Banksitting for Seige!

A

Aker

Guest
From 8-10pm EST tommorow I will be banksitting at the West Britain Bank. I will do so every Sunday, because the bank has been always near and dear to my heart. Not so in the modern trammel sense, but in the classic pre-UO:R sense where everyone used it as a place of commerce and trash talking most certainly would lead you into trouble later on.

Please join me in reigniting a time-old tradition on Seige. Bring your friends. Invite people from other shards! It takes no skill to fart around and waste time. Free drinks and food provided by me, Seige Perilous's soon-to-be world renown chef!

LOL Indeed! Sounds fun. I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but the Duel's are taking place around that time every Sunday as well. You may have a better turn out in the afternoon's or maybe on Saturday evenings. It's just a suggestion. I'd love to be able to participate.

Very honorable Aker.

I remember when I first started playing UO on another shard. The northside of Brittian was being invaded. I had, as a total Noobular Sammi, a learning experience. Didn't know my head from my arse...as if I do now...about UO and /or Siege. I aided in gains drawn by others resurrecting me, cause this worthless Sammi couldn't hold his own. Long gone are those days....heh, or are they? I started UO fighting for Brittian...*scratches head* not sure now if it's worth the fight. *shrugs*

As a matter of fact, I do know this. However, this is the only time I can guarantee with consistency that I will be available to be there. My schedule is ridiculously hard to pin down, save Sunday nights. Besides, there is nothing wrong with just stopping by.

I have fought for almost every city in the old world. I most definately have fought IN every major city. I've come to the conclusion that as fun as it is to fight for the world we inhabit, it's always about the people. The world may go to pot, but the people are still good. Seige perhaps is saved from the degredation most because everyone is accountable for our actions. I know this even after a few days because I have seen in that short span what I used to see all the time all over the realm: people helping people.

Come bank sit with me and we'll begin the slow revitalization of in-town community, quirky and pointless (and loving it!).

When Siege was born the West Brit Bank was amazing. So many people trading
and working together.

I'll be there with my tools, and supplies.

Everyone should come and trade like the old days.

Cheers!

Eh that's all good and stuff. And I see where you coming from, but seems the bank that resembles that here on Siege was Moonglow? So I hear.....

I certainly understand about schedules! I'll definitely try to come by.

**Edit - I posted a link to this post on our guild forum. I think this is a really nice idea. I will also show up with a couple of freshly tamed Mares for newer tamers, so if you're in need of one, just stop by. They will be free of charge. Newer tamer's will need 90ish taming and lore, with or without jewels.

No Brit bank was the place to be here on Siege, then Brit bank was evaded by monsters for a week or so and ppl moved to Moonglow. Moonglow never was even close to what Brit bank used to be

Aker: You are not the first who is trying this, but good luck. I'll be there for the sake of history

LOL...well no reason both types can't be combined! Castor and I do this every now and then for fun in Luna, just to watch the shenanigans. On this particular occassion, we drew others into our blaze orbit...alas we had to exclude poor Shakaja standing there forlornly with her axe, from our lineup proper, since "she" had no blaze mount (really, one must maintain banksitting standards). I also once had an al fresco picnic with someone who was newly returning, and sorting his bank box. He had a table, chairs, candleabra, etc. set up at the bank, and invited me to sit with him. We sat and chatted while people came up to the bank, but gave us a wide berth as if saying, are you people crazy or something??

I have seen more and more people infected with a passion for blaze. Where is Nurse Maude? I think we need to develop a vaccine to help these people!!

I may actually be free. If I am I will definitely either be at the tournament or here. I used to do a fair amount of banksitting with my paladin Rayne (I was always on the lookout for an incredible katana) back when I used to play Baja.

Just so that you know guys, I'll be wearing a combo of white, beige, and red and my outfit will consist of a tunic, kilt, cloak, and sandals. It's very close to my old guild garb, which I hope to start again on this shard.

I'm by no means trying to edge in on the tournament audience. It's kind of apples and oranges. One is a hangout. The other is someone getting disemboweled. It all depends on what you're up for. If anything, it provides more variety.

Yea, most of the banksitting/conversing was done in Moonglow
It was like that even when malas came about and Luna became the closest bank/moongate/vendor spot
We resisted Luna for a long time but it eventually became the number one spot for banking
Personally, I perfer Skara or Glow
But I never remember a time that I enjoied the spamtasticness of the ProdShard Britain Bank

It'd be cool to get a com crystal and broadcast the tournament to the banksitters.

That was great fun... and I sold a lot too!

Brandan (Aker) says he's gonna be there with food every Sunday night.

Sound's like a good new tradition to me.

Was great to see everyone that came out. Hope somebody snagged a shot
of us all dressed up in pink! haha

Cheers!

I could hardly believe my eyes...when the Mayor and I gated into WBB, our eyes and ears were assaulted by hawkers screaming about noble Nightmares, food, and clothing, people shouting that they wanted to buy SCNP this, and that...and the litter! A young man stood on the banks of the river, brazenly fishing and flinging shoes and such at passersby, not to mention great, flopping, fish everywhere. After the clean, quiet streets of Zento, you can imagine how this affected the Mayor's delicate sensibilities. To soothe himself, he began tailoring tasteful garments made of some of the finest cloth to be had. Soon brightly robed citizens were teeming around the bank...some strangely multiplied after muttering a few incantations, until a veritable pastel horde swarmed the area.

While there, I could hardly credit it, but I saw a knight bearing the crest of the Silver Serpents brawling with an outraged beggar, while in another part of town, an irate shopgirl ran screaming after some hapless citizen for unknown reasons, pummeling him with her fists whenever she caught him. I saw citizens downing food piled in the streets that was MOST questionable, and not surprising that they became ill afterward, and more than one poor citizen inexplicably seemed to spontaneously combust right next to me.

A vicious snowball fight took place in the environs of the bank, although the sizzling July sky made this hardly credible.

The greatest shock was that the town crier, Phoebe, actually had NEWS! I believe that this may be the first I have heard Britain's unusually tight-lipped town crier have anything to say in my 2 years of sojouring on Siege.

*shakes head*

I am just glad I live in Zento!

-Skylark

P.S. was a lot of silly fun, and a good idea. Was great to see so many show up in their finest bankwear, and jump into the spirit of the event!

Stopped by for a few minutes just now. I had fun just seeing a few faces I recognized from the boards. I have to take a shower (just got back from climbing gym) and if Amy is not here by the time I am out, I will have to do some more banksitting. I look forward to it next week if i have time. Enjoy!

I only wish I had been able to stay for the entirety. I thank everyone for showing up and making it a fun place to be. Next week I will have plenty more for sale and barring any more eff ups, I'll be able to stay the allotted time at the very least.

I really enjoyed myself. I made a sale, shared experiences, got whacked with some snow, and met some of Seige's high society.

That and people enjoyed my food! Try getting that on a regular shard bank. GUFFAW!

Brandan,

Any chance we could move this up an hour?

Then it could kind of be like a tailgate party for the tourney. There'd be more
people mixing at the bank... and probably better attendance for the tourney
as well.

Cheers!

A

Aker

Guest
I don't see why not, but I probably wouldn't be the one to start the party. Whenever I do work Sundays, I end my work at about 6:30-6:45pm EST. Taking into account non-digital dinner, that cuts it kind of close for me. I couldn't promise that I'd be there on the spot.

G

I think we should start it as early as possible. Then tourney participants could
hang out for a few before hand (could lead to some epic trash talk). And then if
Memnoch is agreeable... we could even help gate spectators to the tourney.

One of the funniest outcomes of last night (I think) is that any newcomers to
the shard who came to Brit last night will be totally puzzled when they go back
there tonight.

And Felinious cleaned my clock rolling dice last night! I had to stop before he got
everything I made from selling my wares!.

Cheers!

The best part of the whole thing was when some dork from a prodo shard came over and started talking [censored] about griefing siege with his guild, then he was dead in guard zone...
How did that happen???

That was rather amusing when he somehow fell over dead *laughs*

I do hope he and all his friends come to Siege, that he calimed were coming here.

Oh and yes Ginsu, that is my fav area for playing craps, use to win good money playing the DT vampires there, long ago.

Oh I think the tailgate idea is great. So come early and bar-b-q, then go watch some great fights. Or stay after the tailgate and have fun as well, this is great.

RTLFC..

I'd be willing to work with Aker to try to make both events, (My duel tourny and the banksitting) work together for a greater attendence rather then compete for attendence..

I'd also offer to TS/Ventrilo servers I was allowed to use for my tournies (assuming the hosts didnt mind) to be used for the banksitters.. If Aker wanted, I just generally like hearing voices then reading pixils.. But that might affect the feeling for banksitting *shrugs*

I'd just personally like to see both events prosper from one another rather then compete, or me have to re-time my event blah blah..

A cool idea for the banksitting is to try to have it an hour or whenever, earlier then the bank event and maybe I can release a 1st round duel line-up and the banksitters can have a booky.. Then again that would require the duelists to ALL register before hand.

G

Ginsu-SP

Guest
Maybe we could try out the com crystal idea, or at least experiment with it
to see if it's workable. The booky idea is great. I think starting the "bank sit"
an hour before the tourney will give everyone time to come by for a few laughs,
and if those who want to stick around at the bank had some kind of play by play...
that would make it all the better. The com crystal would be more "old school"
as long as it wasn't a bother to you guys.

Cheers!

M

MeMn0cH

Guest
Err.. The Com crystal would be a bit of a hassel, never liked them things to begin with..

As it is before each duel I have to..

Register everyone, and make sure I have everyone..
Run a program to create a tournament tree..
Enter both Vent/TS and moderate them..
Run my vendor for donations/entree fees..
Check duelists suits on the restricted weeks.
Watch the duels to make sure no rules are broken.
Have people watch upstairs for theives/raids.
Record Wins/Loses.

Quite a list.. It gets a bit hectic at times, and well, to have to run comm crystals to an event that was put during a time I chose thoughtfully with other events in mind to make sure I didnt take anyones time, seems a bit.. Unfair.

Play me the worlds smallest violin.
