Bard Tamer?

Returning after 10+ years. I had an old bard/tamer and I'm wondering if this is out-dated?

My guy was always intended to max luck to the utmost and then use pets and music to kill the biggest monsters. I know a lot has changed, training pets now, various new pets etc etc, am hoping to get an idea is the bard/tamer combo spec what I"m looking at for this role? Or what is the most versatile now in taming specs to take out all the big fun stuff now with taming?

I still use my bard tamer with some jewels I run:
120 taming
120 lore
120 vet
120 music
120 peace
120 discord
95 magery
I use the peace materies

I too run bard tamers - one peace tamer and one disco tamer (120 each taming, lore, vet, music, magery, and peace or disco).

Interesting template, meat. As I think of it, I rarely cast anything other than mind blast (no eval to add damage to any other offensive spells), gheal, recall... it would be very handy to have both peace and disco on the same tamer. As is, I have to choose which to take out. The peacer I use to tame critters, and the disco I use for hunting.

Yeah my only use for magery it's healing, recalling and invisibility..with resilience running hardly ever vet much also.

I still have and love my bard tamer, though she's a provo/disco one - I prefer mixing crowd and individual effect barding, and it's fun being able to work spawn alongside pets rather than rely 100% on them to do the killing. You can let your pets get targeted by spawn initially and provoke the spawn creatures on each other. Or if you're faced with a tougher beastie, you can provoke other spawn onto it along with your pet. Combine that with disco and it's another way of using barding to keep the pressure off your pets. What damage they take is easy enough to vet.

Masteries aren't that great for me if I'm dancing round spawn provoking, but ok if I'm safer and don't need my mana for anything else. I'm not fussed that I don't have the real skill to max them out, because it's rare that I use them. If you want the masteries it just requires some skill shuffling with real skill points and more skill items into your other skills. Magery is always my first choice to boost because it's just a support skill for healing/invis, so it doesn't hurt to use items instead of real skill points :)

110 Taming & lore (can hit 120 with items for taming new pets)
100 Vet
110 Music, prov & disco (skill items to 120)
70 Magery (skill items to GM if necessary)

I personally don't like peace at all, so I run a disco/Provo tamer.
I use disco mastery to finish off whatever my pet is tanking and Provo all who get in our way.
