I use a basic chain armor ignoring sammy with an elemental slayer bladed staff. I usually farm the unbound energy vortex on the lower levels. They drop the legendary artifact loot, they aren't casters and are a piece of cake to take out with a sammy. Elemental slayer is the super slayer for them and air elemental slayer is the single slayer type for them (triple damage with a single slayer).
The mages on the lower level are repond and seem to be best killed with a dragon tanking them. They are a handful on a dexer, imho they aren't worth the effort. They drop basically the same items as the energy vortex's.
The lesser spawn can be taken out with pretty much any temp, a provoke bard can be fun in the first levels. The air/poison/blood elementals on level three are very fast and can get to be a handful quick. The elder gazers (forget their new name) I have not messed with much, but they seem pretty tough!
