This is just a reminder out there to people not to trust anyone that asks you to run scripts or down load things they send you. There is someone on origin gaining the trust of others the telling them he has a program that will help them out big time. he will then send you a script and ask you to run it, when you have that running and nothing happens he will say oh there is another part of it and send you another file. as soon as you start to down load this file, a screen will pop up over uo that you can not move. this screen is the block what your char is doing in uo. as you are trying to get the ugly black screen off your computer your char is in uo dropping ALL of you armor on the ground. by the time you realize what has happen you are standing there alone and nude. This happen to a good friend of mine. I am helping him replace all his stuff but I wanted to warn everyone else out there and remind you, do not down load things that people give you, do nut run scripts, and as sad as it is don't trust people that you have just met.

in this case scripts are how he got him to down load the file but there are files like this that will make your char strip without even needing them to be running anything else.

So the person who lost his stuff was willing to cheat at a video game to become better? and yet this is the victim, are you kidding whoever did this should be rewarded for cleaning up the cheaters in this game. If the GameMasters refuse to intervene are take the approriate action against cheaters. Then player justice is the only way to get anything done, maybe now they will have learned their lesson and stop using cheats and exploits.

Both parties were willing to cheat so there is no right and wrong here, its simply karma and they both will get what comes to them. Cheaters Never Prosper.

What I fail to understand is how this person gained the trust of said player, yet they only just met ..... It really sounds like someone was desperate for a way to become better and was willing to throw caution to the wind to achieve this.

If you read my warning i was warning NOT to use the programs and NOT to down load files. It was a reminder because there are many different viruses you can get from down loading files. Key loggers and things of that sort can also get any info you type into your computer. credit cards, bank account info, paypal info, these kind of hacks don't only lose you in game items these kinda hacks can lead to major loss. The person that had this happen too them is new and yes naive. Its a good example of why not to down load files from people and why not to try to cheat. Its like the teenage drug problem, drugs are illegal and mess up the youth. Say a Kid ODs on drugs and dies you don't say oh well he got was he deserved you make a example of it and tell other kids that this is just another reason why not to do it. You don't just say "oh well the kid was looking to just feel better and get high so the drug dealer did us a favor by giving him the drugs."

Most of the uo population has done something or another in game that was most likely not with in the ROC set forth by ea and most of the real world population has done something in there life that is illegal. No one is perfect and you know what most of us learn from our mistakes but its nice when we are warned ahead of time and can learn from others mistakes.

Sorry if i was just trying to warn people of something they shouldn't do. There is no reason to bash the person that made the mistake and there is no reason to bash me for trying to help others learn.

I happen to know the person this happened to and I hate to say this, but the person this happened to, isnt exactly new to uo and knows more than enough about illegal programs so I have to say I agree with Multani on this one. Cheating doesn't get you anything in the end, karma is a witch and will bite you every time.
Perhaps this warning could be viewed as more of something for people who haven't played in a long time or to those who ARE new and have no idea what will happen if someone does this to them.

To link it to something as serious as a child ODing though, is harsh and I dont believe its the best comparison that could've been used. This, of course being my own personal opinion.

I wanted to stay outta this but reading you all blame the victim is lame.

The guy who got scammed is a friend of mine, the guy who scammed him is a friend of mine, and i would like to keep it that way.

The fact remains someone stole a persons items that they worked hard for. and that is much more underhanded than running scrips imo...

You would all be singing another tune if you where the ones who got duped, its called empthy give it a try.

I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the person this happened to, I think it's pretty low to do anything like what happened. Personally if it were me, I would be mad as hell, but at the same time, I would only have myself to blame for attempting to run something that is illegal in game. So, yes, I think the blame for the most part does go on the person it happened to because plain and simple, they made the choice to try to run something that was illegal in game, regardless of the outcome.

Well, I just heard through the grapevine that the person who had his suit taken, is now in possesion of someone else's suit and is holding the suit for ransom to get his suit back, when the person who just lost his suit had nothing to do with the 1st one being lost.
Even though this is a game, some people forget that it is a game and let their emotions get the better of them and start turning into the chars they play. Mean, nasty, evil spirited
