to try later. Assuming I can catch one alone later.

Truth be told I'd rather hitch myself to a group.

they are comparable to the shimmering effusion without the summon of things around and the mana drain... the only annoying thing is the bombard stun that happen very frequently....

so they are soloable? yes, if you can solo the shimmering effusion, you can solo this one
worth to solo it? not too much... soloing this things could take 10-20 minutes and could be very boring.... then the reward is 1,5k + a set piece.

I do it in party with 2 friends and took 5 minutes to take it down, so the chance to complete the sets are very high...

but the real thing to know is: what are the karma/mana burst?

I use a garg legendary thrower. I tried a legendary archer but even with max HCI I was missing alot. Gargs get a 5% HCI boost and he is using mace & shield glasses. Once HLD procs from those I never miss.

The weapon I use is a Banshe's call (I think thats the arty). Cold is thier weakest resist and the weapon is 100% cold damage.

My suit is all imbued except the mace and shield. I have 150 STR/HP, 180 stam and about 50 mp. The char is a necro but curse weapon and vamp embrace are usless on these. So I dropped spirit speak and added 110 healing, using enhanced bandies.

I will honor and pull in garg form back to a boat. When I get to the boat ill drop down into wraith form for the mana leach. Even without spirit speak the leech is suffcient to sustain lightning strike and spam divine fury.

I contstanly get hit for 35ish hp and stam from the life force ebolt thinger but I can heal and spam fury through it. Honored and at perfection I hit for 100ish at cap swing speed with up to 250 point crits.

It is about the same damage output as my spellweaver's wod. But my spellweaver isnt the best it could be so that isnt saying much. If I dual client, my spellweaver pretty much just waits there to wod and spam rising colossus. RC doesnt do much damage but it does distract the golem enough to keep the bombards off my damage dealer.

That's odd, I have been reading complaints from other players trying to use Sampires saying that they cannot be meleed by a sampire given the way that they were designed....
I actually welcomed this since it seems that Sampires can do everything in the game and to see finally some MoBs that were not yet another easy fight for Sampires was for me a welcomed addition......

This is the first post I read which says they can be fought easily by a sampire........

Perhaps you may want to give more details on what your sampire is as in regards to skills and on what armor/weapons and modifiers it relies on ?

Sure thing. Basic cookie cutter sampire:

120 Melee/Bushido/Parry
100 Anat/Tactics/Necro
60 Chiv

45 HCI/DCI, 100 DI, 182 Stam, 150 HP, 63 Mana

Using a heavy cold damage leafblade. ML, SL, HLA.

Honor and lure away from any groups of them. Use invis pots as needed.

Use feint anytime you need to get EoO back up, or if you miss a few times with LS. But other than that.. Lightening strike, and AI it to death.

I do wonder on the makeup of these things somewhat though. Even with 45 HCI, or using LS, I still miss sometime 6-8 times in a row. With HLA on my weapon, I almost never have to run off to heal.

The ABSOLUTE most annoying thing about them, is they love to run off when you get them near death. They have paragon speeds, and having to re-attack them OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER is a pain in the rear. Hit it once, it runs off.. Miss a swing, it runs off.. Terribly annoying.

Didn't they make a change many moons ago that stopped paragon speed critters from running off sooooo darn much??

Gotta love all the disinformation in this thread...

The blackrock golems are decidedly with the Bane, always have been. They first appeared, officially atleast, when the Crystal of Duplicity was stolen from the tnrone room - they were part of the Bane attack on Britain. (Remember, the Bane got blackrock from the Ophidians and power crystals from the Meer.) They attack everyone, probably due to lazy coding... But we can pretend its because blackrock is unstable or some such...

As to the event and not knowing about it... If your shard has an EM, they have a web site. Get off your lazy butt and check it. Shardname.uoem.net Its really that simple. You also might want to check the Counselor's Hall in northwest Britain, most EMs put out lanterns and such with event days & times - many also put lanterns in Luna.

If you can't or wont check these places you pretty much screw yourself.

Well let's whittle this down somewhat.

Mugen and Siege are both severely under-populated, I don't know Mugen even has an EM, Siege supposedly doesn't at the moment, but both are, according to an old post by Draconi, the two least-populated shards, to a considerable degree. While this doesn't necessarily mean they shouldn't have Event Moderators, it does mean that they can reasonably be excluded from the analysis as outliers.

Brings us down to 13 of 25.

Origin's is here:

http://vboards.stratics.com/origin-em-forum/234970-[em-event]-queen-dawn-requests-your-presence.html

Brings us to 14 of 25.

Last I heard, the Asian shards did things almost entirely different. There's 8 Asian shards from what I can tell from your list (I am I freely admit making an awful lot of presumptions based on the names of the shards).

So let's see.... Minus 1 for Mugen, previously excluded. Minus....I think I see 2 of the shards that seem Asian that had an announcement, which I'm assuming you counted in your 13? For a total of 8 - 1 (previously excluded) - 2 (included in your original post) = 5.

Bringing us to 14 out of 20.

(I'm probably missing something or screwing something up...I apologize for that, I normally try to post with more care, but time to devote to this is a tad limited. I wanted to say something, however.)

I have no explanation for the remaining 6, save that often EMs put announcements in-game.

As to follow-up, while I agree follow-up fiction is nice (and like you I feel the Great Lakes EMs deserve high commendation for posting some; the gravity of the occasion surely deserves it) I'd also think, given the odd "game vs. world" discussion found elsewhere on U-Hall, that in the present climate attempts to post followup fiction could in some cases result in a backlash. Why not let players interact and tell each other, the argument could go. Or place news in-game someplace. While I as stated like the idea of followup fiction I could certainly see why some chose not to.

OK, no time to proofread; I greatly apologize for any errors of any stripe I may have made!

-Galen's player
Galen, your post is a perfect example of why the UO team continues to get away with such extraordinarly poor customer service. Someone always seems to step up and try to cover it up with excuses or some silly justification.

It's not okay to just dismiss shards like Mugen and Siege as statiscal outliers. That's just BS and I think you know it too. The people who play on those shards pay the same to play as you do and in return are consistently overlooked in favor of shards with higher populations. Don't know why you think it's okay for the money they pay to be used to subsidize stuff that only happens elsewhere.

Also, Cal announced last summer the Japanese shards were getting EMs. If you'd spent an extra five minutes reading my post you would have figured out that TWO of those shards do now have EMs and functional EM websites. The rest don't. [Producer's Update - 8/13/10 | Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online in case you missed Cal's announcement about the new Japanese EMs.]

I'm not attempting to bash the EMs here. What I don't understand though is why Mesanna and Cal can't put their heads together with the EMs and the team in Japan to figure out a schedule for these more important events and then post it on the Herald. It's been done in the past (although they still missed shards, e.g., Arirang, Balhae and Formosa for the death of Clainin event). So why not now?

EM Seppo posted about this event six days ago for Baja, so it's obviously been pencilled into some people's schedules for almost a week now. Seems like in that time someone could have figured out what to do for the rest of the shards that don't have regular EMs.

I'm sure someone on the team plans to do events on most of the shards, eventually, but is too lazy or too unorganized to figure out a schedule. Instead, they'll just do stuff whenever they can scrounge up a few extra minutes and will make an announcement in game sometime earlier in the day. Fine and dandy for the folks who happen to be on at that time, but not so fine for everyone else. Not only do folks miss out, but such a laid back approach to handling things inevitably leads some people to conclude that there's some sort of conspiracy to make sure that only a handful of people know about the events and have a chance to get items and make gold/cash from selling them.

There has to be a better way to organize and publicize these things, Galen. The Herald seems like the perfect place to start.

Errr.....yes....I understand. But did you bother to look at the Legends and Drachenfels web sites? There's nothing on them about this event. And the most recent thing I see posted on the Chessy website you provided is from October 25, 2009 and nothing comes up for February 13th, 14th, or 15th when I click on the calendar on that site.

If the EMs for Chesapeake and Origin have started using new websites, why haven't they fixed the Chesapeake and Origin websites on uoem.net to redirect you to the correct location, whatever it is? If the current EMs don't have the passwords to do it, why doesn't Mesanna get someone to take care of it?

The conspiracy is all aimed at you Tina... We're all in on it... The UO-verse is aligned just to keep YOU in the dark about EM events.

Oh, wait, that’s just all in your head.

Let’s break this down for you:

Asian shards: While a few have EMs, they are still run completely differently than US/EU shards. Essentially, trying to rationalize their actions based on what goes on with our shards will almost always fail.

EM websites: The majority of EMs use their sites. Some apparently don't, bad on them. All the shards also have EM forums here on Stratics, also with varying degrees of use.

In game methods: Did you go to the Counselor's Hall in NW Britain? That’s the mandatory meeting place as determined by Mythic. Were there lanterns? Oddly hued items with information for their names? What about in Luna? Does your EM use a special Town Crier somewhere? (Usually WBB or Luna bank)

Sadly, not all the EMs are cut from the same cloth. Also, not all of them have a stable schedule - not an excuse, just a fact of life. While they are paid, this isn't their main vocation.

If your EMs aren't using their site, TALK TO THEM. If worse comes to worse, email Mesanna

Now, it would be really nice if the Herald has a calendar of events. But I think we all know that’s not going to happen anytime soon since Mythic can't even bother to post all the news there.

Take a more active role in finding out what’s happening on your shard, don't expect it spoon fed to you.

I expect content, which I pay for, to be available to me when I log in.

Which is why, again, and still, I prefer the event arcs to EM events.

Wasn't someone saying all information to be posted, should be posted in the most publicly available spaces? I don't get it.

Oooohh. Yeah.

Further, over two years ago they introduced a statuette on Origin which would allow for event items to be dispensed with a dbl click, rather than having to have EMs physically hand them out. GL's EMs do a great job of placing quest characters. I really really enjoyed their thirtieth anniversary chain. Why cant event items be the result of a chain of clues or chain of locations rather than having a handful of folks receive them at the end of an allotted time frame?

*EDIT* I'd go further still, if the monetary value of participating in these events is to be justified as so tremendous, a strong case should be made for having enough staff to host all events on all shards at exactly the same time. Now, knowing the playerbase as we do, that would not prevent some players form getting multiple items on multiple shards, the only real motive for which is profit. But it would force a large number of folks to choose to do the event on the shard they call home. I mean really if it is just about being a part of an active story and being "in" the game, why make it profitable at all. If the program can not succeed without the rewards, why have it? How about item bonding for all event items?

We are talking about not knowing about the "preview" event, (not the queen dawn event ) Which was not announced on any website or anytime in game other than while it was happening (and we are unsure of what game channel it was announced in). This event went on pretty much privately.
Thanks for chiming in though! Wish you knew what it was we were talking about so it could have been relevant :(

What i find to be complete BULL**** yet again a bard can do nothing to them. Peace direct or area does nothing. Discord --- Nope. Can't provoke them or the target of. 480 skill points and can't use them at all.. This is not like where one class out does another and would be best to use ragned vs melee or magic, the bard just plain ole has no effect. They need to stop doing that.
