Bane Invasion : is there any use for loyalty > 5,000 ?

I have been trying to look whether there is any practical advantage to raise loyalty with the Ophidians (against the Bane Chosen) above 5,001 points (which I understand is the cut out point to be offered the Blackrock Stew recipe), but so far I could find none.

Still, it seems loyalty can go up to 10,000 or even 15,000 points (not sure which is the max).

Why raise it so much if there is no other advantage besides the blackrock stew recipe which is much below that max ?

Am I missing something here ?

my guess is that there will be more in store as the storyline continues. for example, when magincia's event begins.

I hope so, and it would be nice if the reward was better than the book you get for killing meers.

the recipe Was your reward, it's been the Only one mentioned, other than being able to buy those 2 potions(which, will be probably be released in the future anyways) and the town fights. <--sorry about pointless speculation, so if the thread gets locked, it's my fault

If you want to stop fighting evil, then leave the Bane alone. Those people that get the book(I'm still working on getting that virtue suit - almost 3 dozen drops, no full set yet). THEY still have another place in this event. Cal said the book would be needed in the future, so there's still something unannounced planned for them. So siding w/ the evil axis was the good way to go? Only time will tell

its a waste of time.
Whatever it is, it can be bought.

Now they have us raising loyalty with no purpose.

How about getting us back to adventure and exploration.

Come on Devs.

Does anyone see this. Used to be kill stuff, reward. Then we complain. Then you get ToT system. The more you kill the greater the chances.

Now its a visual system... we can kill and see our loyalty rating go up. ALL for what a reward. In 6 months we will have 6 bizzillion loyalty combinations. Please stop complicating this game.

Argh. I see it now... I have 9434 loyalty and I need 10000 to get that, which I didnt know about but now they turned off loyalty.

Next complaint. SHOULD I KEEP my loyalty to the bane. What if I reduce it and it has value next month?

Stop the insanity.

Well, since you need 5,001 loyalty with the ophidians to get the stew recipe, the short answer is yes.

Maximum positive loyalty to any faction is 10,000, maximum negative (dis)loyalty is -15,000. (I have two chars with 10k loyalty to both the Ophidians and the Meer, and one with 5.2K loyalty to them both... The invasion has been 'over' for me for a while now.)

There was supposed to be another battlefront event like the Bane/Ophidian war with the meer. However, the intern working on it left before it was done, hence the camp at Spirituality and the power crystal quest. There were even rewards included in a cliloc file, Gift of the Eternal and Feline's Grace.

But, instead of finishing the code and giving us an event last summer, they focused on High Seas. Shocking, no?

I believe that.
It makes sense.

Im sure the will be no use for us no stew wanting vets. Ah well. On to Mag Event that should get half done too.

I don't even know WTF that "stew" is for. I'm at 2500 loyalty and done killing crap for worthless sashes. I know Logrus thought that damage penalty they apply half the time made them complex and intriguing, but in reality I can't even give the damn things away once I explain what they do.

Please forgive my ignorance, but I have been fighing the bane Chosen for the Ophidians.

What are this "book" you mention which Cal said would be needed in the future and what is this "virtue suit" that after 3 dozen drops (of what ??) you have been unable to complete ?

You get them killing the Ophidians ? Which ophidians more precisely ?

Thanks.

This is a valid point, IMHO.

If the developers are considering using higher levels of loyalty in the future for quests or rewards then they will need to also allow players to raise their loyalty again in the future OR inform them NOW that they better max out their loyalty because they will need it in the future and they will no longer be able to increase it after the current event.

That is, either allow loyalty to be raised also and again in the future, if higher loyalty will be needed for whatever reason, OR clearly inform the player base that they better raise it NOW because they won't be able to in the future even if they will need it.

Hope I was clear enough to eplain my point.

The book is obtained for doing a quest(starts with the guy at Brit moongate) Quest which involves turning in a complete set of virtue armor (sans cape), so 7 pieces. This book is the one that looks like the Book of Truth, except it'll also have your name on it.
You obtain the pieces from killing in the Anti-Virtue Dungeons. Virtue Armor Set - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia. but you can get other drops instead of the armor also - http://www.uoguide.com/Artifacts_(Virtue).
Most people posted that they just bought the pieces. It's not bad armor - all 80's, blessed, self repair 5. But the rate of drops is the same as always, and you can get many duplicates.

I am afraid it is not so.

I went to the guy at the britain public gate, accepted the quest, turned in all 7 requested pieces and I got as a reward a plain and simple "Book of Truth". There is no name of mine on it. It just and simply reads "Book of Truth".

It pretty much looks to me the exact same Book of Truth which dropped a while back at an Event. Nothing really special or new about it.

There is another step in the book quest.

First, you need to have 7500 Bane loyalty. Take the book and go to Miegen at the altar where the Magincia moongate was. Talk to him.

If you have the loyalty, then you will be able to have the book corrupted and your char's name will be put on it.

Cal said 'the book of truth' would be used later. He never said which version would be used...

I'm thinking I remember it this way
The one With the name is the only one that will be used, because there were concerns over losing it in the 'future' when it will be needed/used, but it was then said we'd get to keep it.
I doubt I'll even finish the quest (w/o buying the pieces), much less make up all the loyalty points required. I still haven't even gotten the recipe for stew yet.
If it's all actually any good, it'll be released to All of us later anyways - or maybe I can pay 14.95 for it in a future booster - Not!

Question, any character that has 7,500 loyalty with the Ophidians (against the Banes...) will be available to corrupt the book, even if it is not that given character that obtained the book through the other quest, or is it mandatory that it is the exact same character that both has the 7,500 loyalty with the Ophidians and also obtained the book at the Britain Moongate ?

7,500 loyalty to the Bane, not Ophidians/Meer. (this is a bad guy quest)

No idea if it has to be the same character to recieve the book from the guy at the Britain moongate.

Oh, I understood it the other way around.....

Your clarification, though, prompts me a further question which is then the same question of the original post that started this thread :

"Is there any use for loyalty > 5,000 to the Ophidians" ? (in addition to the blackrock stew recipe that is available at 5,001 loyalty to the Ophidians, that is...)

I mean, if at 7,500 loyalty for the Bane Chosen there is this Quest to corrupt the Book of Truth, I would imagine that similarly, at 7,500 loyalty for the Ophidians there was a Quest for something as well.

Anyone knows what it is ?

I guess your answer would be "not at this time" - maybe for bragging rights, or role-play purposes. The Ophids have already given 2 potions & 1 recipe. Bane's will be forthcoming, seems pretty equal to me, except for the Meer. who offered nothing and will kill you just for being in proximity of them fighting.

I pretty much answered this in my first post.

You need 5,001+ loyalty to get the stew recipe. Thats it. Nothing more. No other quests that we're hiding from you.

I honestly don't expect that we will see much more, I fully believe this arc will have a rushed, half-assed ending just like the Shadowlord one did. More loose plot threads that the EMs to deal with. I hope I am wrong.
